Skydome development thread - another kd5rax project!

This is a very cool structure, I ate in the Hard Rock Cafe in the SkyDome a few months ago, got to watch the Toronto Police go through their training and obstacle courses while I ate.  I have a few pictures, just havnt had them developed yet.

Looks great! Please do include some form of the Audience; even a rough abstraction of it will probably suffice.

 

Do you plan to model all the little details visible in these pics? (i.e. ductwork; bikeracks; phone booths; etc.)

oi vei!  all those details....  Yeah, sure. just dont plan on it being done for a while.  I dont really get that much time on BAT except for weekends.

I have found that the audience is going to take a load of polys and render time to get to look right.  I do still plan to put it on the building, but as it is right now, it will have to render it separately from the main building (it is about 40,000 polys right now).

That picture is PERFECT!!  Just the angle and detail needed to fill in the back part.  It will also help a lot with lot design

Excellent work, kd5rax. The Skydome will look great in all of our cities, especially since we have very few good sports stadiums/arenas to choose from in the game. I hope that your work inspires other BAT artists to try stadiums and/or arenas in the future.

Are you going to put in the Baseball or Football field?  You could make Both!  Yay!  I'd rather you make the baseball part though.  The Blue Jays are just about one of my favourite teams!

If you really wanted to get particular, you could do one of those date-dependencies where the field is baseball in the summer and football in the winter.  Only problem with that which I could imagine is that I wouldn't think that the Argos play too many games with the roof open!

isn't the center a bit to round? fields often have an elipse shape or a triangle shape

another question.... are you going to include the walkways around the dome ? .. or the gate numbers ?

i am going to try and get as much detail as i can, but this  building is really hard and progress on it is really slow.

If someone wanted to help coordinate the modeling process and get a couple of more people on modeling, that would speed it up and greatly help with the completion...

I'd be willing to help model, but my time is really tight... I probably couldn't get more than a couple of hours in per week, so that wouldn't be that useful.

Well forget the SkyDome, it is now called the Rogers Center now that it is bought out. Well hopefully this project is close to completion, i really can't wait. Long live the Dome.

I just wondering...will there be only a baseball version, or will you make a football version aswell? Cause the Argonauts play there as well.
