WOW! Thanks so much for the comments, everyone! 24 comments for one update! I think that might be a record for this City Journal.. And otherwise the first update might get close.. Thanks a million!

I'm currently BATting my you-know-what off to bring you the conclusion of these events, but I've also thought of something to fill the spot between the intro (which you've seen) and the conclusion..

I've also come up with the storyline as to what the motive(s) of the terrorist(s) was and I am currently the only one who knows who survived and who didn't make it out this blaze.. 9.gif No revelations from me on that issue..

With a little luck, I'll have some of the lots ready today for the middle update of this trilogy and will be able to show you something tomorrow.. Unfortunately for you all, I've also purchased the expansion pack to Rome: Total War and might just spend some of my time on that as well.. 18.gif

Anyway, thank you all for commenting and thank you all for bringing this City Journal up to 10.000 views and at Page 10! 35.gif 39.gif35.gif I definitely did not expect that when I started out..

As always, we now go to the personal replies and I hope you'll all continue to show your appreciation for this City Journal in the next update.. I've really enjoyed all your comments!

    Personal Replies:

Jerebannus XVI: lol.. *Picks up defibrillator* CLEAR! *ZAP!* CLEAR! *ZAP!* There.. That oughta do it.. Thanks so much for your comments! Three in total.. Truly the most loyal supporter of the Empire.. Here's your bunny: 35.gif18.gif As for your inquiries, sorry, but I cannot divulge any information at this moment.. 43.gif

Pipishere: Ah, another loyal supporter! Thanks for your comment, Pipishere! I'll try not to keep you waiting in suspense and on the edge of your seat for too long! 18.gif

Jasperdeman.nl: Ah.. Don't we all.. Isn't that in every City Journal commenters' prayers? 'Need more updates'.. 18.gif Sorry, but you'll have to wait.. 9.gif Thanks for your comment!

Aleking: Thanks for your comment, Alek! I try to keep the standard as high as I can! 48.gif

Leech10: Thanks for your comment! I'll try to come up with the next update as soon as I can!

Hammo: Thanks for your support, Hammo and thanks for your comment! I think Chaumont needs both in these troubled times.. 18.gif As for your hopes, I cannot confirm nor deny any reports about the Emperor..

E.J.C.: Thanks for your comment, E.J.C.! I really appreciate that! As for the message, it was my pleasure to help a fellow CJ'er out! I'll be sure to visit your City Journal sometime in the future!

Slann: Thanks for your comments! I'll try to make sure the next update comes around soon! As for the seriousness of this event.. Well, I'd say that's obvious.. 9.gif Oh, and banging your head against the wall is probably not the best way to focus on your own updates.. 17.gif

Cjah: Haha.. That clip with the reporter describing the Hindenburg disaster always gives me goosebumps, so thanks for reminding me! 9.gif Thanks for your comment and thank you very much for your support.. Should the Empire require it, we will most definitely take you up on your offer!

6Underground: Thanks for your comment! Your City Journal is one of my favourites, so I consider it to be an honor that you've commented in mine.. Thanks a lot!

Mtbrocket: Thanks for your comment, Dan and welcome to Chaumont! I must say that I had never heard of the quote in your signature, but I really like it!

Meinhosen: Thanks for your continued support for Chaumont and your comment! I've decided to give you a ducky: 40.gif9.gif As for the storytelling: I hope to keep that up for quite some time to come..

Pepsi71Ocean: Thanks for your comment! I received your PM and replied. I also received your followup PM, but I've been so busy around here that I hope to be ready to write a reply by tonight or tomorrow.. (Sorry for dragging this on for so long..) As for that tank, well.. I'd almost say that that's a secret, but it's merely some creative Photoshopping.. Or in my case: Paint Shop Pro-ing.. 18.gif

Weird: Thanks for your comment, Weird! As for the aftermath, your guess is almost as good as mine.. No wait, that's not entirely true.. 9.gif

Kwakelaar: I think so too, Kwakelaar! Thanks for your comment! I'll try not to keep everyone waiting too long! 43.gif

Nik-nik: Thanks for your comment, Nik-nik! I really cannot say anything about the situation yet.. You'll have to be patient for a little while longer.. 5.gif Your interest in the sale of rights has definitely influenced my plans for the next update, so perhaps I'll do something with that as well.. 9.gif

Simbourgeois: I'll try to get that update to you soon, Simbourgeois! In the mean time: thanks for your comment! 19.gif

Jeff1134: Though you've been around for long, I'm going to say it anyway: welcome to Simtropolis and welcome to Chaumont! 9.gif I'll try to keep people interested as long as I possibly can.. 43.gif Thanks for your comment! Hope to hear from you again soon!

Sharkbait16: Haha, it wouldn't have been very exciting if I had given away all information right away, now would it.. And hey.. With 24 comments, I'd say the build up is quite succesful.. 18.gif Thanks for your comment, Sharkbait16!

Sloppet: Lol.. Haha, so true.. So true.. If watching Crime Scene Investigation has taught me one thing, it's to wash my hands before throwing a bomb.. 9.gif Thanks for your comment and thanks for your support, Sloppet!

EricPoehlsen: Thanks for your comment and thanks for introducing page 10! As for that crowning.. It's a possibility.. But then again, there are so many other possibilities as well.. Ah, the suspense.. Don't you just love it? 9.gif

There.. Well, I'm keeping you in suspense for a little while longer, but I hope to have something for you wonderful commenters by tomorrow and if I can't restrain myself I might even have something by tonight.. Who knows?

In any case, thanks for your comments and thanks for supporting the Empire of Chaumont! 44.gif

    Jarno,

Wow that update was simply amazing, it also left a great cliffhanger for us to wonder who was it. Part of me thinks its Pakkusena, but maybe a rival emeror wants power so he assassinates Napoleon.... who knows. Can't wait to find out!

Phew.. It's here, everyone.. The most anticipated update for The Empire of Chaumont.. I've been working hard in Paint Shop Pro and Simcity yesterday and today and what you will see below is the fruit of my labour.. 9.gif

As we've done before, I will first go to the personal replies and then onwards to the update..

    Personal Replies:

6Underground: Thanks, 6U! I wanted to mention that in my previous reply, but I forgot, so here goes: thanks for mentioning the events in Chaumont in your City Journal! I saw that and was definitely pleasantly surprised! Anyway, thanks for your comment!

Pipishere: The same goes for you, Pipishere! Thanks for mentioning the events in Chaumont in your own City Journal! Very surprising and very nice to see indeed.. Thanks so much for commenting again and feel free to shift on your seat, because the update is here.. 9.gif

Jerebannus XVI: lol.. Thanks for your comments! (And you're welcome..) I hope you didn't bite your fingers down to stubs.. You're going to need them to scroll down.. 18.gif

Pepsi71Ocean: You did get my PM.. The one I meant was the one in which I replied to your PM about sending my own reply to your e-mail adress.. I didn't reply to the one you had sent earlier, because I didn't have time to do so yet.. I hope I can find the time to do so tonight, but I fear that when I finish this update it'll be time to call it a night for me.. Anyway, try to leave the poor punching bag alone for a while.. 9.gif

Cjah: You're about to find out, Cjah! Well.. A little.. In any case: thanks for your comment!

Hammo: lol.. I had a feeling my reply to your comments could have that effect on some people.. In fact, I was secretly enjoying that feeling as well.. But have no fear, Hammo, the update is here for real now.. Thanks for your comment!

Kumba: Hey Kumba! Long time no see.. Thanks for your comment! The update should give a little bit of clarity.. But you know me.. Trying to keep the suspense alive.. 9.gif

Kant01: Haha.. Thanks for the Ducky, Kant01! And thanks for your comment! I'll try to keep the drama alive and kicking as long as I can without it becoming too tedious.. Enjoy!

Personal Reply time is over, Update time is here! Also, just so you all know, I've decided to dedicate this update to Nik-nik, whose questions lead to two of the images you will see below.. Without his questions, they would've probably never been made.. Enjoy, everyone! 9.gif

    Update181.jpg

    INN-CambronneHospital-sharp22.jpg

Jerry Jumper: Welcome back to the Imperial News Network, Ladies and Gentlemen.. Allow me to recap the events as they've played out since the attack on Parade Avenue. The Emperor and the Grand Marshal were rushed to General Cambronne Memorial hospital immediately after the event. At least twenty three Imperial Guardsmen were killed and another sixty four were injured, many of which seriously.. Unfortunately, the extent of the injuries of the Emperor and the Grand Marshal are still unknown to us at this moment, though witnesses report that the Grand Marshal appeared to be more heavily injured than the Emperor..

    INN-MissileSite1.jpg

Jerry Jumper: Immediately after the attack, the Imperial Police stormed the First Imperial Cathedral and apprehended three men who were hiding in the bell tower. As far as we can tell at this moment, no shots were exchanged and the men came along willingly. Minutes after the men were escorted away to the headquarters of the Imperial Police for interrogation, a policeman was spotted by one of our reporters as he left the crime scene with a missile launcher, which was immediately turned over to crime scene investigators..

At the moment we are not sure who's behind the attack, but we did receive a communication from the office of the Imperial Chancellor which offered a limited amount of clues.. This communication was not meant to point blame, though.. It was merely meant to inform the public of the fact that the Empire is henceforth put under martial law.. Let's take a look at the announcement..

    MartialLawDeclaration-top3.jpg
    MartialLawDeclaration-bottom4.jpg

Jerry Jumper: This state of Martial Law, in effect at this very moment, has had clear implications on the inner workings of the Empire and all it's services. As we speak, I am being watched by a number of Imperial Guardsmen, keeping a clear eye and ear on this report and making sure that you are being told exactly what you need to know..

    INN-MartialLaw4-sharp25.jpg

Jerry Jumper: These images are a few hours old at the moment and show the arrival of the Imperial Guard near the Supreme Court of the Empire and the Mont Napoleon Tram Depot. An eerie silence descended on the capital as soon as the sun had set. People dissappeared off the streets and into their homes and as soon as the tanks, trucks and jeeps appeared, not a single civilian could be seen on Mont Napoleon's streets, which are usually vibrating with life on a night like this..

    INN-MartialLaw3-sharp21.jpg

Jerry Jumper: The Headquarters of the Herald Sun, one of the few newspapers in the Empire with permission to publish a certain amount of critical reports against the Imperial Government, was occuppied minutes after the curfew went into effect. Due to the current state of Martial Law, every form of media, including television, radio and newspapers are under a certain amount of censorship to ensure the public's protection against unwanted and radical opinions..

    INN-MartialLaw6-sharp22.jpg

Jerry Jumper: In these images, we see a contingent of Marshal Murat Battletanks entering the Citadel of Mont Napoleon to secure vital locations and to protect the streets of the Capital.. No breaches of the curfew have been reported as of yet, but the Imperial Guard is clearly not taking any chances..

    INN-MartialLaw2-sharp23.jpg

Jerry Jumper: These tanks, moving away from Mont Napoleon Central Station in order to secure the two railroad bridges leading into the city, lead to a number of complaints by concerned residents as they heard their plates, cups and glasses vibrating in their cabinets, but since they have passed by now, the Imperial Guard has informed us that it regards the matter as closed..

Ofcourse the Imperial News Network is not the only news network in the world that has responded to the terrorist attack in Mont Napoleon. Our respected colleagues of the BBC World Service were reporting live from Chaumont minutes after the attack and are still broadcasting on the situation as we speak.. Let's tune in for a moment..

    BBC-MartialLaw1-sharp24.jpg

Unknown voice: ..shattering part of the podium on which the Emperor and the Grand Marshal were standing. Dozens of soldiers were killed in the blast, dozens more are reported to be seriously injured. Our correspondent at the scene is..

Jerry Jumper: Our friends from the United States have also paid attention to the dreadful events in the Empire and we will now turn to the Fox News Channel for a bit of their coverage..

    Fox-MartialLaw5-sharp25.jpg

Unknown Voice: ..not the standard operating procedure of Al-Qaeda, Ken, so I don't think that's very likely.. As we know, Chaumont has been having some problems with Pakkusena recently and it's relationship with Rodina has also been tense for the past few months.. For all we know, this event could be tied in..

Jerry Jumper: Pardon the interruption, Ladies and Gentlemen, but we are now switching live to the Imperial Palace where something appears to be happening..

    INN-PalaceHalfstaff-sharp21.jpg

Jerry Jumper: We have just received official confirmation from the Imperial Chancellor's office that Chaumontian flags throughout the Empire have been ordered to halfstaff, the official mourning position.. We do not know for whom this tribute is meant, but we will try to find out as soon as possible.. Please stay with us..

    TO BE CONTINUED..

    Jarno,

Wow! Another fantastic update! Highy suspense right now! That update must took quite some time, but boy was it worth it! I love this story so far and can't wait to see what happens. My guess is that the emperor still lives but the guy who got hurt died thats why the flag is at half staff, and maybe some riot under martial law. Great work as always!

Of course in Pakkusena side, we would have to object the explusion of our ambassador.

    Nice update, jarno.

That explains a lot without giving away too much. 2.gif   I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I'm extremely interested to see how this turns out.  Nice use of the local cable news outlet to tell the results of what happened to the Emperor and the Marshall.

I work for the US Army. I go places, visit mean people, and kill them.

Winston Churchill is generall credited for saying something to the effect of: "People sleep soundly in their beds because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf". That about sums up my life, besides the "rough men" part.

WOW!6.gif, I've been keeping up on reading your CJ but haven't had time to reply untill now, and I just have to reitterate what I said in my first post in this CJ, This is the most detailed and impressive CJ here, (or something like that). Jarno, I can see how  you put your teaching and history knowledge into this CJ. I especially liked the comedy in the Fox News Ticker in the most recent update... Fox News is fair and ballanced, concludes new study by Fox News.  It's good to see you still have a sense of humor in a sad situation like this. I would also like you to know that Chaumont has the full unconditional support of Trinidad, which is my New CJ, scheduled to hit the CJ's page in the following weeks, you also have the support of all US miliatary personel stationed at the numerous bases in Trinidad.

Keep up the good work44.gif, and update soon, I can't wait!,
