I don't understand how one can effectively practice a speech. Yes, you can refine what you plan to say on your own just fine, but I find that how I speak is utterly situation dependent and it will unavoidably be different if I am talking to a wall, or to one or two people, compared to a crowd. It will also be different if the crowd I am in front of is a different crowd in a different place. So, basically, practicing is impossible for me. Mentally, I just cannot roleplay a situation. Don't tell me to talk to you like I would talk to person X. All you will get is: "Error: You are not person X".

Last night, a family of cats (a black-and-white mother, two black kittens, and a really small scruffy kitten who closely resembled the mother) entered our apartment via the balcony and started sleeping in the middle of the carpet and around my pet tortoise's cage. I couldn't sleep, so I took out a d6 (for those of you who don't know, that's a six-sided die) and rolled it six times. The numbers I got were 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, in that order. According to my calculator, the odds of that are at least 1 out of 46,000 - possibly more.

Also, since I'm moving apartments in less than three hours, I'll be offline for the next two days, so bye for now.

Odd to be moving in the middle of the month. Around here, leases pretty much always start the 1st of the month and end on the last day of the month, so the first weekend of the month is move-in weekend and the last weekend of the month is move-out weekend.

This can make moving tricky since you will need to either find temporary lodging for you and all your stuff for a week, find a landlord who will let you move in early, or pay the rent for two apartments for one month. Or, if you sublet, move in and move out times tend to be more flexible.

Yah, but I suppose I'm taking the whole thing in as a whole. Sure there are bad parts, and here there are a LOT, but the small bits that are good that stick out give me at least some hope for this city. Call me a person in denial, but I like to look at the bright side of things.
