Oh what about that tornado in Auckland, i thought New Zealand didnt have tornadoes, but seems like it is commom there.

Its not that common here at all really. We have had a few in the past, but it is no where near common.

The watermarks have a reason why they exist, duke.

Oh, I understand that, I just fundamentally disagree with that line of thinking. First of all, watermarks are ugly. They spoil the picture. And as for the reason why they're put there, it just comes across as an obnoxious exercise in futility. Realistically, if you don't want someone stealing your pictures, the only way to stop that from happening is to not post them on the internet. The instant you post them, they're there for the taking. If they are worth stealing, inevitably eventually someone will steal them, and there is nothing you can do to stop it - all measures such as watermarking serve to do are to be a pain in the ass not only of the thief but of everyone else as well.

So, I take a different approach. I don't kid myself into thinking I have any control over what I post, and I don't bother trying to.

Look, a rail picture!

You want it? Take it, it's yours! Do anything you want with it!

In fact, I would take it as a compliment if I found out that someone stole one of my pictures since that would mean that clearly they liked it. People don't steal things that don't have value!

My state got tornadoes too, but it is spread in all the state, we got them in all the seasons, even in winter. But its like 20-30 a year,or less.

There is no such thing as a watermark which doesn't disturb the view. It's graffiti on the image no matter how you do it.

Agreed. Graffiti is a great art form and I can't pictue a railyard without any. Now graffiti on say, someone's garage door, that's a no-no as far as I'm concerned. I also applaud graffiti written on drab ugly concrete supports. Why not spruce it up a bit?

There is graffiti or tagging, is which pure vandalism, and then there is street art, which is awesome! Street art is great, because the artist know how to respect their surroundings, they know how to actually produce a work of art, and its an expression of their artistic style.

Theres a great example just around the corner from me, I'll post it here once later on today once I walk past and take a picture of it.

There is a graffiti artist around here named Sayer. His/her stuff is pretty awesome. I'd snap a pic myself but I really never have a camera on me. My phone doesn't count. That camera is junk.

Actual graffiti on things isn't necessarily bad. But that's not the point. The point is that a picture of something should not be needlessly marked up with artificial enhancements. If your name was spraypainted on the side of the platform, I wouldn't mind seeing it in the picture. But I don't want to see it photoshopped in. That's ugly.

WA (Western Australian NOT Washington) was about a month or so away from not being part of Australia, we got shoehorned in and as a result the constitution whenever it references us says "Providing Western Australia is an original state"
