To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Duke, is that a 2009/10 Ford Focus? Isn't the speedometer really hard to read? It increases every 20 mph, or do the notches on the outside help considerably?

(5166)

2009, yes.

As for the spedometer, there are notches every 5 mph. Not difficult to read at all. The metric ring is a little tougher to read precisely, but still good enough.

Better then when the bus is an Hour late and you have to stand in the rain for over an hour with only a thin waterproof and post to keep you dry (it wasn't a shelter).

At least it's generally sunny in Australia for when your bus/train/etc. is delayed or cancelled.

Sports cars are nice to look at but I wouldn't want to drive one. Even if I were a billionaire, I would still want a car with good fuel economy. And I wouldn't want to drive around something that screams "hey, look at me!", I'd much rather drive something ordinary and nondescript. Besides, nice car = more attractive target for thieves and other miscreants.

You want a car with a high fuel economy? Then you could have bought yourself with a electric car...

If it ever becomes more practical and less expensive, I just might.

It should be noted, though, that they aren't as efficient as the labels claim. They cite figures as high as 100 MPG equivalent, but that's just the car itself - it doesn't take into account the inefficiencies in generating and transmitting power. Realistically, an electric car is not effectively any more energy efficient than a hybrid.

However, seeing as electricity is cheaper to the end user than gasoline, extra cost savings are realized even if extra energy savings are not.

There are a TON of incredible cars that are inexpensive, fast, fun to drive, and reasonably efficient without making you look like a BMW driver (NOT a good thing).

Let's see... Subaru Legacy 2.5GT & Impreza WRX, Honda S2000, the current Mustang (GT & V6), Ford Focus ST/SVT versions, VW Golf GTI, Honda Civic Type R, Nissan Maxima SE (any of the 90s model years), Dodge Charger SRT8 (and just play RT is good enough), and I've run out of easily accessed memory to prevent me from listing any more without hitting up Google.

The current V6 Mustang packs 310(!) horsepower and gets better than 30 highway mpg. The previous generation Mustang GT's V8 produced only about 310 hp and didn't get nearly that kind of mileage. The turbo Subarus are difficult to beat as well in the power/mileage ratio, and any of a number of hot hatches are fun and efficient without making you look like a pink-shirt, popped-collar d-bag. The old Maximas are also reasonably efficient and quite sporty for being a four door sedan, and the Focus' rally heritage makes it a lot sportier than its price tag and compact car image would suggest. Focus is a lot more real-world user-friendly than a Konigseggegeegegoggoggesseiggog anyways, and I'm sure that the repair bills and time spent being repaired versus actually driving it are vastly superior as well.

I'd like a Tesla Roadster. A bit out of my price range right now, though. :P

Their Model S may be more affordable, and more suited to my needs. I'd still need to save up a lot for it.

Toyota Prius. Economical. Hybrid. Really Nice dashboard with easy to read Speed dials. In fact the speed dials are just numbers with your speed. Shows how much your Pollution you are poducing. Quite a nice look and you dont often see many around so i would consider it as a rarity.

My dream car? Spyker C-12 Zagato, they're bloody expensive though (at least I'm assuming because you can't find a price anywhere) and there's only like 24 of them in the world :P

ooo, a Spyker, good choice. I can't decide what I would go for, if I had the choice. I used to like Zonda, but now not so much, could go along the usual route, Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Mercedes, McClaren, but those are the 'usual' luxury cars. I think, GT by Citroen, I saw it at the 2008 Paris Motor show, its an incredible machine. (ignore the fact that you can't actually buy them because they only made 6 :P)

See right now I'm driving around in a kei-car, a 660cc glorified golf cart. If I was to get in a Prius right now and drive it like I stole it, it would feel like a rocket ship!

The glamorous European sports cars never did it for me. Don't get me wrong, I'd never turn down the opportunity to drive one, and I don't look down on them at all, but if we're talking ownership? I'd go the American or Japanese route: NSX, ZR-1, Viper, GT-R...

And then I remember Aston Martin. Ah, Aston Martin, you have built the most beautiful cars in the world over the course of your history, from the iconic DB5 right on down to our current Unicorn, the DB9. Of all the cars in the world, James Bond drives these. I would give up a body part for an Aston Martin, even if it's only a V8 Vantage because LOOK AT THEM. Oh god, look at them...
