As Astro said, a republican (notice the lower case r) in Aus (and the UK) is someone who believes the monarch should be abolished. That being said whilst I am one, I do have great respect for Her Majesty the Queen and HRH the Duke of Cambridge (and of course the Duchess). Prince Charles and the Duke of York on the other hand...

American republicans are very, very conservative, The democrates are only very conservative. That's why they are more popular than the republicans, where I live.

We have big amount of political parties in Slovakia, not only conservative, but also anarchist, liberal, socialist, communist, ultra-nationalist and fascist parties. About 26 parties together(and currently 6 of them are in parliament).

My father refers to CNN as "See it Again and Again"... a name which was a bit more apropos back when it was the only 24/7 news network on TV. Now that 24/7 news is normal, it doesn't pack as much zing.

On Good Friday, 1930, the BBC's 6:30 news report was a short statement, "There is no news", followed by 15 minutes of piano music. Reference.
