Trivordam: The Source of Opportunity

Untitled-1_edited-1.jpg

Hello everyone, this is my newest creation: Trivordam. Located in Gregory Valley, it is the city with the highest population - even higher than Grigoria, the capital.

I will work on this city from the CBD on, as I have worked on a quite rarely seen grid method. The city will thrive on Offices, Industry and a bit of Agriculture.

Most of the first pictures were taken in the '60s, to give a small first impression of the CBD. This city will build on realism, so no 100% paradise city - sorry!

Here are the pictures, expect an update about once a week or so, because I do not have much time.

An overview

The stadium

The bridges going over the sunken expressway:

I decided to add a few skyscrapers, to make the city look more realistic and make the few left really pop out.

One of the older, poorer, parts of the city.

I hope you enjoyed the first update!

This might be an odd thing to like, but I love the parking lots by the stadium.  I don't personally like to use custom content, but parking lots seem to be a major urban land use completely omitted from the game.

I've played around with the plaza tool, and the euro pack plaza tool to make something resembling parking areas...  I was thinking decreasing the quantity of ornaments or whatever might help, but it's simply not the same.

I look forward to seeing more.

Very impressive.. Although personally I'd prefer untouched pictures -- these are a bit too grainy for my taste 2.gif

Thanks for the comments guys! I'll explain you how to make the sunken expressway later.

@ ACEH: the parking lots come with the unlocker mod version 3.

@ Jesse Swiss: Yes I plan not to use that much curves for a part of the downtown area. Later on I will use them, though.

@Jazye: I know 2.gif I made them grainy because I got distracted by the unfinished areas when making the pictures. Next time I'll keep that in mind!

Expect an update at the end of the week, or maybe a bit earlier. 4.gif

Again, thank you for the nice comments, I put a lot of effort in it.

    Cool!

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

    Trivordamupdate.jpg

Hey guys, I've been working a bit on the south side of downtown, and I tried to make a bit of a good, easy transition from grid to a free-road district. I am finally satisfied, so I'll show you a couple of pictures.

Here's the progress so far. You can see the area of south downtown being almost complete, and a downtown park. A name will follow 2.gif

    gamescreen0248.jpg

What do you think about the transition of building style?

    gamescreen0250.jpg

Hopefully I'll put a bigger update online somewhere in the weekend, so see you then.

Hope you enjoyed update 1, and see you soon 4.gif

Thank you for the Replies man, I am currently having problems with Trivordam because I removed the mods and installed only those which I like. Now it seems I forgot the one important mod, so it crashes instantly. Wish me luck on finding it, I have little hope 15.gif

Indeed, it was 'back then' joverbeeke. And I have too little experience with Cities XL to tell if Sim City lost its place (only played the demo of Cities XL). But times change and 'freeform' has been the magic word for some years.

Damastius: good luck in restoring your mods, doesn't the game create error logs with names of missing mods? Some games do i.e..
