GT5 (Gran Turismo 5)

I've played the third and fourth one and they were awesome. I haven't played Gt5 yet, and I was wondering if anyone else played it, and if so, what do u guys think of it?

GT5 isn't out yet.

It's been delayed again -- and according to the game developer, it will be "out before Christmas".

I thought they had it out. Darn. (I hadn't bought it, or at least tried to because of my computer specs).

But it will be after Christmas when I get my new comp.

GT5 has only been released as a "prologue". I really want to play it as I have also played GT3 and 4 on the PS2. I hope that you can finally drift in GT5

In most other games drifting is one of the most fun parts about it so I agree entirely on that one.

On top of that, GT is more of an arcade game than something like NFS, but from the looks in one of their trailers it looks very fun.

1) GT5 will be released for the PlayStation 3 (thats it)

2) It is a simulation (realistic), not an arcade game

3) It is going to be FUN!!!

Though with the release of this, I will probably spend more time on it than here

Also, 4) You can drift in GT5. It's just more challenging to do than say, in NFS.

I have GT5 Prologue on playstation 3 and the graphics are awesome. I've nearly completed it though so I wish they would bring out the full thing. Also, to comment on earlier posts, I thought you could drift in GT3 as well because when you go into arcade mode and go through all the options (select car, auto or manual transmission), there is an option asking if you want to drift or race.

Ya, I have Prologue and it was geat. Apparently GT5 has a ton of new stuff though: go karts, NASCAR, winshield wipers, every detail you could think of was there. Kinda justifies the delays if you ask me.

Thats the wrong release date.

The reason for this delay has been to do with the production of the disks, however it should be out before Christmas.

Add to that list, WRC, night time racing, night/day transitions, high and low beam headlights, damage both mechanical and aesthetical, weather which is randomly generated through out endurance races (so you could start out in the sunshine, but half way through goes to rain) which is all based upon the air pressure and temperature which is randomly generated, and you could also choose to race in the rain, snow, mist, and all in day, evening, night or morning, or all three, dust accumulation, and probably rain accumulation, working horns, and probably working indicators, over 1000 cars, and over 100 tracks, or variations of tracks, A full B-spec mode, and a track generator which you can customize the amount of turns, the banking, the length, and many other changeable elements, you are also able to manage your B-spec races over the internet, even when your not on the same network. There are also many other unconfirmed things like changing your drivers outfit and fully animated pitstops, And the possibility of one more really big feature that has not been announced yet, but thats another conversation.

At the moment it should be out before christmas, and rumors are between the 20^th and 30^th of september.

I personally can't wait!

I heared that GT5 will feature the Top Gear Test Track (Dunsfold Park) as a playable track. Is this true? If so then AWESOME!

It certainly will be, its been confirmed for quite a while now.

Forza is worse for invisible things.... Clip the grass and you go from 200mph to 30. And this is why im annoyed i have a 360.

GT is the most simulated car racing game you can get, on a PS3.

They don't call it "the real driving simulator".

For example every detail about the car is logged and put into the game to be simulated by its physics system. The cars bhp, its torque output, its weight, and the positioning of that weight, the choice of tyres, the choice of breaks, the engine, the drivetrain, the flywheels, the gear ratios, the suspension... I could go on, but I won't.

And then there is new stuff that will get simulated on the fly, like weather on endurance races. If you set it to dynamic then it will randomly generate some atmospheric data, like moisture, pressure, temperature, and use these to simulate what the weather is going to behave like through out your race. Then there is karting with face tracking, if you lean your head to one side, you change the center of gravity on your cart and this in turn helps you to corner better, faster and tighter. Tyre smoke is apparently generated through some data that they obtained where they measured the heat out put from real life tyres to the point where they started to smoke, and then used that data and simulated the heat of the tyres in game to determine when they would actually start to smoke, they same thing with skid marks.

And if you just tap the breaks while going around a corner on the ring, your going to be thrown off, just like real life.

But if the game is so close to being released woulden't it be a wise business move to name the release date, i find it hard to believe they would wait to Nov 29th and then have a press release saying its coming out November 30th.

I know, which is why I'm still cautious. You would have thought that they should have said something by now, but I think they just want to get everything sorted out before they announce it, they didn't last time and it was atrocious, so maybe they just want to wait until they have everything sorted, shipping and making sure the stores can handle it. Let's hope that something is said next week, or else the speculated release date will probably be push back further.

Yea i would expect at least a month between the announcement and the game shipping so if there isn't a press release by the time November ends i woulden't get my hopes up till 2011.

I think it should be safe to say that we get an announcement this week sometime. 550,000 copies have supposedly been shipped to france, and a launch party date has been announced for 24^{th and 25th of November, which was supposed to be the week before it was supposed to be launched last time around. So the 30th for north America is sounding pretty good. Although, an official announcement would be better than speculation.}
