Just a warning: Don't use the super demand ordinance mod in SimMars! It'll wipe out your regions folder!

The installer doesn't work. I can double click it and then my computer stops responding and I have to do a reboot to get it to work again. Any ideas? Thanks

I might have an idea for the spaceport problem. If you want, you could try contacting some of the well known modders in SC4devotion and see if there's anybody willing to help. Like, try getting the airport team over there to help us out. You might also want to try to get some NAM members to help us. We need everybody to produce more mods, BATs, etc. for us quickly.

Good morning everyone.

I've followed this mod for some time, and just recently downloaded and installed the beta 3 release on my home comp and my laptop. However, it will not run for me what-so-ever. When I run the launcher, it will run in task manager, but it will just shutdown with no error messages after a few seconds. The only problem I can potentially see is that I am running the Steam version of SC4D.

Any help would be most appreciated, and please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks!

Hmm, Good catch!  Steam is pretty.. different when it comes to Steam Store-bought games. I'll have to investigate how to make it work with it. Worst case scenario, I can't make it reliably launch Simmars from within Steam and I'll simply add a toggle to enable/disable Simmars.

Heh, I'm just glad it wasn't user error on my part. =P

If you need any help testing it, feel free to ask, I'll do what I can. Either way, great job so far on this mod!

When launching Simmars3 see this notice:

Unable to launch SimMars: Accesso negato

Please close SimCity 4 if it is running. Also please ensure that the plugins, regions and music folder are not in use

Do you have any tools that are looking at any plutogins or music? They could be blocking the launcher from moving the directories around.

If you’re having trouble with the SimMars music not playing automatically, you need to install this mod:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/a00xxk7ij4xh5ua/Music.zip

Without it, you have to enable custom music in order to hear music, but you can’t select which tracks are allowed to play, and you can’t preview tracks, either.

In other words, it’s not a necessity, only a recommendation.

I've noticed some quirks about the new Beta 3 version besides the tree in the road and the non functioning water tower. I'm not sure if this is an isolated case, but after 8,000 Sims my city seems to go out of control. There is an unrealistic demand for residences, and no matter how many high rise apartments are built, the demand doesn't seem to go down. With the spike in that demand, there is a very low demand for the Commercial sector. The number of patients at the hospitals skyrocket after a certain amount of people, and by the time I hit 15,000 they are out of control (like 1200+). The commute times seem outrageous, no matter what I do, the commute times are almost 40 minutes in a city of 15,000. The funny thing though, is that after 8000 Sims, the budget seems very easy to balance. It's probably the way that I keep the density high, but there might be some underlying problems causing these quirks. Other than that, it's been great.

I've been playing Simmars for about a month now, and am absolutely loving it. However I've noticed some quirks and problems.

It seems that after I place a small police station, i can no longer place police kiosks. If I do the game crashes. I can place them before I plop the station though.

Agriculture demand is always sky high for me in all my colonies, but no matter how much I zone for it it wont grow. About 10 lots seem to grow, but then nothing, even though demand is still super high.

Also only the pyramid farms seem to grow, no other kind of farm.

I think thats it, but I'll keep my eye out for more.

Thanks for a great mod guys!

I'm having a strange problem with zoning. Whenever I try to zone any type, It'll either appear as a large block of zone with the road connection arrows facing one way, or nothing at all. It started happening a few hours ago, and I can't fix it. However, it rarely DOES work. I'll get a picture soon.

Hi everyone,

I try to play this game for the first time this week, it's just so great ! However I'm stuck with a bug that lead my game to crash.

I build the small airport. Once completed I'm immediately asked if I want to upgrade it. I say yes. Once the upgrade is completed, the game crashes. Half a second before the crash I can just see the airport's upgrade is completed with green grass.

The Airport crash is because there is only one Airport -- it can't upgrade! Soon we will have the other two (or actually, EIGHT) lots. For now, just don't upgrade.

I'm having problems with the agriculture, too. Anyone else?

Pikman -- your problem sounds like a sticky keyboard to me. Try rapidly toggling the CTRL, Shift, and Alt keys to be sure they aren't hanging.

Nope, no problem with the keyboard that I can tell. But I have a bigger problem now. This prevents me from acually playing.

I have a colony of about 150,000 residents. I'll open the city (paused), and there are no problems. But when I unpause it, the game crashes and I'm returned to my desktop. I can't find anyway to fix this, I'm guessing it's something with the codeing of Simmars. I really want to get back to my awesome city. Has this happened to anyone else, and can I fix it?

(Also, it's saved on the date 3/27. It crashes after a few seconds, when the date hits 4/01.)

Post a screenshot of the city and try to remember what changes you made most recently.

Certainly.

High density and Commerce Valley.

This is the most recent zoning I did before it started crashing. Notice the date.

Why am I the only one with a BUNCH of problems?

Or maybe I'm not. Does anyone else suddenly get loads of pollution data at random? Air and water. The whole map is covered with a mix of yellow, orange, and red pollution data. And the colony gets covered by tons of smog.

I know it's a mod and it's in beta, but I'm starting to get a little annoyed.

Well, during my experiences with SMB3, the Agriculture does have a problem. For example, zoning it will sometimes cause Maxis farmland to grow but not the building itself.

ok so I tested Sim mars beta 3 in linux SC4... and first of all your program couldn't find the sc4 documents folder's location (wine should have told it where it was) the only difference was that it was looking for my documents/sc4 instead of user/sc4 so.... you might want to make that user set able

other than that the terrain seemed to load fine... but I couldn't get the mods to work independently of the program you set them up with.

mostly what happened was that the terrain loaded fine, region loaded fine, text was missing, everything was missing from the menu's exept for the images on the GUI (not linux problem as it didn't happen before the mod)

so yeah... that's about it.  other than that though it works good... I'm trying beta 2 just to be sure it isn't a general bug... will report back on results

EDIT: Ok so I have DL and tested beta 2 and it works fine... a glitch here and there but nothing un expected I'm posting images as proof

Sim mars region

City mode

EDIT: beta 3 shows up like the image I discribed at the beginning of this post... I couldn't get the program to load Sim mars Beta 3 the normal way so I just put the plugins into the plugins folder... however I'm checking the main SC4 dir to see if there is a folder there as well that I need to transfer... here is a pic of the problem atm

Sim mars B3 issue

If I try to open a city the game crashes back to desktop.
