Download pre-built metropolis

For a project I want to do, I'm looking for a pre-constructed city/region that I can download. I'm looking for something that is very developed with a population approaching 500k+ on a decent-sized map. I'm looking for something similar to a real-world citiy, with a mixture of skyscrapers, mid-rise structures, highways, avenues, and the like. I'd prefer it if it was done with standard SC4RH, so I don't have to worry about compatability and getting custom files.

Does anyone have a city like this that they'd be willing to share?

STEX rules forbid the upload of regions with pre-built cities. This is because the cities would use too much bandwith.

If you can find someone with a city hosted somewhere else, you could get it there. I'd share mine, but right now it's not finished and I got nowhere to host it. Some people might have externally hosted regions.

Just as an experiment, I tried creating an archive with my current region.  Came to 25.2MB.  But it is full of STEX stuff, so you'd also have to pick up all my plugins, which is against the STEX rules.  My plugins compress to 93.4MB.  You can see that this is not a horrendous download, but the region is barely started with only about eight or nine cities in it just getting going.

You can all do what you wish (on a one-on-one basis... not as a "public forum") so that you can share/build among each other.. it would require using either a server set up by one of you or a "file server" such as fileden.com where you can post files free for a period of time.. there are numerous of these so you'd all have to agree and share access data among yourselves. This has all been done many times before, but really has generated very little broad interest due to individual playing styles and problems with keeping a common shared database of custom content sychronized amongst you all.

i got premade region with cities from simcity.ea.com http://simcity.ea.com/coolstuff/citiesregions/index.php is maxis region. http://simcity.ea.com/coolstuff/citiesregions/index.php. It took me a while to import region but now ive perfected it. all the cities on simcity.com are free of mods

I'd be overly cautious about downloading any complete city or region from any site other than Maxis. First, the built city has to be all vanilla Maxis objects. I do not trust swapping cities or regions with custom content even if I have all of the required plugins. Second, you risk receiving malware if you download a complete city or region from someone else.

I recommend that you take the time to get familiar with the tutorials and build your cities from scratch. Eventually the learning from the tutorials and hands-on experience will pay off.

I personally am against downloading cities. I actually love to actually watch the towns evolve.

For a beginner, a pre built metropolis would be a bit too much to handle, and you risk getting malware. So with that said I just recommend following the tutorial cities and building from the ground up yourself.

It isn't that hard to get a small town up on its feet, is it? Take a few months and you may have yourself something fantastic.  I have built large downtowns, metropolis style, and if I and everyone else learned to do it, so can you.

Is this a real concern?  Is it possible to get malware attached to an SC4 file?

I downloaded Wren Weburg's Maxislands from SC4EVER.com. One point to remember that it is a region with just vanilla Maxis items.
