It is and it was made to wrap up the series after fans demanded the show be brought back, which is never going to happen.

I like anything sci-fi and/or fantasy based, could give a rats backside for anything else.

Some of us have had the advantage of seeing a lot of pictures in theaters when we were young. My absolute all-time favorite motion picture is Gone with the Wind starring Leslie Howard, Olivia De Havilland, Clark Gable and that new ingenue actress Elizabeth Taylor (oops) Vivien Leigh. They have never made anything to compare with it.

Totally agreed!!! It's also my favorite forever!!! I've watched it more than 5 times. :)

I am too lazy to check whether I have mentioned this before but the death of Elizabeth Taylor reminded me that one of my favorite pictures is The Taming of the Shrew with Taylor and Burton. I consider it to be a definitive performance of the Shakespeare play.

Other Taylor performances I enjoyed, but are not on my absulute favourites list are:

National Velvet

BUtterfield 8

Cleopatra

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Father of the Bride

There are lots of good movies!

I like Toy Story very much, but also Coraline, or movies like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Amélie Poulain always puts a smile on my face. Persepolis is very good too.

I also like older movies, such as Ladri di biciclete,...

Little Miss Sunshine and Juno are absolute favorites!

I recently watched Forrest Gump too (for the very first time, in what other universe was I? :P ), I liked it!

And then I think I must've forgotten dozens of other movies :)

Interesting.

Just Enjoyed the 1975 version of The Count Of Monte Cristo.

Some pretty big names Richard Chamerlain,Trevor Howard,Donald Pleasence

Tony Curtis

Not bad for a made for TV movie.

I may need to read these books some day.

Is it Just me or is Louis Jourdan a dead ringer for Michael Palin of Monty Python?

Le Compte de Monte Cristo was on my Grade XI reading list in French. It was considered to be a good vocabulary builder without a lot of funny vernacular terms.

Can't imagine a remake of "The Thing". Did you know the giant carrot was played by James Areness in the original make? Long way from Gunsmoke.

They are making a remake of Red Dawn. The original plot was that the Soviets invade America and only a small band of high school students called the "Wolverines" push back the assault http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_dawn. The remake is basically the same thing, only its the People's Liberation Army of China that invade the US: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Dawn_(2011_film).

Hollywood will get us in trouble yet.

I forgot to mention that I like The Great Dictator (Charlie Chaplin).

From the supplied links on the "Red Dawn" remake, it seems Hollywood has gotten cold feet, and post-edited the Chinese Yellow Peril in the movie to instead be invading North Koreans. Can't offend the most lucrative market in Asia, let alone its state censors.

I'm still waiting for last year's Japanese blockbuster "Space Battleship Yamato" to find a U.S. distributor. I may be waiting a long while, as after seeing the fan response despite the post-war Japanese patiotism-run-amok hackneyed acting and Steve Tyler's "Armageddon"-esque soundtrack, it seems Hollywood last month has announced instead it will try again to make its own version of the movie. That's not a good thing, as the last time Hollywood tried this with Disney, they opted to de-ethnicise and Americanize the story, going so far as to change the signature spaceship of the famous series from a rebuilt sunken Japanese flagship Yamato to a rebuilt Pearl Harbor icon USS Arizona! Fans howled. Even the redubbed and bowdlerized "Star Blazers" animated series, in renaming the spaceship Yamato to the Argo in reference to the West's classic of the "Argonauts," was no where near so crass.

Amusingly, it is blatantly obvious that the new "Space Battleship Yamato" Japanese live-action movie borrows from the remake of the "Battlestar Galactica" TV series, which is all in good fun considering how the original "Battlestar Galactica" series borrowed from the original "Uchuu Senkan Yamato" animated series.

Ah well, if they all play this right we could be in fandom heaven, as there is a lot of material to use to make a line of movies. World War II battleships in space...how can they mess this up!

Hmmm...I hear a "Robotech" movie is in the works for 2012, and a "Cowboy Bebob" as well.
