Another record set for the Avengers this weekend, it's now the fastest to $500M. It took 22 days, whereas TDK took 32. The Avengers is within a few days of overtaking the third spot in biggest BO in both WW and domestic. Absolutely insane how this film is raking in the greenbacks hand over fist at such a rapid pace.

With Ridley Scot directing it should be very very good, Don't think it will raking avengers money but it should do well.

Obviously that won't happen. I just hope it does well enough that Ridley will want to continue working in the Alien universe. Rumor has it he's already working on a sequel, but I haven't been able to verify that yet.

I didn't get the chance to see the Avengers, but I am hoping to snag a copy from Netflix or the like.

For upcoming films, I am looking forward to Such Great Heights. This one is about a man who takes up martial arts and goes against a champion (wait, didn't Rocky follow this plot?)

Viewed the john Carter movie this afternoon.

Lots of thud and blunder. Some parts quite faithful to A Princess of Mars but the main plot came out of some pot dream by the writer, or maybe he was on LSD.

Excellent graphics all around, especially the hexapodal creatures of Barsoom: tharks, white apes, banths, the riding beasts of the tharks, and of course, good old Woola, the dog. Loved it.

The producers must have had a burr under their saddle trying to explain the teleport line between Barsoom and Jasoom. This caused a very corrupt version of the Holy Therns who, i don't think, were in the first volume of this long novel to say nothing of the loss of the subtleties of the original plot. I sorely missed Zat Arrras^* leaping to his death from an airship after his defeat. The rest of the plot was spaghetti western. Very Star Wars in a small way.\

A sequel? It is possible, or possibly not.

I am not much of a fan of monstrous alien movies. I think this horror genre is thoroughly over worked.

Saw Prometheus this afternoon. Fantastic movie and the ending, well, I'm looking forward to the sequel that is definitely coming. What EB isn't telling you is that Prometheus is about much more than just the xenomorphs from the Alien films. I saw it in 3D and have to say even though nothing popped out at you from the screen, the 3D added a lot of depth instead.

boy my phone is taking forever to load tonight..anyways...

Trying to get to this page i picked up a post on the clip from the hobbit movie.

The hobbit movie i am quite confident that peter jackson will do a wonderful job even at the higher FPS i beleive it was 48...

I have watched every video blog he has done and they are compensating for the possable faws we will see.

In avatar which i love the blue ray version i could pick up what was fiber optics and what was not. Alot of the special lighting was black light. I was not very impressed with the texturs used for the animals to me they were to shinny and to close to the same coloring. Now the flying things i did enjoy those texturs and made perfect sence to me.

If peter jackson doesnt compensate we will see alot of flaws but i have the utmost confidence that he will do a very good job of it.

The alien movies back in the day blood and gore didnt bother like it does now but will have to agree that alien 1 was a classic. I would like to have the movies even if i dont watch them but once a year.

I like mostly sci fi stuff and fantacy movies.

I saw Angry Red Planet on free OnDemand a couple weeks ago and Prometheus last Saturday. I hate realistic horror but I am OK with SciFi and Fantasy Horror.

A thought. The most effective horror film I've seen is 2001, a Space Odyssey. The monster is not HAL, but the people who gave him the conflicting instructions which drove him to decide that humans should not be allowed to be on board.

I wouldn't call 2001 a horror film. Not even close.

That is because you haven't worked with a lot of big computers. If HAL had been working correctly, it would have shut down on receiving the second set of instructions. Computers that "disobey" are a real horror.

First rule of computing:

I will do what you say.

Corollary:

If what you say is contradictory, I will halt.

a space odyssey was a bit frightning when one by one HAL killed each crew member.

It was a result of conflicting instructions.

Reminds me of another movie where the house was compleatly controlled by a computer it eaither killed the ocupents or would have but i cant remember the name.

Its frighting to think that something like this in this day and age could one day be possable.

I think what people find horrifying depends more on their background than anything else. A lot of people said Prometheus was a terrifying movie. I thought it was stupid.
