I can choose the specs from Pollywell. In fact, I am buying mostly top of the line parts for it... they are as follows:

    Athalon X2 4400
    1gb DDr Pc3200 RAM
    WD SATA 250gb Hard Disk
    GeForce 6800gt PCI-E

Comes out to about 1,800 from them, and then a $320 19 LCD monitor.

Pretty good deal for a company. MUCH better than the Alienware Deal (similar system would be close to $3,000)!

do not get the X2, get an FX-57,i have heard that the FX-57s run games better than the X2, the FX-57 is the fastest athlon 64 currently made, or if you wait you can get a socket M2 athlon 64 with DDR2.

I indeed would rather have an FX-57, if it weren't for the fact that it is about $500 more. 41.gif

Also, the Pollywell computer I am looking at was on the November's Top Desktop PC's article from PCworld.com, so I doubt they are a shotty company.

Just to show you guys what I am doing right now, and why it is taking me so long, here is a regional shot.

    p18yq.jpg

As you can see, I am currently laying down roads and zones for 3/4 of a large city tile, just because it is so laggy. It seems like every time I start a new region, I always end up with one city that is super laggy for some reason, to the point that I am never able to finish that city tile, and the problem eventually makes me quit and move on to a new region.

This is that sort of city, and with a population of only 40,000, I am waiting upwards of 8 minutes just to open the traffic toolbar.

I am going to have to build everything all in one shot, so I am having to do an enormous ammount of already slow work, and try and guess what demands will be and where jobs will be needed.

Never fear though, I am making progress, and I should start running the Simulator before the end of next week (hopefully before Wednesday.)

    Thanks for the comment ChicAgo!

Oh yah, almost forgot to mention... Sorry the regional is sort of ugly! I still have never gotten around to cleaning up that area behind downtown... that will be my next project I guess.

Not ugly at all, the only thing I'd say thats there is a couple of Sun Bank buildings by NDEX that repeat themselves?

Thanks for the comments guys, Lol no a laptop isn't the ideal SC4 machine, but if it is relatively new, it is almost definately better than mine (Most laptops now even have at least 512mb of RAM, my desktop has half that)

Anyway, I would like to announce that this journal is somewhat on hold untill Christmas (When I will get a new computer). There may be a few updates between now and then, but updates will not come on a regular basis.

Looking good, my only suggestion is try and avoid making the region view pic look to clean cut, otherwise it's nicely set out.

Looks good MayorTim, and what Chicago333 said about the SunBanks... that can get a bit unrealistic at times. I would suggest demolishing them, but it does have a lot of jobs, so that helps I guess...

Good job nonetheless, its really becoming great!

Really nice and the dual highway system is pretty cool, this is a missing (a larger highway) on SC4, if the NAM developers could make it wide and oneway highways, it would be awesome as it would look more realistic.

    keep on going man.
