Looking really good, Choz.  One thing I can say about it is 'Thank God it's only a bridge and not a regular highway.4.gif  I'd probably spend our remaining 4 1/2 months trying to get it into the game and it would bring everyone's computer to a crawl.  The deatils are incredible.

Look forward to seeing your email.  I can't promise that it will get done tonight (it IS Apprentice finale night, after all), but I should have it in sometime this weekend.

    Red,

Don't worry about not getting it done right away. After all, I had said that you would have it on Mon. right 15.gif. My week hasn't exactly been calm. I have had to shift my priorities to school for the past few days, but such is life.

All I have to do is render the pieces. I thought I would have that done last night, but my computer decided to run INCREDIBLY slow once I applied the slice modifiers. It literally took me 4 hours just to slice it up. By the time I was done with that, I could see the sun coming up. I had class at 11, so I took a nap 2.gif. Anyway, as soon as I post this, I will be on my way home to get these ready for you.

Since this doesn't have any flambouyant suspension cables or towers, I decided to get fancy with the decor. I like the final product, and I'm glad yall like it.

Are you a professional?!  Those bridges are gorgeous, and I think they go with the whole Mars theme extremely well.

Eq - thanks for the comment.
You may be surprised to know, that I have never worked with any 3D rendering program, until I got the BAT. I started using the BAT around the 1st of March. I pick things up pretty quickly, as you can tell. I'm not a professional, but I wouldn't mind being one 2.gif. I have an imagination that rivals Dr.Seuss, and I am a forward thinking person. I just sit down, and start creating what I think looks good, and add details and such as they come to me.

    Red -

I just sent you the bridge files. I have found problems with four of them.

    LB-Lt.End-A.01
    LB-Rt.End-A.20
    LB-Arch-C.07
    LB-Lt.Sup.-B.06
(when you get your e-mail, you will know what these file names mean)

The problems with A.01 and A.20, are that they only appear in certain zooms. The LOD's are just fine with these, so check em out, and see if you have probs. with them. Here is a pick:

    /idealbb/files/untitled149.jpg

C.07 and B.06, I am going to have to resend you. For some reason the LOD's on these two pieces are about 8 times too long. Here is a pic:

    /idealbb/files/untitled150.jpg

I will toy with these after I get back from work. If you have any suggestions, let me know and I will try them.

I look forward to getting these once I get home.  I'm not sure about the first problem.  It is possible that it's just a problem between the Plug-in Manager and Lot Editor.  Have you taken a look at the files in the Reader?

The second problem may also only be a problem in the LE and not in the game.  Judging by some of the other pieces that I've seen from you, it's possible that your UVW Maps are just too big.  Take a look at the UVW Map modifier and compare it with the properties of the object you are clicked on.  Here's a pic of what I mean:
    /idealbb/files/UVWMap.jpg

Just do what you can to get the two as close as possible.  I know that you can't change the height of the map, but fixing the Length and Width has helped on some of my models.

Anyway, I'll post pics as soon as I can on these.  If I'm not making myself clear, let me know.

    hmmmm, that's interesting.

I honestly don't think that it is the UVW's  that are causing this. I have rendered some other objects, in which the UVW's were much larger than anything I have given you. When I get these objects into the LE, they show up with the correct dimensions.

I think what happened on the two with the LOD streching, is that after I cloned and renamed the complex objects to LOD 3-5, I didn't go and delete the other LOD's that were already present. I did this on every piece but these two apparently. I don't think that this problem will take too long to chase down. It is most likely just a matter of redoing those two files' LOD's and the re-rendering. I will also double check and make sure that I have ungrouped EVERYTHING in the scene, just in case that may be the problem.

The other problem, where they only appear in certain zooms, I will have to check on. I didn't actually put those two pieces into the game. I hope you are right, and that they just aren't showing up properly in the LE, but they will in the game. When I get back to my comp. I will check for that as well. If that doesn't work, I will just redo those pieces like I will the other two, and re-render. It may just be a case of a bad render. (It is Gmax after all 38.gif 2.gif )

OK everyone, sorry I have been away, I had real life to worry about.

Well I am back now and am able to resume working.

And here is a little gift for the mod.

The all new SimMars Highway intersection:

    Behold

    /idealbb/files/Render

    /idealbb/files/Wireframe

None of the ramps interfere with the main decks, and there is more than enough clearance between each leve.

    Hayly where are you ???????
(I told you I would have this done in a month, but I ran into finals, sorry I lied. Better late than never right? )

    Chozo, that is REALLY COOL!!

I think it a great improvement over the ugly and space-wasting cloverleafs that the game originally provides, which sadly enough do the job.

Do you have any plans for the T-Intersections? I am sorry if I missed this, because I was only recently made part of the design team, and have been out of the loop for a while.

EDIT: Hey you have a PopSci subscription too?!? That makes two of us! 4.gif

It looks great 9.gif! Are you going to re-texture the roadways though? I thought you had that bluish magnetic track type texture you've been using for the highways. It doesn't matter to me though.
