anyone know how to get rio janiero map, i found it in my paks folder?

About the .lua files, from personal experience, there's another game (not gonna tell what it is) that uses alot of .lua files. It would be easy for those people to mod the .lua files.

There are no moderators on here for CXL, so just go for it. At least I think no mods here support CXL...

Monte Cristo is dead... Go for it.

The new company's going do not much more than a "please stop," so go for it!

i think the CXL platform is based off of some old things from City Life, you could try to mod it by somoe of the old features (or try to add at least custom buildings)

I have already mentioned City Life but no one will listen to us, unfortunately.

As guystupois says, just do it. If Cities XL is to live on, it'll be through modding and not through any company. Really, can they sue you for making what was a half finished game more complete? Pfft, they don't even have the money to think of suing never mind doing it. I'm hoping you or someone soon will open this game up for all of us. Quite simply, what's sitting in the box is not playable/enjoyable.

    the idea seems to have a good success...

    Jeremy12 is setting up a place where you'll find downloads, tools and tutorials (probably we'll post something also to STEX and Omnibus).

    We're near the release of the mod, I'm just deciding how you'll download it (only one package or one mod and some dependencies - easier for me, so I don't have to give credits to lots of people for parts of the mod)

    @GlobexCo, thanks for the screenshots. Those trains look awesome. The track-texture is just awful, it's stupid. I suppose that the switches are separate puzzle-pieces. Just like the roundabout.

    I´m working "add\mod personal blueprint project"

    I change "trade.master" for define only "ldm30stmaryaxe" blueprint

    -phase1: skilledworkers: 5

    -phase2: skilledworkers: 5

                      heavy Industry:5

    -phaes3: skilledworkers: 5

                      electrity:5

    (for a rapid construction)

    blueprint id: "ldm30stamaryaxe" --> "maryaxeblueprint"

    I change the 4 files .class:

      file folder:

          "data\desing\buildings\market\"  -->  "data\design\buildings\blueprint\" 

      file name:

           b_mkt_ldm30stamaryaxe(_c1_t3;_c2_t3;_c3_t3;_t3).class for b_ldm_maryaxeblueprint(_c1_t3;_c2_t3;_c3_t3;_t3).class

      file params:

           f. e.:

          BudgetAgent:

                         - Blueprint: maryaxeblueprint

                         - BlueprintFileNextStep:    Data/Design/Buildings/Blueprint/b_ldm_maryaxeblueprint_t3.class

    I change 3 files .dds(data\interface\ddstexture\bluepirnts):

      file name:

         "banner_ldm30stmaryaxe_m.dds" --> "banner_maryaxeblueprint_m.dds" 

         "ldm30stmaryaxe_m.dds"  --> "maryaxeblueprint_m.dds"

         "ldm30stmaryaxe_w.dds"  --> "maryaxeblueprint_w.dds"

    The blueprint construct on no problem with personal params.

    I found a problem in "main menu\blueprint" window, the project "layer" doesn´t show the image and progress detail.

    (I´m workin on it, but i don´t know how i resolve yet.)

    It seem not to affect the construction phases and final build functions.

    Here there a .rar with the files i change unpack(add or replace files to "mod_rootv08_843.patch")

    Ok, decided to add a new feaature to the unlocker:

    now it's possible to build each stage of blueprints, so you can use all the models and create beautiful and realistic effect for your city (and city journal!):

    Menus now are a bit busy, it's not very comfortable searching a building in a menu with 221 (wrong they're around 100, since I counted also landmarks in the previous number) models inside... but the result is very cool!

    (at the moment this feature is available only for the Taj Majal... but I want to mod all the blueprints, and so you'll have to wait a little more - unless I find someone who can help me in this work...)

    Personally I prefer the way I used to unlock them - it's easier in-game and for me...

    I've removed the tags from the class files that the building uses to say "hey, I'm a megastructure and you need a blueprint if you want to use me!"... They're treated as landmarks in-game, but they're still in the blueprint menu.

    Then I used a command (made by MC) that unlocks special buildings...

    (easier for me because I just have to delete some lines from the class file and the blueprint is ready)

    I'll explain you thi feature with an example:

    Taj Majal has 3 stages (= 3 models).

    Before adding this feature in the menu you could find (and you could buld) only the final stage.

    Now you'll find in the blueprint menu all the 3 stages (and you can build them as separate buildings).

    Anyway, some thumb is missing (you'll find a white square) and the name of the building doesn't help you a lot in choosing the right stage you want to build (an issue I'll solve in an update for the mod).

    Not to get picky but maybe you could release two versions, one with just complete buildings and one with the stages. Just an idea, I'd love to have this either way, but that way people could choose to have a little less clutter in their menus if they aren't too concerned about the stages.

    (the cluttered menus of modded SC4 are a peeve of mine and the CXL menu system is even more clunky imo).

    It's not difficult... I've just got to delete modded files for stages from the folder and let there only the final stages...

    Hello, everyone,

    GlobexCo has let me know about this.  You're right.  I have no idea of the legality of this and the implications for Simtropolis, so I'm very glad he did.  I will have to run this by Dirk and the admins.  I'm going to have to ask you to wait for word on this.  I know it is very exciting, and will be hard to do so.  We all enjoy this community as well, and would hate to cause something we hadn't realized.  So I just think it wise for the time being.  I will get back to you the minute it is decided.  I will leave the thread open, but please hold your thoughts.  If posts are made before I get back to you, I will have to close it.
