Probably the one in the NAM Discussion thread. Yes, a fix is being tested, along with a few other bugs. Will be released when all is ready.

So.. the NAM is very buggy. When will the update gonna be released?

And also, should do testing before release. The new modified FAR and etc modifications were not TESTED.

NAM may 2010 was a rushed release, because people were saying NAM is dead.

Now look. Crash to desktop. That's for the rushing. If you do a new feature/modification at least it should be tested before release.

Don't get me wrong, I love NAM.

The fix will be posted as soon as the NAM Team has a chance to do so. Contrary to popular belief, we are not a machine that is able to run 24/7 for modding and testing, but regular humans who also have a real life. The May 2010 release has been tested for several weeks, and countless bugs have been found and corrected before the release. However, considering the sheer size of the NAM and its associated mods (RHW, NWM, SAM etc.), it's not possible to find all bugs - some are discovered months or even years later because they only occur under rare circumstances.

I just had this occur to me. But I think it was good since I'm not happy with the transport network I've been making 4.gif

I love the NAM, but hardly ever post here. I think you guys are awesome! You are pretty much making a new game 4.gif

Considering all the moving parts in the NAM I'm extremely surprised we haven't run into more of these type of problems in the past.

Translated into English: The NAM is the major SC4 accomplishment and the NAM Team is a set of majorly talented and industrious people.

Before I knew about NAM's existence my cities didn't move and grow like they do now. Thanks to all who have been involved in the development of the NAM. Looking forward to those fixes. I have many areas of my region that need some working on before I need to plop ferry terminals anyways.  48.gif

Thanks again NAM Team!! You are all awesome! Keep up the great work! 18.gif

Hi, I'm also having this problem which causes some difficulty since my region contains a lot of water. I appriciate all hard work the NAM team put into the NAM and I hope you will find a solution to this soon.

As a tip for you who have this problem: I'm using PEG's wonderful ferry landings instead (even where I don't want to). They only have one road going into the lot which works fine.

I too recently discovered this issue.

Can we expect a patch to NAM or will this simply be a "how to" instruction with a full fix not coming until the next NAM?

Are there any NAM features that I should avoid using in expectation of deactivating them to fix the ferry bug? New NAM features I can live without...a vast ferry system, I cannot.

The next NAM release is pretty much going to be a "fix" release.  Unfortunately, the "trigger" for the ferry CTD is in the NAM Controller file, which is basically the file that makes the NAM work, and there's pretty much no way to avoid it.

If you're really desperate to place car ferries right now, pull the Controller out of your NAM folder (NetworkAddonMod_Controller_RIGHT_HAND_VERSION.dat), go in game and build your ferries, exit back out and put the Controller back in so you can use the NAM again.  Moving just the Controller out will ensure that your pre-existing NAM items will remain in place while you're building the ferries.

Well, it seems ferry's are not really modded. Cant the ferries just be left alone?

I play SC4 and I've read these topics for sometime but never posted.

You guys are great doing this.

When is update available?

The ferries weren't changed. As Alex explained previously, the issue arose because of the way the FAR Auto-Draw feature interacted with the way the ferries are deigned to function. And as with all things NAM, the fix will be released when it's ready.

Yep, I just realized that the NAM has been causing my recent game crashes. That sucks that the ferries would cause such a problem, I don't generally use them for general purposes but not being able to at all has really crippled game play more than I thought it would. I hope that you guys can come up with a solution soon!

I had place the first ferry station in the north direction. When I placed the second station in the north or east direction the game would crash; however, when I reloaded the game and placed the second ferry station in either the south or west direction the game worked fine. I don't know it this helps any but it seemed to work. I don't know how the game will react with more then one set of ferry stations though. I guess just save your game before you place any ferry stations.

Holy cats!  I never suspected the NAM.  I was looking in the wrong place and now I know why I couldn't find it.  I am working on the game under Linux/wine, and thought the problem was with wine.  I am glad to find it is not.

There have been "versions of the day" lately with wine, culminating in the final release of wine 1.2 a couple of days ago.  I have the wine crew, including me, whirling around on this.  I'll stop the dervishes, now.

Do we have a feel for the date of the fix release?

I'm sorry, but this fix does not work for me. I tried renaming as well as replacing the NAM Controller File but it does still crash when I try to place my ferry piece. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Thanks for working on the fix, you're great, guys (and girls, if there are any) !

Thank you guys I will Pull out (NetworkAddonMod_Controller_RIGHT_HAND_VERSION.dat) for now I will wait on your fix for the NAM Controller. Keep up the good work NAM Team.

Edit: After Removing (NetworkAddonMod_Controller_RIGHT_HAND_VERSION.dat),  I had no problems Placeing my Ferrys. Thanks again for the help.

Oh I found the problem for the fix not working with me: I didn't pull the controller file out of the Plugin folder. Now everything's fine.

Bump!

Heh heh, I just started a region which would intensively use ferries, but found mine were crashing no matter what I did. I'm glad it's such an easy kludge to work, instead of a corrupted Maxis file or something...

Thanks for all the work you NAM crew have put into this major extension to our beloved SimCity. You really revitalized my gameplay. Take your time on the fix.

NAM Version 29 has been released as of just a few moments ago over at SC4D's LEX (Windows | MacOS), and fixes the Car Ferry CTD issue, among other things.  It will be up on the STEX in a little bit--there will be an announcement thread here when its up.

Edit: It now is.  Check here for more details. 4.gif

Yes, finally. Thank you. Not to sound ungrateful, but it's about time. I know you guys did a lot more than just fix this one glitch, and I really do appreciate it. Thanks again and a million more times.
