So, we're a couple weeks into the season already and no one has started a thread yet. Time to fix that!

The standings can be checked live anytime here. Live scoreboard is here.

Now, PLAY BALL!

YAY!!!

I got home today and I saw the Brewers score, and I was like: "That has to be a Typo!"

20-0 win over the Pirates!

Brauny's on pace to hit 54HR's and 216RBI's I believe! Wouldn't that be nice, but I doubt that will happen!

It's too early to start talking numbers about what anyone is "on pace" to do.

For one thing, bear in mind that the record for RBI in a season is only 191 (Hack Wilson), and that's an 80 year old record. Nobody is getting 216 of them this year.

Just like the Mets' Mike Pelfrey is on pace for 34 wins and 11 saves at the moment 3.gif

Well, sweeping Pittsburgh isn't all that hard to do...

You'll be pleased to know that by the end of the game yesterday, the fans in Pittsburgh were actually cheering for the Brewers to get to 20. I feel that my beloved Buccos have stolen my money.

I was going to say that the Brewers don't have the pitching to compete, but then again, does anybody in the NL? Sure, the Phillies got Doc Halladay, but after that, who do they have? They need Cole Hamels to step up his game back to where it used to be. Then they have to hope Romero can pitch like he did at the beginning of last season.

In the AL you have to worry about the Yankees, with Sabathia and Burnett [overrated btw]. Pettitte is a very strong game 3 starter even if he's not who he used to be [when one stops taking steroids, they tend to decline 9.gif]. If the Red Sox get their act together, Beckett, Lester, Lackey is easily the most formidable playoff rotation once again assuming they get their act together and pitch like they do every year. Nobody in the NL can put together three pitchers like these two can.

Having said that, the NL should be an easy conquest for the Philly's. I think there are a lot of teams with the right peices in place for future seasons, but nobody other than the phillies has all the right pieces right now in that league. The Giants should be really potent in the future though if they can get one or two more BATs. [

Then why didn't you start it?

As for your Braves, they aren't even playing .500 ball at the moment.

Of course, it could be worse: you could be an Orioles fan. 2-15. Ouch.

Buccos took a 10-3 loss in Houston today. I don't know why every year I get my hopes up only to have them crushed. I suppose it's because that's what being a fan is... backing your team no matter what.

What a cheap win for the Mets 6 innings. They should have completed the game today.

Darnell McDonald is a nice "out of nowhere" prospect. Unfortunately those hard workers in the minors who take years to get to the big leagues and only get a few games for a call up never stay. They always get pushed to the bottom of the depth charts by free agents, trades, or big name prospects. O well, it's nice to get a guy his moment. Hopefully Francona can find him a spot, hitting .450 for a week is definetely worth playing time if we are giving playing time to David Ortiz, he of the sub-100 average.

Yankees vs Orioles Tuesday: dramatic 5-4 loss (almost staged a comeback in the 9th!)

Yankees vs Orioles Wednesday: effortless 8-3 win

Remember, the Orioles are 4-17. The Yanks losing to them was a bit of an embarassment. The next game went more like you'd have expected. We'll have to see how tonight's game goes. Now if only Tmapa Bay would start losing already....

In other news, my uncle suddenly found himself with a spare ticket to this Sunday's Mets-Phillies game in Philadelphia since something came up and the person he intended to go with can't make it. So, guess who's going instead.

    Road trip! 10.gif

Larks, you can tell when he stopped taking just by looking at his numbers/injury history. 2008 if I'm right..

Mets-Phillies? I wouldn't be able to cheer for either of those teams! The Pirates have somewhat redeemed themselves by taking the last 2 games in Milwuakee... somewhat. Pirates @ Dodgers tonight. Go Bucs!

And I'm not able either, but I actually prefer it that way. When you're rooting for someone things get tense. When you don't have a horse in the race, you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the game.

The Twins are doing pretty good, despite their 2 game losing skid. I guess they need to come back home to Minneapolis

Well the Mets are the lesser evil, might as well root for them now before they succumb to injuries.

Naw, if I had to pick I'd probably lean towards Philly... but I'm not picking. So a good friend of mine went to the game in LA last night... and we have a mutual friend who is a producer for Fox Sports Net (Pittsburgh). He was going to put him on tv provided he made an FSN sign of some kind, which he did. The Nazis at Dodger Stadium confiscated his sign claiming that "signs cause fights." Malarky.

Anyway, 3 in a row for the Bucs. Talk about hot and cold.

"Bucs" in this case is a nickname for the Pittsburgh Pirates. 49.gif

It has nothing to do with the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks. Or the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 2.gif

Wow Ryan Howard got old fast. He's 30!

They probably should have called him up sooner than 26.
