July 29

 

I woke today around 9 a.m.  I wanted to get a fairly early start on the day's activities.  I ate breakfast, took a shower, got some comfortable clothes on.  I sat down at my laptop and began to map out a plan for all the things I wanted to see today.  When I finished I grabbed my camera and headed down to the rental car.  I decided I was going see the city in sections.  One section of the city one day, another section the next day and so on.  Today I would be seeing basicly the area I would have started out with if I would have arrived here by plane when I was supposed to.  The area I am exploring today is the Crystal Point district.  It consists mostly of hotels and tourist attractions.  The Marinaldo Municipal airport and cruise ship terminals are also located here. 

 

 

Just as I was about to shut off the TV and leave my hotel room I saw a breaking news report.

 

 

Apparently A drunken sailboat captain sailed right into a fishing boat doing some fishing.  The sail boat ran right through the stern and sailed off taking on water itself.  The news chopper was out doing the traffic and flew over the water to get a shot of some fishing boats when it caught the whole thing happen.

 

Here is a picture of the travel plans I made for the day and everywhere I was going to go.  It closley corresponds with the following series of pictures.

I decided to go into the art museum here is a pamphlet I picked up there.  The main attraction was a beautiful, huge emerald called The Root of Melanosia or commonly called the Melanosia Emerald.

 

Then I drove to the Fisherman's Memorial and took a look at that.  Has a list of all the fisherman's names that died at sea and the names of the lost vessels as well.

 

I stopped by the fishing docks and looked around and picked up this pamphlet, would be fun to go on a fishing trip if I had time.

Then I stopped by a viewpoint that looks out toward the Goyus Island resort and the ocean.  Near the view point is the rental dock for the Island resort.  There you can rent a small boat and sail or kayak over to the small private island.

Then I drove down to the point and took a look at one of Marinaldo's most prominent landmarks.  It is a beautiful white spire, at the base it reads:  The Ocean Sail- Legs of the ocean.

 

After viewing the tower I decided to eat lunch at a seafood restaurant next to the tower.  The smells coming from the restaurant were making me very hungry, besides it was about noon anyway!  Here is a picture of the restaurant, I ate on the deck overlooking the ocean.  Absolutley wonderful experience eating seafood overlooking the ocean!!

 

 

I really enjoyed my lunch overlooking the ocean.  I am writing this page of the journal as I sit at my table.  So far it has been a very good day.  I have seen alot of fun things!  I am having a hard time leaving my table to continue my sightseeing, I am just enjoying sitting here relaxing with my full stomach looking out at the ocean, listening to the waves beat upon the rocky shore below.

Well, I finally dragged myself away from the table at the seafood restaurant and continued on my tour of Crystal Point.  Before I left the table I did a little more planning for the rest of my stay in Marinaldo.  I mapped out the different things I wanted to see and do according to the different city districts.

A little further north of the cruise terminals is docked the MNS Queen Victoria.  She was one of the first liners to travel here.  She carried many immigrants from Europe and eventually in 1979 she went out of service and was docked in the U.K. as a museum until 1995 when she was brought here and docked as a museum.

I then drove west toward the Marinaldo Country Club.  There are many higher wealth condos surrounding the golf course.

I like the little additions like the ads for the bungalow rentals and cruise ships, all adds to the whole tour feel. I really feel like I'm on vacation somewhere in the tropics, so lifelike do some of those pictures look. That picture of the port at twilight, with the rocks in the water... that's just really neat.

hm, sorry i have not seen much of this journal, sirgeoj2...and looking at it, you are doing a rather spectacular job. there are some pictures on page one, in which the viewer is looking through an aiplane window and we can even see the inconsistences in the glass - spectacular. keep up the great work.

UPDATE 13

July 30

 

I woke up the next morning around 10 am, slept in longer than I wanted to again.  I quickly got my luggage together and went downstairs to check out.  I will be staying over on the other side of town tonight.  I drove North up toward the University district, I wanted to see the famed Saint George University.  Pulling up to the university I could immediately sense the history here.  Apparently this used to be a Catholic church and over a century later was converted to a university.  The architecture was beautiful and the grounds were really well kept.  I decided to walk inside the chapel, because that is what caught my eye the most.  Inside was some of the most beautiful and interesting artwork I have ever seen.  Unfortunatley they don't allow photography inside.  Not only were there religious frescos alont the walls and dome, but there were other mystical looking pieces of art that I could not identify.  I stayed in that chapel for a good hour stareing at the artwork, mesmerized. 

    After leaving the university I drove through the center city district, not much to see here, just residences and businesses.  After my drive through the center city district I headed over to the Malano district to a shopping mall and ate dinner.  I wanted to see the famous clubs of Marinaldo's Malano district but I wanted to be there closer to 9 at night when the activity really picks up so I killed some time at a movie theatre and watched a movie I had been wanting to see.  When I got out it was around 8:30, so I decided it was close enough and headed over to the clubs. 

    These exclusive clubs are just that, exclusive.  Driving along the street it was like I was transported to a different world.  Very different atmosphere.  I decided to go in one of the clubs, the famous Blue Atom.  After forking out a fortune I went inside to find a lavish, brilliantly lit, bar.  I had a drink and decided to go over to an elevator door with a large bouncer standing in front of it.  He told me that only prefered customers are allowed up top.  I guess I wouldn't be seeing the view inside and out from up there, I wondered how much more money I would have to spend to be a prefered customer!  I ended up having a few more drinks, some fascinating conversations with a group of three women about life after death which led into life after divorce, which led to life after fourth divorces which led me closer and closer to the door.  I checked into the exclusive (everything being exclusive here pretty much) Omni Malano Hotel.  I was suprised I was able to hold as much liquor as I did seeing as how I don't drink very often.  I went up to my room around 1 a.m.  I wanted to get an early start for my trip downtown so I set my alarm for 8 a.m.  I doubted if I was going to really get up at that time though.  As soon as my head hit the pillow I remembered somthing that Melinda said to my back in Agural Valley.  A man by the name of Andronea was waiting to see me in a city called Sapphadim.  He said that I would see something......something I had never seen before on the 31st.  That was tommorow.  I lay awake for a little while wondering what that could be.  I finally dismissed it just so I could get some sleep, but deep down inside, something told me I WAS going to see something.

Wow!! It's been a while since I last dropped in, and look what happened! Some GREAT updates again, Sirgeoj2, this keeps getting better and better. Somewhere you asked if this cj was easy to pass by, and if it blended well with the other cj's; do you mean that you're concerned that it isn't goog enough maybe? Well, relax, because this is one of the best cj's on Simtrop in everything: the story, the city-layouts, the incredible amount of detail, and the excellent photoshopping! I would say: Trixiematerial! I'm going to ask you for some tips on photoshop soon, I feel I could need that;

Sorry I hadn't commented that much, but I'm extremely busy at the moment; The coming days/weeks I'll be moving to a new place, I have to work a lot to earn enough money, Pax Americana just started, and... college starts again. Anyways, you have my full support on this cj, keep it up!!
