Monthly Income

I've notice that in all my cities that the monthly income has sky rocketed to an obsurd amount compared to expenses. One small city of about 7,000 people was bringing in almost $40,000 a month with less than $2,000 in expenses. My taxes are set to normal. The only thing I've done was add some mods, including one that sets the starting money to $100,000,000 when you start a new city, just so I could build without worrying about spending. But I don't remember anything about gaining more from taxes too. Anybody else have any experience with this happening?

I don't think I've ever experienced that situation. My biggest city of 250,000 or so makes $3000-$5000 a month depending on what I'm doing with it, and given how slowly I develop things I basically have infinite money there--around $6 million right now. Possibly you are shorting the city on stuff like parks, education, healthcare, law enforcement? You know how to check on those conditions, right?

The game is set up that way so you can develop a relatively low-level city and make money to grow and develop the city... otherwise you will always be wanting for money... assuming you aren't using any cheats of course

I guess these are cheated.

Several places on the STEX, you can download "money wells". These are usually 1x1 tile parks, which do nothing but bring in large monthly sums of cash.

I experience the exact same thing with a similar (if not the same) mod. My taxes seem to sky-rocket, but I don't change any of the values. My guess is the mod was not created properly, and as a result this happens.

I've seen that if u use the RCI demand mod it will actually cause more money to be collected.

i have schools and hospitals and stuff in my cities. i actually have more than i normally would, which would typically put me in debt, but now i am getting like $40,000 a month from taxes in a city of like 7,000 people with taxes at like 7%. this has to be from the mod to get start up money, but i dont know why its doing it. i dont have a money well or anything like that.

This is why I would never use money mods.. makes the game unrealistic

Try to locate and delete any money cheat mods. If this is not the case, it can be the result of an improperly modded custom content lot/building (RCI type). Tax collected is proportional to the Building Value property; if this is set to an exceptionally high value, the building will generate exceptionally high taxes too. It may be a bit hard to locate such a building:

    1. First backup your city (better copy the whole region folder somewhere else).

    2. Bulldoze half of your city (reconnect power lines if needed, so that you don;t get blackouts).

    3. If income has been reduced to normal levels, this means that the building was in the part you bulldozed. Exit to region (without saving), reload your city, and try bulldozing the... half of this half.

    4. If income wasn't reduced to normal levels try the other half.

    5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you locate the building.

    6. Bulldoze the lot, save and exit.

    7. Uninstall the lot, or mod it properly, and notify the author to provide a fix.

Pls let us know the results.

    Hope this helps.

How so?  one of the most realistic mods out there is the parking Lot Mod..   which is a 2x3 or 3x3 tile or parking..  whihc provides monthly income to the city..  which is totally realistic..   dont tell me you can park for free downtown whereever you live?  3.gif

I know of one industrial bat that gives an income of 14 or 16000, maybe you have that installed. I tried to find the name for you but couldn't. It's a cement storage/disrribution centre- hard to miss with 2 tall storage containers. If it is that, just bulldoze!

It is also possible you installed a money office and plobbed and forgot about it. The money office is very hard to spot in urban areas because it blends in with the buildings.

its most likely the mod. you should double check it but dont be surprised if it doesnt include the tax hike. it may even be a bug, although not an unplayable one either

It is definitely the installed mod... I know because it does the same thing to me and it's the only mod I have ever downloaded that has anything to do with money. I actually like it that way, so I never have to fret over money. I end up just setting all my taxes at like 0.1% I've had the game for so long I play it to make picturesque cities, not for the challenge anymore.
