C'mon... it's only a big rumor.

How can you say that EA is going to produce another SimCity only by viewing when they updated a domain.

I can`t confirm, but why EA registered a new domain of a "forgotten" game? However, there is the possibility of this being the name of an SC for social networks like Facebook. Nothing is certain yet.

Mark my words: SimCity World will just be another new-age SimCity clone designed to sap off Sims players, like Societies was.

~ COMING SOON! Exciting new projects! ~

Umm... there might be a possibility that they are just planning on release a new SimCity game... some day.

Until then, fansites of the old games will be popping up at various rates. Perhaps EA just decided to reserve the SimCity World domain, to possibly use it some day in the future. Perhaps SimCity World is one of many working titles for future games - that might not have been started yet.

Look at Nintendo, they have registered trademarks for "Pok

The domain name was registered way back in 2000 . . . 10 years ago, back in the SC3000 days.  It's been well-established for awhile now that EA owns quite a few other SimCity-related domain names as well, including simcity5.com, simcity6.com, etc. all the way up to simcity10.com.  They also own simcity4.com and currently use it as a redirect page to a website for The Sims.

That 2010 date you saw was probably simply when they renewed the domain name, which is usually an annual or bi-annual thing.  They renewed most of the ones I listed above in the summer of 2009 as well.  My guess is that they're simply trying to avoid cybersquatting, by reserving a few domain names that might be of use to them later.

The guy who reported this apparent "discovery" also showed a falsified "SC5" pic that's been floating around the internet since at least 2006.

As I recently remarked on a thread in the Cities XL board, we are simply not yet to the point at which a full-3D city-simulation experience with the depth of SC4 is possible.  EA undoubtedly realizes this as well--they've got some pretty shrewd people working there, including a number of the people who worked on SC4.

I am to disillusioned to even get interested.  My guess, some kind of smart phone app or social networking spam game.  At this point, I actually hope its nothing but EA keeping the name just in case.

What if they did make a Simcity 5. Hopefully it'd have multi core support and have the crashing problems fixed 4.gif)

I've noticed no one else has mentioned this, so I will. How can possibly expect to do another SimCity game where so much of the fan created items will likely not transfer, thus forcing a start over of all sorts of modding, thus making it's initial impact split between those that want all the goodies and those that can live without. I, personally, prefer the tons of lots, etc. that is not available on the initial release of SC4RH.

For a SC5 to do well right off the bat, they would need to include, basically, several DVD's worth of lots that have been created. (Major retail locations, Major fast food chains, Gas Stations, more fine tuned parking lots, smoother and more flowing roads, more customization of roads and highways, more variety of RCI & Farmland, etc.)

Yea I really doubt the fact another sim city will ever come out. City building games are going an entire different place.

Why would it matter to them? Companies try to make thinks incompatible on purpose, they generate more money that way.

This is a complete fallacy. I wish people would get use to the fact that EA isn't creating another game for this series. Now this is getting ridiculous. SC Societies is considered to be SC5 even though it isn't remotely close to being anything like the city building game. As faf as it being a possible social network on FB, there are several that already exist.
