    So, after about a 2-week hiatus, I am back with CJing; I have been busy with RL and also decided to take a break from SC4. But from now onwards, I will be updating this City Journal. For the update, we've seen the inner city areas at night, but have we seen the suburbs?

    (The first two are in Northridge, the last in Foresthaven)

    This shopping mall in Northridge is open 24/7(Not all it's shops, though) and is never empty

    night6.jpg

    A quaint little area of the city, with commuters driving home from their jobs in Boston:

    night7.jpg

    and finally, fast food joints and big box stores also never go silent, even late at night!

    night8.jpg

    Hope you enjoyed this update, and see you next time!

    So for today's update, this will be part 1 of a two-part series about the extension of Highway 11 from it's western terminus. The question is why? Answer: Because UC DOT wants to provide a better connection to the UC Naval Base at Tavarak, which is set to expand soon; previously, you had to take Chester Parkway to side streets to get there, but now the highway will be extended west, curve north, and then turn into an expressway, then terminate at a roundabout interchange outside the base. The Chester Parkway exit will be redone, and a new exit will be built at Lambert Road.

    hwy11extension-1.jpg

    For the first part of the update, we will focus on the reconstruction of the interchange(Note, mind the zones visible(Too lazy to reupload :P) and the completed exit with Chester Parkway, I forgot to take the photo before starting construction); here's a "Before" image of the exit:

    hwy22-4.jpg

    Intersection removed, prepping for overpass construction:

    hwy11extension-2.jpg

    Overpass construction complete, and RHW laid out for the next stage:

    hwy11extension-3.jpg

    The new westbound 11 ramps are built on the west side of the interchange. Based on that, you can kinda tell what the exit will look like when done....

    hwy11extension-4.jpg

    Now only the WB 11-Chester Parkway ramp has to be built:

    hwy11extension-5.jpg

    And that's finished!

    hwy11extension-6.jpg

    Tune in to the next update to see the final product of the interchange, as well as the rest of the extension!

    @Titanicbuff: Thanks!

    @Huston: Thanks!

    @Captain Hook: Thanks!

    @vinlabsc3k: Well I could, but if you're saying it so I can make the interchange a little more compacted, then no, because the ramps will still need the room anyway....

    @Invaderrjl123: Thanks!

    So first of all, my apologizes if you have been waiting impatiently for this update; i have been distracted by SimCity 2013 in the past few weeks, and haven't even played SC4 Until last night. But here's part 2 of the extension, next time I will present a panorama of the finished product!

    Next, we focus on constructing the Lambert Road exit, which will be a parclo. Note that the right of way has already been established:

    hwy11extension-7.jpg

    Pave over the dirt strips with asphalt

    hwy11extension-8.jpg

    ...and connect them up to the highway! Yay this part is finished!

    hwy11extension-9.jpg

    ...and now to the east, the highway curves from W-E to N-S as it prepares to enter it's final stage...The expressway!

    hwy11extension-10.jpg

    Come back next time to see a panorama of completed project!

    The previous post wasn't for compactness, infact they would the same size, but for realism!! ;)

    @Benedict: Thanks! And I have more to come!

    @vinlabsc3k: It probably won't be for another 2 updates because there is some other stuff I want to cover first....

    So if you're wondering why I haven't been updating, it's been RL and SimCity 2013, but I have several updates ready to post here in this CJ. For tonight's, we will take a look at the CapitalTrams system, which opened the other day(In RL, i have been working on it slowly since December of last year). So far, about 2/3 of the system is complete, and I hope once i get it down i'll make a map of the whole system with stations and route numbers/names...

    This is the Transit Center Station where all the lines come together and you can connect with UCCRL and Capital Bus Systems

    capitaltrams1.jpg

    At top, the tram-in-avenue dives below Highway 64, while at right, below the Beltway; in front of the National History Museum can be seen the Museum/Beltway stop

    capitaltrams2.jpg

    And the Stadium station by the Catcomm Sports Complex

    capitaltrams3.jpg

    Hope you enjoyed this update, and see you next time!

    Looks nice, but I may suggest you to use the LRM set by MandelSoft, that'll make your streetlights look 1000x better. :)

    Nice pics, but lol wit that convention center's lights still being on during the day :P And I second GMA, getting custom streetlighting would make a whole world of a difference :)

    Good updates Nathan!! :thumb:

    I can't wait for the completed update of "CTL"* project.

    A little error:

    Near the Convention Center Station you used the Tram-in-Road Curve with one Road junction instead of Tram-in-Road bending Road. ;)

    @Geometrymath Algebra: I'll look into acquiring that download.

    @Huston: Same as above...

    @wwetom1: Thanks!

    @Schulmanator: Thanks!

    @vinlabsc3k:  Hmmm I think it should be the right piece, i'll have to check it to make sure. And actually, most of the tram lines are finished, just the ones shown on the map that haven't been contructed are still to come....

    I must say that I am so sorry for not updating in a while, the reason being RL and SimCity 2013 have been distracting me from SC4 for a long time. So for today's update, we'll take a look at some scenes from rural Mountain Island, first off being the Hwy 324 Exit 4, Bullard Village/Flynn Road

    mountainisland1.jpg

    Nearby in the village of Figarden, a simple street seperates residential areas and farmland...

    mountainisland2.jpg

    And in Morgan Valley, 2 UCCRL trains pass over the Fairview Road underpass on their way to their respective destinations:

    mountainisland3.jpg

    BONUS: I tried doing a little photoshopping of a light rail station to match what it could look like on Capital District's system(Note, I am still not good at getting perspective correct, but you can get the point). If someone can guess which station on which RL Light-rail line this was taken on, you might get a free prize :)

    capitaltramstation.jpg

    I hope you enjoyed this update, and see you next time!

    @scott1964: Thanks!

    @Geometry: Yeah I'm aware but I haven't upgraded many sections and in most cases I still use the plopable ones...

    @blackdolphin: As of now, the region population is about 1.43 Million(I'll have to check-not sure)

    For tonight's update, we'll take a look at some pictures from the Westport Underground, and yes I know they are all above-ground, but the London Underground has a lot of ground and el-rail sections on it, so yeah.....

    (Reference Map for those who are curious) *Note it is old, and I intend to update it soon......

    At the Memorial Drive Station, notice the contrast between the brownstone apartments and the modern glass station:

    westportunderground-7.jpg

    A Line 5 train prepares to enter Downtown Westport, heading NB towards Westport

    westportunderground-8.jpg

    A Line 3 train crosses Curtoa Avenue after leaving the Thurgburn station; note that train speeds in this section are reduced due to the ground-level rail

    westportunderground-9.jpg

    and finally,  a Line 4 train heading to Saffard Bay(15 Miles away!) crosses the nation's longest and busiest highway west of Central Maydoria

    westportunderground-10.jpg

    and to cap off this update, a teaser for next time(Note that I haven't completed the project, this is just a small section)

    teaser6.jpg

    Hope you enjoyed this update, and see you next time!
