Has anyone noticed the massive influx of new members to the community! I think it has to do with Cities XL but I think the members have increased by 70, 000 in the past 6 months or so! Not only this but a lot of them are getting involved and posting a lot! In all me years here I have never seen so many new members so fast! Has anyone noticed this? what do you think about this?

I have noticed new people, which as Larks said is awesome! I do think Cities XL brought a lot though, since Simtropolis is the main English-speaking headquarters.

its why simlabs exists, its great to see so many new faces around, plus as we widen our population we increase our chances of collectively making more improvements to our beloved game.

I'd say this is quite remarkable for a 7-year old fansite that predominantly focuses on a game that is also 7 years old 3.gif

I'd say it's quite remarkable that I first "met" Cheese89 when he was 13 and he is now pushing 21.

I'm glad we have an influx of new people. Welcome to the community.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Well, the "New Members information" sections works as our Ellis Island but without public servants looking for louses.

Now seriously speaking, I think it's really remarkable that there are still so many people caught by such an "old" videogame; this would mean SC4 is still the best city-simulation game out there and that we are still far from seeing Simtropolis definately down.

I'm new to the forums also. I love playing SC4 and found a place where other people love it just as much as I do. And the custom content and details on some of your CJ's is simply amazing.

Plus, I like the little contests, and Olympics and pageants aspect of it. It really makes your city come to life

True, if a game is fun and enjoyable then people will play it regardless of how old it is for example i perfer Goldeneye for the N64 over the new Bond games.

I'm pretty sure I skipped that island when I joined up.31.gif

But the influx of new people do mean that old games still have fans. For example, despite having a XBox 360, I still would rather play a PS1 game.

I have noticed an air of freshness around here for a few months now, but 70 000 new members? That's quite a jump.

I really do like this. New members bring novel things to the site, plus new skills, concepts, and creativity. It is a complete positive development, and I do look forward to working with our new members (in fact, just yesterday a newer member contacted me about the Summit building in Franklin).

It seems like the more junk that the companies put out there masquerading as the next thing in city building, the stronger this site becomes.

It's pretty impressive indeed! What is also positive... I think CXL brought a couple "old" members back, who might otherwise have forgotten about this place.

How do you know a spy kids reference when I don't? Nevermind... 3.gif

To get sorta back on topic, am I still a newbie? Or can I be a non-newbie yet?

I think it's just great! You can never have too many people on this sight AND interested in SC 4. That greatly increases the chances of the game being sold and this site being here for years to come.

Of course, the beta keys giveaway last year really helped, too29.gif
