I've been wanting to do this for a while, and the holiday and Trixie season spurred me into action. I plan to do this every 7 days or so, so we'll see how that works for a New Year's resolution! I will disclose that my own CJs will be included, however I will not be manipulating any management of the scoring tables (or my city journalling) to promote them.

Ben's Top Ten +10 will be determined weekly using a scoring formula based on several factors pertaining to all the active forum CJs during the 7-day period in question, with some degree of influence from the previous 3 weeks' activity in each of those CJs. Each week the top ten CJs will be featured. I'm also tracking positions 11-20 - these will be noted as the +10 in numerical order.

PhatHead is my inspiration, however his system favors long-lived (and sometimes long dead!) CJs. Hopefully mine will showcase what's current in the forums.

And now, on with the show!!

Congratulations to the first number 1 -  N106's "A History of San Paso", which also just won a 2009 Trixie (highlighted by the orange star). There were some beautiful images to choose from, but my favorite comes from an update with a night setting.

Three CJs that were newly born during the week (as indicated by the light green stars) also made Ben's Top Ten, with thepokemaniac's "The Terra Nova Project" entering at number 2 - nice work.

Thanks to Korot for spotting my first error - oops! Feel free to point out any other mistakes, people.

Greetings "Ben",

First I only hope the best of luck with your top 10. Now my head's a little[ok a lot] phatter. I'm truly Honored that my list was your inspiration. I might have to add your list to my favorites to see how it goes. I think "This town" is big enough 4 these 2 lists lol.

I'll drop by now and then and drop my 2 centz. May you have a super great 2010.

I'll plan to still be watching your list a year from now.

I remember Jill Jacobs having a similar thing earlier this year, lets see if yours last longer.

A note though: N106's journal is spelt: "A history of San Paso. It could be important to properly spell the name of your number 1.

Regards,

Korot

You should give a reason for them being in your top 10. Great job though. I agree with a lot of those choices.

I must say, I love this idea. I had to stop mine because it takes A LOT of time to do. I'll definitely be following yours 4.gif

Good luck, and I hope to see my CJ up there soon!

Interesting idea... and interestingly enough I'm #3 both on your list and Phathead's lol.

I'll support this thread as long as you promise to not let this endeavor prevent you from continuing to update Ellis Valley! 4.gif

Hi, DCMetro34. Congratulations on having a CJ in the top ten last week.

Hi, PhatHead. Thanks for the encouragement. I definitely think there is room for both lists in the cj forums.

Hi, Korot. Thanks for stopping by and spotting my error  - you are more efficient than spellcheck!!

Hi, ironicepitome. Thanks for your compliment. I don't know that it is necessarily any easier than PhatHead's Hottest CJ's, just different.

Hi, hotChocolate. Thanks for stopping by. I added links to last week's top ten. This week's might have to wait a couple of days while I wait for reliable internet access. However, since the list is all about current updates and comments, the top ten should be in the first 1-3 pages of this forum.

Hi, Larks2242. Thanks for posting, I'll try and keep the list up to date.

Hi, ComputerGuy890100. Congratulations for having a top ten CJ.

Hi, Evillions. Nice to see you in the top ten also.

Hi, Greekman. Thanks, I plan on keeping it up as much as RL lets me.

Hi, tahill79. Thanks for posting. In the first post I explain that all the CJs that have updates or new comments in the week are entered into a formula - the CJs with the top ten scores are, well, the top ten.

Hi, Hester. I could tell you the secret formula, but then I'd have to kill you.

Hi, Hawkeye9. Congratulations on featuring in the top ten.

Hi, Jill Jacobs. Yeah, it does take a bit of time. I'll stay with it as long as I am able.

    Hi, jacqulina. Thanks!

Hi, Mayorm. Glad you like the concept. See my responses to Hester and tahill79 as to how the list works.

Hi, dfnva. Well done on making the list - roadgeekery is certainly popular here at simtrop. I'll try to keep both my own cj and this list running without sacrificing one for the other 2.gif

Whew, I didn't expect so many replies!

And now, Ben's Top Ten +10!

Our brand new number 1 is also the highest new entry for Avista with its amazing story (and beautifully photoshopped images) of flooding and city rebuilding - well done to Lacey14 for hitting number 1 and being this week's highest new entry!

My favorite image is from the flooding mosaic... floodwater, lightning, freeways and no-power zots - what's not to like?

Congratulations also to sEAhAwk fAn21 whose Dutch Columbia is the highest debuting new cj.

Ben's one to watch is The Iron Coast - I can't wait for Mighty Goose's steampunk story to start in earnest.

Only one CJ climbed up from last week's +10 - Schulmanator's Schulmania.
