See, now you're going to drive me crazy. My "lists" only add up to 62 team members (SHS list is out of date, I suspect... anyone?). And unless I miscounted, I've only updated/added 88 CMLs.....

I'm totally going to lose sleep over this. Thanks. 3.gif

Yes the SHS list is very out of date. The following people have become members since September 20 2009 (the last update of the SHS/MOTM thread in the ST Related board):

-un1

-astronelson

-Chptrk

-Xyloxadoria

-CWLGamer01

I think there is someone else but I dont remember who... 3.gif

Edit: No there wasn't someone else.

Nah, actually, I went back through and I saw what the deal was. First of all, I miscounted, I updated 92 CMLs, not 88... all 92, so far. The remaining three would then be the awards given to HKABT, NAM, and SHS... whose team accounts don't have their awards yet. So I'm not missing anything after all.

And as for the team disparity, the SHS list update solves that so guess what? I'm going to sleep now!

Congratulations everyone and thank you for the nominations. It was very interesting to read all the different trixies that people won, there were some great award ideas again this year (love pagenotfound's trixie!). And thank you to the staff and members who always make this such a great event every year.

Yes, that estimate was a bit over the top.   and that was when we were showing each medal, not a medal for each year with a number on it.

In the meantime, I've been looking how the santa hats fit, or don't fit, on the various avatars so I made a mosiac.  It is fairly random, in no particular order

with the exception of one name question on the NAM team, the team medals are now finished.

Would everyone check the CMLs, medals, and pop-ups to see if they are all correct?  With so many medals, a few might have rolled off the table into a corner.

Our feathered friend has managed to win EIGHT trixies this year. No one else has ever won more than six in a year.

A Trixie for "Most Useful Creation". Wow! 6.gif

You asked for a speech - but first I wish to say that the most important new SC4-Tool in 2009 would also deserve an award - for me it is null45's update of the FSHLib.dll library. A Microsoft update for all Windows OS (XP, Vista, 7) caused the old library to stop functioning such that it became impossible to import or export textures with SC4Tool,  FiSHMan or other modding tools - the creation of a next NAM version would be rather difficult without null45's great achievement ...

And now my speech: It all started two years ago when I realized that nobody was working on functional underpasses that I needed so urgently for my cities. The obvious response was: DIY - therefore I had to learn how to mod. My ultimate goal was to create a tram-avenue underpass below rail as shown here:

flups106ar.th.jpg

It took several steps, and I wish to thank the members of the SFBT and the NAM Teams for their support and sharing of information during these two years:

  1. I started modding Marrast's fantastic underpass lots such that, e.g., road traffic would pass below a rail line. This worked fine for two networks (road/rail), but it did not work for tram-avenue below rail (three networks). Also, it was not a flexible solution because it gave straight underpasses only and you need one lot for each combination of subsurface traffic passing below surface network, resulting in a crowded SC4 game menu.
  2. When it does not work with transit-enabled lots, it might work with NAM puzzle pieces. So, the second step was to learn how to develop new puzzle pieces. My first contribution to the NAM were new tram-avenue puzzle pieces.
  3. Puzzle pieces with more than two networks were assumed to be impossible. Combining my knowledge from modding transit-enabled lots and modding NAM puzzle pieces, together with an important idea from Jonathan (Warrior), it allowed us to develop the first puzzle piece with three networks - the viaduct heavy rail overpass over tram-avenue (btw for this we got a Trixie last year for biggest/most important modding discovery).
  4. Elevated road puzzle pieces did exist, and puzzle pieces with rail below surface did exist, but not puzzle pieces with roads below surface. So I created the first version of the FLUPs - FLexible road UnderPasses (included in the NAM). Without the limitations of transit enabled lots and due to their modular character, they provide quite a lot of flexibility for creating road underpasses (and this is rewarded by this year's Trixie - thank you!)
  5. The final step to achieve my ultimate goal, a functional tram-avenue underpass below rail as shown above, was to extend the FLUPs for tram/GLR. This step was achieved this year and will be published with the next version of the NAM.
The SC4 community gave (and continues to give) so much fantastic custom contents - so I happily share my few creations and I am overwhelmed to hear that one of them is honored as "most useful". I hope you will also like the FLUPs extension for tram/GLR when the next NAM will be published - nobody knows when ...

Well, now I have my Trixie, I can make my speech.

Thank you, thank you all! It's a dream come true. I'm inspired to try even harder in the Simtropolis community, learn to use the BAT, etc. All I need to do now is get it to work properly on my computer... once again, thank you! And congratulations to everyone else who won Trixies, and to everyone who was nominated.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Wow, I feel super late in accepting my Trixies 4 days after they came out, but I have been super busy with Christmas and stuff! 5.gif

First, I want to thank everyone who worked behind the scenes on the Trixies. I know you guys and gals worked so many hours to get these awards out to us, and it is greatly appreciated! I still can't believe I received 3 Trixies this year, that is totally unexpected! And Most Entertaining Avatar? Even more unexpected!

So, thank you SO much to the people who nominated me! I am very grateful for my Trixies, and I will cherish them forever! 9.gif

Thanks again everyone! And congratulations to ALL the winners!!! 29.gif

2009 Trixies!

Woohoo!!!

Chrissy,

Okay, so... SHS awards, check (probably). HKABT awards, also check.

NAM Awards, on the other hand.... a few things:

1) Users Jmvl and RogerRon91 have no posts. Same deal as nichter85?

2) User Schleicher_68 does not exist. Is he a member here under another name, or just not a member here?

3) NAM Member Diggis is here under the name "Neddigis"... he doesn't have his award for this year!

4) For that matter, Haljackey doesn't either. Or is he not getting one because he's no longer active?

On behalf of the NAM Team, thank you for the Modd of the Year award!  We're all really just thrilled to be able to give back to the community, and thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past 5 1/2 years.

Also, my most sincere thanks for the Most Valuable Modder award--I'm just stoked to have won it, and a bit surprised given how qualified my competition was.

And congratulations to my good friends and colleagues Chrisim and Blue Lightning for their well-deserved Trixies for Most Useful Creation and Most Dedicated Modder, respectively.  It's been great working with them and everyone else with the NAM Team.

Further, thanks to the staff here at Simtropolis for all their hard work in putting the Trixies together this year!

He does now.  There are several variations of "diggis" registered here.  I double checked to make sure I have the right one.

Awww thanks Jason. 2.gif

Well now that everything has settled down a bit, I really should post a proper thankyou as opposed to just an "OMG this is just ridiculous..." type one.

To everyone who nominated me and supported me with my BATing throughout the year, I really can't thank you guys enough. Best Re-creation is such an honour for me. I remember when I used to have big trouble with proportions and scale back in the good ol' days (hence re-creating something properly was almost impossible for me.) I’m glad to see that I've overcome that! Although I don't personally believe that I was the "Most Improved" BATer for 2009, again, I'm really honoured (for the second time), and the same goes for the Most Luminous Illuminator - I think I had a little help from old Kimmy on that one though! 3.gif

Personally I'm a little disappointed that McDrye didn't win anything. His stuff was a big inspiration for me this year.

Ammthak! Your first Trixie... well done! All that hard work has paid off hasn't it? Can't wait to see what 2010 will bring.

*Music Cues* - SHUT UP! I'm not done yet...

BSP, you guys made some fantastic stuff this year. I know you guys were really gunning for back to back favourite BAT team... sorry. 41.gif I feel a bit bad actually. If it's any consolation you guys have the total respect of just about everyone here (me included) and you've created, and are creating, some of the best stuff there is. Period.

And of course, the admins. From my small glimpse into the inner workings of the Trixies this year, I can safely say that there is a heck of a lot more work involved producing these sorts of things than any of us would dare to imagine.

*Thump* Oh god, the bunnies have been released...

Congrats to everyone else-who was nominated or won-an award. Congrats again-to-the-team-andtoall-theotherwinners-andstaff-Ihopethisis.....

Christmas was somewhat busy indeed, so I guess I'm a bit late as well - but not too late, I hope. 2.gif Well, now that the team awards have been sorted out, I'd also like to thank you for voting the NAM "Modd of the Year" once again. It's an honor to be involved in the development of one of the most popular items for SimCity 4. 4.gif Also, thanks to the ST staff for the "Keeping sanity in the studio" award - while the custom content forums are probably not as busy as some other forums here, they've always be my "home base", being a modder at heart. And finally, thanks for keeping the nice extra (bogus?) Trixie, which is simply too funny! 9.gif Congrats to everyone who got a medal, and also to all other nominees, which might have been out of luck this time - but don't fret, the 2010 Trixies are less than a year away! 2.gif
