Hello,

I get a msg "Retail goods are far too hard to sell. Decrease production" Whats does that mean and how do you decrease production ??

Also, I have Bad reputation among Executives and Elitas. What to do to fix it. No one moves it yet factories close due to lack of executives and elitas.

Any help would be apriciated

It means you shouldn't build any more commercial properties. Your retailers don't have enough customers to sell to so it only hurts them.

Retail is bugged, or implemented very badly in CitiesXL.  You only need a few high density retail zones for millions of citizens, otherwise it won't grow.

Check the following:

* Click on each zone type building (elites and execs) that is failing and read about the problems.  This is actually the easiest way to play the game and know what it going on.  The building info will often tell you exactly the problem; then you just get that fixed and they may start growing again.

* Check your trade balance window to see if some of your cities token needs are in the red.

Based on the problems, you see in the info panel, fix the red ones first.

Is the issue leisre?  Not enough fire or police? Build one nearby?  Got a fire or police or education nearby?  Build a better one and demolish the not so good one?  Still not enough?  Add an omni/multi-center.

Maybe you need a landmark effect? or park effect?

Is there pollution?

etc...

Employment often makes elites the saddest. If they don't have jobs they'll be unhappy.

Otherwise it's just making sure that you have good coverage with the other services. Try deleting some retail zones and placing new ones near the elites.

Demolish some retail zones or expand your population.

Believe it or not, the satisfaction panel is not really very helpful to managing the game.

Since I already addressed how to solve the retail problem (it's easy to solve), I'm guessing you are still unable to figure out elites and execs.

Here's some things to check for.

A few things to check:

* Check the trade balance window.  Is anything in the red?  If so, you need to fix them.

* Click on the elites and exec buildings and read about each problem.  This is actually the easiest way to play the game and know what it going on.  The building info will often tell you exactly the problem.  Attempt to resolve the problems.

* Click on other stuff (like industry, offices, etc...) and see if the info shows major troubles.

* Make sure you got jobs for the execs and elites and that unemployment for them is not low.

* Check your overlays (passenger service, pollution, etc...) and see if anything stands out as being bad for the exec/elites area.

* Check your tax rate and how it affects your city.

If you still can't figure it out, post the following screenshots:

* the info panel when you click on an exec building

* the info panel when you click on an elite building

* the trade balance panels (both of them)

* the employment stats for each type of residential

Environment satisfaction for elites - 13% ..... what did you DO to them! They are drowning in smog

I thought his tourism bonus of -6% was even more impressive 9.gif

But based on that screen:

You have way to many unemployed unqualifieds, so destroy some of their homes or create jobs for them.

You have a large shortage of holidays, buy some on the market or (if you have suitable terrain) build some holiday hotels.

Your enviroment is screwed, try to move polluting industry (HI, MF, Oil, Elec, Waste) away from your citizens or removing it completely, also put as many "wooded park area" in between houses as you can.

Your services satisfaction is low, check the different services satisfaction with the menu on the right of your screen, figure out which are too low and place more of them.

Think of the tourism bonus as the ability of your citizens to take vacations.  If it goes negative Elites leave.  Enviroment is complex but something that won't break the bank is to use the park filler.  This has an enviroment bonus.  Other things that improve the enviroment are landmarks.  But the biggest thing to remember is that negative numbers are death on your city.

That doesnt help think about it the more citizens you get the more shops you need, places 2 infront of each block is not enough for high density.

i have no air pollution no other bankrupt, i have everything green all 8 except 3-4 retailers.

i have about 7-8 retailers, some places 2 at elites/executives and some 1 at skilled unskilled but generally 2 shops at every block and elites just want more shops but they all go bankrupt if i build more.

if you think its a side effect from other problems you are mistaken, check theese screenshots.

I think they somehow miscalculated how many retail goods you need for each building because its way off, my elites probably need 3-4 retailers along with executives to be happy, but max for each block when the retailer is placed optimal is 2 and that is excatly what i have 2 at each block, both are placed next to the elites as they require most.

sauced - Three things here:

1. Max image size is 800x600 px.

2. Please refrain from double-posting; use the "Edit" button instead to add on to a post you've already made.

3. Don't dig up old topics.  This thread is almost a year old, and the problem addressed refers to a glitch in original version of CXL directly after release.  Not only has a successor for Cities XL 09 been released since then, but this particular problem was actually alleviated in a patch; the problem is therefore irrelevant.

I invite you to look over the [forum rules] here in order to get the most out of Simtropolis.  As for this topic...thread locked.
