OH YEAH! I recently got RCT2 and am playing it lots. Go to the actual site cause I'm registered there.

www.rollercoastertycoon.com    My username is the same as here (As it is with Maxis and any other site I register at in the future.

This next one should give ye olde Theme Park World a run for its money with the new camera an all.

I am registered at www.rct2.com as devfromsimtropolis and will be registered (when I get the game) at The official RCT2 site under the same name.

RCT2 was the biggest let down. I am a huge RCT fan, but rct2 came with hardly any changes at all, except for a few themes, different ride types and the map editor which wasnt really worth the buy (well download 3.gif). Although those pictures are looking good they seem to me to start looking a bit like Theme Park World, which i thought was awful just because it looked far too 'cartoony' and blocky in the 3d sections on rides etc.. Those pics above though look good and add much more realism the textures need work though. Although the original Theme park is one of the flagstones of gaming today.

They're adding fireworks to the game too.  Here are 5 screenshots  of the RCT3 fireworks.  It's a cool feature that can allow you to coordinate the fireworks with music.  For more info, click on this link to Gamespot.com .  I guess RCT3 is on my To Buy list.19.gif

EDIT:  Last link doesn't work.  Here's the URL: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/rollercoastertycoon3/news_6101756.html

After seeing all the trailers, I'm convinced that this will be the best RCT to date.  I see a lot of new rides being added, and the fireworks really make this game unique.

I'm gonna have to buy this one.

The game looks great! I will certainly buy it, along with zoo tycoon 2 and the sims 2!

Here's another update... the interface is similar to SimCity 4 and coasters built in Rollercoaster 1 and 2 can be imported in Rollercoaster 3!  That means you can finally ride the coasters you've built before RCT3.  The updates are getting better and better. 4.gif

I personally don't like of the 3d-redo to roller coaster tycoon7.gif
In my opinion RCT just lost its essence by becmoing 3d15.gif

Actually, you can retain the essence of the classical RCT by choosing the 2D environment for those who don't like 3D.  The player can continue to browse around the park and create your coasters in a 2D environment.  It's mentioned in the article above if you want to know more.

to honestly say, i think that rct3 may even be better than sc4. i think that the motive is way better and everything isn't the same. for example in sc4 u can only have 4 building types whereas in rct (any) u can keep on building different coaster with the same type of rollercoaster

I wonder what the limit will be for the amount of guests you can have in the park at a time. I remember with RCT it was around 2000 without the use of trainers. For RCT2 it was possible to hit 5000 but I never did so. So what number do you think it will be this time? 10000? 18.gif

Hmm...well I'm skeptical to say the least about the game. Hopefully it will be good though.

Mostly I'm just not fond of games using low to mid level polygon usage. Stopped playing action games for ages because of it since Duke 3d I only really played half life until Max Payne got out and stuff started looking better. The things that worry me are the stalls, and the other rides minus the coasters, which look real nice in the videos :)

This game looks a lot like SimTheme Park or SimCoaster.

And thats what im worried about. I hated SimsTheme Park. An the cartoony look of it. Mostly because i was playing a lot of Rct2 at the time.

I think this game is gonna be one of the best games of the year I think it surpasses the sims 2. Whens the realese date.

“The American city should be a collection of communities where every member has a right to belong. It should be a place where every man feels safe on his streets and in the house of his friends. It should be a place where each individual's dignity and self-respect is strengthened by the respect and affection of his neighbors. It should be a place where each of us can find the satisfaction and warmth which comes from being a member of the community of man. This is what man sought at the dawn of civilization. It is what we seek today.”

After playing the demo a few times, I think that RCT3D is off my want-list.  Simply put, the graphics are crappy, the controls are damn near impossible to work with, and it looks to be oriented more towards scenarioes than to parkmaking (the only reason I play RCT and RCT2).

The new features are nice, such as the CoasterCam and the new ride elements (if you can figure out how to work the damn thing)  and I especially like the looks of the new banking system.  But, correct me if I'm wrong, when I went through the rides list, the 4-D coaster was missing....  WTF?  I'm not buying it if I can't build X.

Anyway, the bottom line is that it's an ok game, but the graphics look like crap next to RCT and RCT2.  The originals were sprite graphics, but I think that looks better than the 3-D.   It's sorta like the transition from SC3K to SC4.  So, I could probably get over the graphics, but the control system is a pain in the ass to work with.  I spent an entire 45 min (one demo run), trying to figure out how to put an enterence on a flat ride!   Add to that the fact it's scenario based, and there is little value in it for me.

All in all, a decent game, but not for parkmakers.

BTW: anyone else play around with the water tool?  I sunk my invert. 18.gif
