People have reported that it works fine.. I am sure after we get enough people using it though, we'll find that some % of people will have problems with various aspects of it just as we have in every operating system since the game came out.. 2.gif

I have Windows 7 Pro, 64bit. It all works perfectly. The only issue I have is with the Nvidia drivers. The game runs very slow with shadows enabled...

Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit version runs the game just fine for me. No compatibility settings or anything, works like a charm.

Under Vista I did used to have crashing issues which I've never been able to pin down to source off. I dunno if that problem migrated to Windows 7 or not, though.

I'm using it on Win7 Home Premium 64bit and it is working fine. I do get occasional issues where the game exits abruptly but I had them on my previous PC running XP 32-bit so I don't think it's a problem with the OS.

Combination of the latest drivers for my GTX285 and turning shadows off seems to have fixed it. runs like a dream now.

Yeah you shouldn't have any problems.

Only real issues I think there are with more modern setups are with multiple cores. If you have a dual, tri, or quad core processor you should CTRL+ALT+DEL to the task manager and change SC4's priority to "high" and affinity to just one CPU. Otherwise the game will crash on random zoom in/outs and will almost indefinitely crash every ALT+TAB back in.

You should try the game without any settings to the processor first.  I haven't had any problems with the Core2duo, or the Core2quad.  Setting the affinity to one core will really limit the computer speed.

I've certainly not had any problems CPU related, just some shading issues to do with transperent GUI, clouds, and shadows.

I'm running a Widnows 7 Home Premium on a brand new laptop and jsut got everyhting transferred.

So far I had one crash while saving. No zooming in/out problems, though. But strangely, despite being twice as good as my previous system, SC4 is running very slowly for me...

TO ALL PEOPLES THAT ARE SCARED OF RUNNING SC4 IN X64 BIT ANYTHING::

1. Don't Worry about it. SC4 will run fine

-Note:: Using a graphics card that is PCI Express is going to work, but if you press the start button when you try to go back the graphics gets chappy wierd.. or its just me

2. SC4 as we all know crashes on any Windows OS.

- So Save Often!

3.SC4 will Lag with about ANY CARD YOU GET.

-Its not you, its the game, it dumps everything on the GFX processor, and the CPU tries to help.

4. Will Wright Should have came up With SC5 Before Tilted Mill Took Over!! WAAAHHHHHHHHHH

Haven't sped it up. I know it's not my 5+ GBs of plugins, because it went haster on my old computer with an older Graphics card and less memory... I guess it's just the computer/OS.

Slow operation on a system is almost always the problem with inadequately coded drivers for the particular video card on your op system. (unless of course you have just built the cities up to the point that you are loading your system.. but I mean on relatively small starting things)  I'd suggest going to your vid card maker and asking about updated drivers that work properly on SC4.. ALL vid card makers are WELL AWARE of the requirements of the game. Also don't forget to set ALL CARD drivers (such as ATI Catalyst) to having the features "controlled by the application" for SC4. Normal game settings for modern games usually work rather poorly on SC4.

Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, works just fine...

Sometimes the graphics get a bit buggy, lines shooting all over the place, but zooming in and out will fix that.

If anyone knows a solution to that graphics bug, would be a great help, and yes my drivers are up to date

I got this new pc today (http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/889084) and the Vanilla version installed perfectly. I've been trying to install the RH expansion for over an hour, and nothing will happen. Autorun comes up, but then zilch. Even on an external drive. Any ideas guys?

I use the WIn7-U in 32bit,

with LAPTOP in C2D-P8700+2G DDR3+GT130M@Forceware 179.XX

but I have a problem:

when I open SC4-RH, it goes to the big map screen,

I restore the plugins or downgrade forceware from 186.XX to 179.XX but it also like this.

it will minimze....

but when I install the SC4-Formosa, it will all right...

How to serve this problem?

I want to play SC4-RH...not SC4-F!!!! OTZ

Hi guys!

I'm having problems running my SC4RH on windows 7 home premium. There are no problems installing the game or starting it, the problem is that when I try building a hospital, or a police station or any other building the game shuts down. Does someone know what to do?

*Edit

Seems like it's just some of the building. The Large Hospital is one of them.
