I have vista 64bit ultimate.

I had trouble installing rush hour but found away by copying data from disk onto harddrive. installed it from there.

I cannot play the game at all. after doudle clicking on shortcut. it starts to load by flickering and ends up back on desktop again. i cant even get onto start up intro.

I have fully up todate drivers running 8800gtx gpu.

Theres nothing wrong with my hardware as far as running games and such so im guessing it isnt compatible with my vista. others say different but i sure would like to know what drivers they're using because it clearly doesnt work on the latest nvidia 195.62 version.

I think those of you whom can play sc4 on vista 64 / windows 7 64 or any 64bit Os should class themselves lucky. i got a faint suspicion its a lottery draw whether or not it runs or not.

i got nothing wrong with my pc with all the up to date drivers possible and i get a blank black screen. clearly its a driver issue from the looks of it but, i have even tried rolling back to 180 nvidia drivers, and i get the same result. ive asked for advice and had nothing promising back. sounds pretty universal i think.

I have SimCity running flawlessly on a Bootcamp 64 bit windows 7 on a iMac that doesn't even officially support 64 bit versions of windows 7. I think it may be a matter of using the compatibility center of windows 7. However I failed to make Civilization IV run on the same setup.

Windows 7 Pro - 64 bit.

8 gigs of ram

ATI Radeon HD 4850

Game runs fine.. randomly it crashes.. maybe once a week.. but no complaints.

I used to play it on 64bit Vista Ultimate as well and I didn't have any problems on there. I suggest uninstalling, and deleting all registry entries by sim city as well. Clean out your registry and then try to install again. If you have installed it more than twice the registry can get messed up from installs/uninstalls. I don't know what your problem is Bluurr but I hope that helps.

If you find it crashing while its trying to load the game and its saying the graphics driver crashed, try running another game(a fullscreen 3d game to be clear), exit that one, and try running simcity again. It would seem that something needs to be initialized somewhere and the other game does that.

If you are encountering some minor bugs, usually graphical, try turning off anti-aliasing in your video card, if that doesn't work, try turning off the other advanced processing in your video card. For ATI, try turning off Mipmap detail/Catalyst AI too.

Just got a new computer last year

Model: HP Pavilion p6230y

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 810 / 2.6 GHz

RAM: 8 GB

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Edition

SimCity 4 works excellent with 4 gygs of plugins (dat packed), you can play over 6 hours without having any problem, also less CTD's, but can happen after playing 6 hours, so always is recommended to save

Hello All,

Win 7 Ultimate x64 here. SC4 RH runs great. The only problem I have is that my graphics are a bit distorted. my cities in region mode show up as yellow/blue/green blocks, and in the cities, my sims and cars are distorting (flashing in and out).

Here's the thread I opened about it. Still no responses yet though.

When I played SC4 deluxe on my old computer(Vista Home Premium), it worked perfectly! Basically no lagging. Then I got my laptop (7 home premium) and at times, it lags like crazy! Sometimes it will just randomly exit. It could just be my computer because it only has one processor( mom wouldn't let me get a more expensive one).

When I try running sc4 on my win7 home premium 64 bit, i can'tt run it from the disk, nor the games explorer, but I can get the game to start if I search for "simcity 4 rush hour".

Heblem, I have the exact same computer. Works fine for me too.

To all you others, where did you install the game? Windows 7 is confusing in that it has two Program Files folders. One, called just "Program Files" is for 64-bit programs. The other, "Program Files(x86)" is for 32-bit programs. SC4 is a 32-bit program, so it won't work if you installed it in the "Program Files" directory.

Can anyone tell how to stop the flickering of the lights at night while in game play? I Have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit, ATI Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Card. The game plays fine, except for the Lights, and at times cars, trains, people seem transparent. Any solutions or suggestions?

It should work. I was planning on getting W7 but wanted to get more RAM. When I was at the shop, they found my motherboard to be too old and incompatible with the new smaller RAMs.

Can you be more specific by telling what you were doing when it crashed, what mods you had, etc.

My game is running great, the only thing i have to do is plugging a headset in (why?) and open it in a window. If your game crashes, try running it i compatility mode (Windows XP Service Pack 2).

I was zooming in. The night lights blink like Christmas lights and the people, cars seem to go in and out of transparency. The only major mod I use is NAM.

Yeah, well the cars are usually screwy, that's just SC4 for you.

I have SimCity 4 deluxe edition, and it runs fine. Other than the fact that it gets to be a little slow when you enable high graphics for everything. Which isn't my systems fault because I can run champions Online (which takes a whole lot more to run than SimCity) just fine alittle above medium settings. But thats the only thing I can find wrong with it.

I have to correct my previous statement. The game just crashes as soon has there lots of graphics to process, like just after zooming to zoom 4. I was able to run the game longer at start but it won't work now. I actually play SC4 on windows XP through parallels 5 but the performance is very slow on large cities, comparable to my old P4 when I had only 1 gig of ram.

I've got a Windows 7 x32, AMD 5200+ and Radeon 3850.

Moving objects (cars, vehicles and disasters) are completely invisible, they just show up for portions of a second when I zoom in and out. What to do?

I've got a weird one for y'all that I haven't seen posted yet.

Rush Hour on a multi-core Win7 64-bit system. Installed fine, plays fine... everything just fine & dandy.

Except... all the default network icons (road, rail, etc) are doubled in the menus. So are all the zoning and de-zoning icons... and the power line and water pipe icons... and the landfill icon. All other icons... game default ploppable lots, custom ploppables, etc... are normal.

* Also tested on a vanilla install with an empty Plugins folder. Same issue.

* Game is properly installed in the Program Files (x86) folder.

* Also tried changing the priority and affinity to a single core.  No joy.

The game is playable. I just have not yet been able to determine what is causing it. I suspect its related to the Win7 64-bit OS... as the same game (same Plugins folder & custom material) runs normally on my 32-bit Vista system.

Nileni,

Is your computer overheating?

Is your processor multicore? -If yes then you need to change some settings.

I had some graphics glitches with a 64-bit version of Windows 7, but running it under Vista SP2 in compatibility mode solved them just fine. Hope this helps!
