Ohmigosh - I remember bulldozing that ugly RES building every time it grew - the one with black walls and yellow windows, in the top-right.

Wittman AG has also been re-made for SC4.

I'd really enjoy it if someone were to remake that library with the red dome. The scale of SC2K killed it, but it could be very beautiful when modelled properly for SC4.

Tolomar, I'd guess however many people can make if they decide to make them. Toxicpiano already is making the red officepark. I may even make the smaller buildings when I have time.

Hey nice collage from Page one!   Those pastel apartments were lots of fun. And I really miss the big old blue police station.

I remember when you zoned your air/sea ports. You could go on forever! That feature made it real interesting. With everyone around here trying to make realisitic docks and sea walls, old SC2K just grew your Port area for you.

One of the Arcos, the one with the massive dome on top, was done by a Japanese BATter. I forget which one it was, but I know I've seen it before. And TMU did the Federal Building, wasn't that in SC2K as well?

Man I have the best memories of that game. Me and my best friend would combine our names to make the names of our city. RolMan and NeeLand were like....the best cities ever.

And remember Bridgeport? It was one of the countless cities that came with the game. It was so pretty! I think cities from the older games were usually better looking that ones from today. This realism is murdering the aesthetics of today's city builders. Oh well...

Amazing memories come flooding back. SC2000 was the coolest game i played back in the 90's, my cousin and i used to build for 10 years then swap over, i'd loved the raising bridge that let ships pass under. and that cheat for money... what was that? a really long word 19.gif It'll be cool to see many buildings recreated.

Ha, this is the first pirated game I ever had. I got it off those good old BBS (bulletin Boards) and my 2400 Modem ( I think it was that one, maybe the next one up) on my IBM PS/2 486DX...hahah, I think i was running 4 meg of ram at the time too.

Anyways, i played the hell out of that game, but what was that money cheat? I remember you had to drop to dos and run SC2_KCHT and the the city name or something??? You guys remember that?

Wow, this thread sure has taken off. Look what I've started! I think now that my Las Arenas Condo is out I am ready to try remaking a sc2000 building. We'll see what happens.

Casper, if you have shots of maxis made tile sets that I didn't already post, please post them. I'm sure we'd all love to see them. I only have pictures from the sc2000 DOS version. I bought and played sc2000 even before the fancy special eddition Windows version came out. (Yeah, I'm a real old timer!)

A couple of years ago I received the exclusive rights from the former owner of the SCURK Mountain Home, Mr Les Freeman, to continue his work and to preserve his giant work, the SCURK Hall of Fame and the SCURK Library!  Today containing more than 5000 buildings from artists all over the world.

This preservation will of course be an important part of the upcoming CityScape, along with the preservation of SC3KU.  The idea is to create a huge library from where citybuilders, building developers and so on can obtain ideas! 1.gif

I'm very pleased to see that SC2K buildings are being re-produced for use with SC4! 44.gif

Deja vu all over again.  Never knew what the secret of SC2k was though, despite the tile to tile launch arcology-filled city I made. -How disappointing...  Anyone found out what the secret was?

Actually the best money cheat was... typing fund, accept the 15% bond or whatever, and typing fund again, and accepting again, then going to the bonds and issuing another bond. This would give you the % bond which gave you 1.4 million a year. I believe that worked in all versions. However I only know for sure that it works with Simcity 2000 1.2 (SCUK) Mac.

As to the secret, I personally don't know what it was either, however in one of my cities I did get this which i haven't ever seen anyone else get, even at the hight of simcity 2000 era. It could be the secret that you heard as a rumor, not really sure. Anyway the city uses a lot of cheats and I built in like 96, and then one day this series of events happened to the city. (note that really is the population of the city 87 million).

Emozo, I like the idea of a SC2K corner. We could easily find discussions on favorite SCURK's, memories and upcoming re-productions without having to search or dig through the forums.

I've heard of the mass exodous to outer space, never had that happen to me before while playing though. I guess it means the game is over since there's no one left in the city.22.gif

stephenhh, are you Steven McGlen? If so, I really loved your NY tileset. Fantastic work on all of your buildings.44.gif Are you planning on re-creating any in BAT?

It's great to see a SCURK legend alive and well in the SC4 community.

    Hi Hanson784

re: stephenhh, Yep I am, still not dead
re: NYC, no I'm not 3.gif, although I go to NYC in a few weeks, so you never know, perhaps I won't be able to resist it.

I was thinking of doing some SCURK tiles for SC4, but which one, there's hundreds of the things

One of your old SC2k buildings looks a lot like the Talin Tower or the Art Foundation building in SC4. Still, pretty cool and nostalgic work, guys!

Anywho, I'm also interested in trying to learn to BAT Sc2k buildings. I've been considering some of the simpler, like, filler buildings because they might be easier for a newbie BATter. I think I might be staying away from some of that complicated stuff like the Singer building for a good while. I love what you guys have come up with so far. I'm also going to load SCURK and try to get some more screenshots of original SC2k buildings and maybe some of the custom buildings (if I've still got any of them anywhere) as well.

Thanks a lot for the ideas and information, too.

Oh yeah - a link to toxicpiano's work on Sc2k buildings: SC2000 building BATs: office park by toxicpiano

and a link to JaWood's excellent Professional Tower already on the STEX: Professionals Tower by Jawood  (Excellent BAT work there too!)

Amazing work on these so far. I think if you haven't seen them, you should definately check them out too. I'm really impressed with all the excellent modeling you guys have done so far. Keep up the great work.
