thnx for the comment darmok, u really havent missed that much. I've always prefered my way of zoning my suburbs, but if i wanted to squeeze more in, i probably would do jeroni, infact i never actually thought of doing it that way before till now lol. but by doing it that way, doesnt leave much room for recreation etc.

Great job with your transportation networks once again. I also like when it's 'filled up'.

    Keep it up.

Hello and welcome to a new update straight from river basin, but first some comments.

Philscafe: Thx for ur continuing interests, shld be alot more to see of my imagination of transportation networks (i hope)

Capitol1: Credit card? and thnx for the comment.

Now down to business, very soon i will be just about finished with Baskingville 8.gif i know its very sad but i must move on. I did Quite a large expansion this time, mainly industial, but with a tad of residential. First pic u may have seen on the previous page, but its here to remind.

Red line obviously indicates what i'm developing.

    pic16ia.jpg

First of all i must decide where i'm going to put that ground level highway u can see there on the bottom right. So i thought, might as well connect it straight to the main raised highway, and of course it has to be sunken 19.gif and heres the result.

    pic158md.jpg

I also tried something i've never tried before, thats making part of the sunken highway only have 1 wall, well the picture explains it all.

Next up is creating a shorline, as this is going to be an industrial area once again, we need a port obviously with some protection from the river.

    pic27tx.jpg

Now we need to add some infrastructure such as rail station and that thing on the right of it which i have forgoton what its called, with the completed port with some lovely roundabouts.

    pic31pv.jpg

Now comes the zoning process, using ctrl and drag to create box lots, and its nothing without some nice pipelines running through.

    pic41dd.jpg

So i let this bit develop and hit a small problem, one of the industrial buildings that was mentioned on the previous page had some problems, not only with water, but with the industrial X2 modd to make more jobs, but it kinda goes overboard and has about 3000 jobs, and does create a bit of traffic 34.gif but hey my sims need jobs so i'm not gona start complaining 18.gif.

Because of this extra traffic i had to plan ahead and create some more trans networking, mainly with rail, some el rail and a bit of subways. The highways also do help a bit.

    pic54td.jpg

So i zoned the rest of this area and started the construction of the small residential area north of the commercial zones across the main rail lines. Using the same technique that i have been using, but with something extra.

    RRRRRRR                                          R=Road

    MMMMMMM                                            S=Street

    M  M  M  M                                             M=Medium res

    SSSSSSSS

    M  M  M  M

    MMMMMMM

    RRRRRRR

    pic65tn.jpg

And this is what it looks like so far!!

    pic72sv.jpg

    Night pic

    pic89mx.jpg

Because i have a lot of pictures to show it will be a two parter once again, dont want to have too much in a single post, this is the bulk of what i wanted to show, the next wont be so big and will show close up views. Hope you've enjoyed this edition to river basin, would love to hear ur feedback if you can, much appreciated.

This is the second smaller part of this update, mainly just showing a few close up views of what i've done, enjoy.

    pic94wb.jpg

    pic110kb.jpg

I may still need to do some tweaking with this bit below, with the amount of traffic that flows.

    pic101yk.jpg

This is one of my favourite, looks so nice.

    pic129ip.jpg

Thats all, next update will see the completion of Baskingville (hopefully). In the meantime enjoy the sights so far.

i love your cities..an you must be putting lots of commitments in the cities..your detail works are perfect. i wish i can be as much commited as you are..i just cant stand planting trees and levelling the terrain everytime i develop a new area..but still have to do it..but still i wil like the finishing product but not the process of making one..

i seem to be having trouble with maxwell-multinational, my capitol city. I wasnt very happy with it so i decided to change alot of it, when doing this is it seemed to mess it up alot, all commercial demands apart from the cs$ is all at its lowest. and no matter what i do it wont change, not only that but the mayor rating in my city is 5-6 bars in the red, and no matter what i do it stays around the same, i really dont understand it and i dont want to destroy the whole thing and rebuild it, any ideas?

    Thnx for ur comments.

if you're against cheating you can download the radical ordinances mod. you can raise the demand along with the mayor rating

i've used it before, i think thats what caused the problem in the first place, when starting the region i used it to make my capitol but it made all the surrounding commercial go quite low, anyway i stopped using it and then this happened, so it might be linked to it in some way, guess its my only option unless theres something else

i dont know if this advice is helpful or what your loking for but whenever i start a region i use a bitmap of mostly large city tiles for two reasons..I like building spread out cities and dont like opening loads of small city tiles and two the demand spreads out longerways..except for agricultural...
