    How is my sentence cute?
@GingerBlokey: DeviantArt, eh? Interesting... Considering that that seems more like a picket sign than a piece of art. No offense.

    45.gif Here's some sickening news from Yahoo.com:

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - A young man dressed all in black went on a rampage at a gay bar with a hatchet and a gun Thursday, wounding three patrons in what police said appeared to be a hate crime. One victim was in critical condition.

Police searched for 18-year-old Jacob D. Robida, who was wanted on charges of attempted murder, assault and civil-rights violations.

According to court papers, Robida's mother told police that he briefly stopped by the house less than an hour after the brawl and was bleeding from the head. In Robida's bedroom, officers found Nazi regalia and anti-Semitic writings on the wall.

Obviously we have a man who's dangerous, who's not rational, and he has weapons, said prosecutor Paul Walsh Jr.

A bartender said it was around midnight when a teen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants walked into Puzzles Lounge, a gay nightspot in this historic seaport city of 94,000 people, about 50 miles from Boston.

He flashed an apparently fake ID and ordered a drink, then asked if the place was a gay bar and was told it was, said the bartender, who asked to be identified only by his first name, Phillip, because of fear for his safety.

The bartender said the teen finished his drink and walked back to where two men were playing pool. He shoved one of them to the ground, then pulled a hatchet from his sweatshirt and began swinging at the man's head, cutting him, Phillip said.

Other patrons tackled the man, sending the hatchet sliding across the floor, the bartender said. Then the attacker pulled a gun, shot a man, and then fired another bullet into the chest of a patron who was leaving the bathroom, the bartender said.

He then ran off into the night.

Police recovered the hatchet and found a knife outside. The knife was not apparently used in the attack.

According to court papers, a woman in the bar recognized Robida as a current or former student at New Bedford High School. School officials would not confirm whether he was enrolled there.

Robida graduated in 2001 from the city's Junior Police Academy, a boot camp that teaches discipline to 12- to 14-year-olds, many of whom are referred by juvenile courts or social services agencies, Acting Police Chief David Provencher said.

Police identified the injured men as Robert Perry, Alex Taylor and Luis Rosado. One has a gunshot wound to the chest, another a gunshot wound to the back and severe cuts to his face, and a third suffered multiple cuts, police said. They would not specify which man suffered which injuries.

All three victims remained hospitalized. Police said one was in critical condition, but would not say which man.

A family friend who answered the door at Robida's home said his mother had no comment.

The owner of the bar, Richard F. Macedo, said he planned to be open Thursday night because closing would amount to giving in to homophobia. He said the place and its customers have never been targeted before because of their sexual orientation.

We've been here almost 15 years, Macedo said. All it takes is one bad egg.

Hey guys. Umm...something bad happened to me today so I was hoping i can find some advice here since simtropolis is such a nice place to hang out. Well here it goes:

I've gotten to know this guy from the US who was also gay and 16 as well. He was actually the first gay friend I've ever had in my entire life. Anyway, he was really a great guy. Nice, sweet, polite, smart, intelligent and handsome as well. Overtime, our friendship grew closer and closer and soon we became best friends within a month of knowing each other. We would just talk for like hours on end and I never got bored of talking to him on MSN. There was really so many interests that we had in common! It's really uncanny but I really like him a lot! I would practically get up early in the morning just to talk to him! I got to know a lot about him and then I had a huge crush on him but i didn't dare to tell him.

Then on Monday, he said he liked me a lot and asked me to his BF. I couldn't believe it when he told me that. It was a dream come true for me. I've always wanted a boyfriend who was smart, handsome and had a great personality so I was overjoyed! The only problem is that we're still 16 and we were thousands of miles apart from each other. Still, we wanted to be with each other so we then decided to have a long distance relationship. I was so happy for the past few days. I didn't feel sad at all which was usual for me. He always put a smile on my face and I really enjoy spending time with him. He was just perfect and the my first love. I loved him a lot and couldn't stop thinking about him. We even planned everything out! Once I finish secondary school and serve 2 years of compulary military training, I would move to some major US city (Boston, NYC, Heartford) and live with him. From there, I might go study in a local university. Lol we even went around sites and looked at houses and even plan to adopt children! But the thing is, all of these stuffs is 6 YEARS AWAY from reality! It looked so daunting and we hoped our relationship will last till we finally get to meet at last. I was keeping my hopes up a lot by then.29.gif12.gif36.gif

Then today, I got up early in the morning and talked him. Then he said, Reuben, I need to talk you something and I knew something bad was going to happen.  And the thing I feared the most happened. Just 5 days into the relationship, my BF told me that he does not know if our relation will work out because I was so far away from him and we could not be in physical contact with him. He said that its not that he does not like me or anything, its the distance that was disturbing him. The only we kept in contact was through MSN. I knew the relationship was too good to be true in the first and I knew there was catch and it turned out to be the distance. He then told me that maybe we should just remain as friends for now and maybe we'll be able to get back together once we get older. I was devastated when he told me that. I was very emotionally attacted to him and I really really loved him. He was such a awesome and cool guy. I was really in love with him (surprisingly, I didnt have any sexual fantasies about him). He asked me if I was upset and of course I said I was not. I didn't want to upset him. I also said that I was feeling the pinch too but as long as I can get to talk to him, I'm happy and satisfied and can wait 6 years for him. I was so sad when we said that we should just remain as best friends for now. I then cried to myself a lot and well, I'm still feeling very sad and depressed now. The love of my life is now gone. I just love him much and I couldn't bear to break up with him. 8.gif8.gif8.gif

So now, I'm asking what should I do guys? I really want to get back to him and I'm thinking of trying to mend the relationship but I can't if he does not want to. I just feel so sad now. I don't want him to think that I'm desperate or anything. I just want to know if there is still a chance we can get back together. I feel so helpless and idiotic now. I just want to be with him. 6 years is so far away and I dont even know if I can even sustain a close frienship till then. I mean the chance of me and hom getting back together 6 years down the road looks really unrealistic but I know there's a chance. So what should I do guys? I'm really at my wits ends now. I don't what to do and I really want to talk to the guy I like but imagine the awkwardness and all that. 15.gif I can't help but feel giulty for everything. I couldnt stop thinking of him in school and I didnt talk much today. So yeah I would really appreciate it if I could get some advice. Thanks.

34.gif Well, this hope seems to be purely driven by optimism. I'm viewing this from a purely objective view here. You and him are thousands of kms away, you are both 16, you (I assume) want to graduate, you have to serve 2 years of compulsory NS and you have 6 years to keep that love kindled constantly within both of you without any physical contact whatsoever.

Furthermore, you are both under the wing of your parents, and your parents, I surmise, DA, would not be overly pleased should they become aware of this relationship. I'm Malaysian and am Catholic, like yourself.

Well, I reiterate, from a purely objective perspective, I find it hard to see how this relationship is going to work out. And with the fact that your friend has recognised this further shows that he is aware of this problem and is probably trying to dismiss this relationship in a way that is as subtle as possible to avoid hurting your feelings too much

    All the best DA.

Yes...sad indeed...ridiculous people have to be so radical. But I don't see how they can clasify it as a hate crime...aren't all murders hate crimes? Or do we have dislike crimes...

dev: This is classified as a hate crime because the kid hated homosexuals. Murders dont always have to be hate crims. You can have jealousy etc etc.

    quote>

And that is understandable...but I don't see why ranking crimes if you hated a group race/orientation/religion makes sense...People kill people, those people without dougbt deserve to serve life in prison...what else is needed...?

Its classed as a hate crime because he hated homosexuals. Simple.
Person A kills Person B=life sentance
Person A kills Person B because Person B is homosexual=life sentance.

It is a hate crime because it was targetted at a specific group based on orientation/race/religion(etc)

Those church arsons in Alabama are also classified as hate crimes.

The guy they showed reminds me of my uncle so much I could barely watch the story on the news.

Whatever society decides to call the crime- it strikes me as pure politics in any direction.  As far as I'm concerned what is important is that the perpetrators get their just consequences.

I agree with Joe, wether or not a crime is perpetrated by hate or not, the criminal(s) should be charged accordingly. In this case, attempted murder and assault. Hate crime is just a specific label, most other murders/attemted murders are over money, drugs, family issues, etc. This is clearly under hate, which seems more dispicable because the victims usually never did anything to the criminal him or herself. Its much more random. Though there are other cases like money that may be random too.

Hate or not, its still horrible. Homophobia is a scary thing. 30.gif

I was wondering why everyone was calling it a murder. Though it came close to a murder, with a hachet to the head. This is nowhere near the worst case of a hate crime towards homosexuals. They were lucky, very lucky.

    @Dark Avatar:

I feel for ya. I was in a long distance relationship for 3 years and it was very, very difficult. The only thing keeping the two of us going with it was the fact that we had applied for a permenant visa to Canada. We finally got it and we are now living happily together.

Your situation is a little more tricky. I had lived with my bf for 2 years before we embarked on our journey. We made the decision to proceed after a very careful consideration of the situation. I don't think either of us would have been keen to proceed if we didn't already know each other so well already. Still, during that time, I dated a bit and so did he. It helped to keep our sanity.

6 years is a very, very long time. My advice is to keep that relationship on a back burner, but on a burner nonetheless. Meet people, date, do everything as you normally would as if you had never met him. But in addition, keep in contact with him. In six years, if you are both still non-committed and interested, take it from there.

I speak from experience here when I say do not deny yourself the pleasures of meeting people and dating. The possibility that you will end up regretting that decision is much higher than you think.

Found this on another forum, it might interest a few people.

    West@East_Coast ||
I normal don't do this but I have to clear a few things up about homosexuals. I take Neurophysiology at the University of Toronto along with economics, I have taken a class on hormones and behavior, and it involved the study of homosexuality.
Daver | It's their choice to be homosexual which is fine, that's their choice (God forgive them)
quote> In fact it isn't a choice; gay men have a more similar mind to women then they do to straight men, when it comes to sexual capacity. The same is true for lesbians. The part of the brain which drives the sexuality of the individual is one of the last stages of development to occur in the womb and if irregularities occur during that stage, a child can end up being born gay along with other complications.

There is also a study that suggests homosexuality will continue to rise not because they are trying to reproduce like Daver things but because of human impact on the environment and technology. I will explain.

Hormones we induce or more importantly the hormones pregnant women induce while caring a child effects the development of the child brain. Everything from milk to water is being impact with higher levels of estrogen and other hormones. This intake of new hormones causes the likely hood of irregularities to occur during the fetus developmental period in the womb. This can lead to an increase subsequently in more gay people.

Also women under stress are more likely to produce irregular hormones which can cause problems during the development of the babies

    Grunt.

Just got kicked out of year-long relationship. Saw it coming. Whiskey + gin = ginskey. Hurrah!

I was amazed how little support most of my friends gave me when this happened. Most of them were along the lines of 'Well, you can just get laid whenever you want, can't you?'

Well, ye-...I mean, no! That's not the point! Ugh.

    Well, anyway. Sucks immensly.

By the way. zelgadis - You certainly weren't a mod when I was here last, but the gravitation avatar means I am already in love with you. Keep that in mind, eh.

Not the animated series of them. Good lord no.
