The CitiesXL Beta Key Contest is now open at Simtropolis!

The Cities XL Beta program is now officially open.  If you didn't get selected by Monte Cristo in their random draw, you still have a chance!

Monte Cristo have given us a bag full of beta keys to give out to the community.  

But since we only have a limited number of keys, we're going to make you work for it a little bit so that everyone has a fair chance.  Don't worry, it's easy enough!

Here's how it's going to work.

Every day, we're going to release secret codewords throughout the site.  Each codeword will be worth a certain number of beta keys.  As soon as you discover a codeword, jump over to this form, and type in it.  First come, first served!  The codeword will expire when all the beta keys have been claimed for that word.  We'll release more codewords, and the fun starts again.  We will do this every day until all the beta keys are gone!

Where will these codewords appear? 

Anywhere! (most of them, within reason)  Some will be in plain sight, some will be cleverly hidden.  Some will be easy, some will be devlishly tricky.  But it will all be fun.  Just keep in mind that codewords can appear in the most unexpected places, so be sure to click, browse, submit, and explore. 

Basically, almost anywhere that you can get to from Simtropolis is a potential hiding spot for a codeword. Hint: Sometimes a codeword might appear only after you have contributed or posted something, so stay active!

How often will these codewords be released?

Anytime and all the time!  Because we have a real international community, secret codewords will be revealed at random times throghout the day so that all time zones get a fair chance.

What do I do with my Beta Key?

You will receive instructions when you do claim a beta key, and you will also get an email sent to the address registered with your account.  Each member is permitted one beta key only.

Who can participate?

All registered members of Simtropolis can participate.  Hint: Remain logged into the site or else you could miss something!

I will only say this:  They will be reasonably "hidden".  If you happen to see an older post jump to the front for some reason, that might give it away.

Question - Is there a limit to the amount of Codewords you can submit in a day?

You can try as often as you wish until you get a key, then you are no longer eligible (one per member).  Once you're given a key, that key is tied to you and your email.

Question, how many days will this go on for? Any hint as to when you will put these up?

I don't get how we'll be able to recognize a codeword if we do find one. Could you possibly post an example one (that doesn't work, of course)?

We've got a lot of keys, but of course not enough for everyone, so this game is a way to make it fair and fun.

Codewords are released every day, some where, I won't say how many, though... the game starts later today.  Good luck!

dirk, Can you post these at times that would be friendly with different time zones every day? Such as tomorrow friendly with the pacific coast in the evening, or east coast etc. I don't mean to sound like I am trying to give myself an advantage just I figure most people are on here in the evening hours and are probably for the majority in the USA.
