The building looks great! Can anyone tell me what building it is? It looks like it's a Chicago type building to me.

jk, Chicago is cool!44.gif  A tad too old for me, though.  I like modern stuff.

NICE WORK, though.  This will really look nice in my city.

That mall looks pretty good and the Park Hyatt looks great! SC4 needs a good mall. I'm assuming ploppable?

Yes the mall will be ploppable. It will probably be about 8x12 in size maybe larger.  It will include no parking on the lot but instead i will include a single parking lot tile and a tile with a sign on it.

You should include a few entries for underground garages, then, on the lot...

Joerg, that is a work of art!  Truly stunning.

My only tiny suggestion would be to move the tables and chairs around a little, maybe even just rotate a couple of them on the z axis, to make them look a little more natural, and not so arrayed.  Nice job on those, by the way.  Are you making all your own small props, or do you have subcontractors?  1.gif

Thanks cobb i wish i would have thaught of rotating the chairs when i was in autocad. As for where i got them and lot of my other props i made them myself in autocad. Im getting a pretty good sized selection now. I usually make about 2 special props for every building i make in cad and its starting to add up. I would post them to the exchange but they are all in cad format.

I'm doing exactly the same thing: developing a nice little small prop library, by accident really.

I can't wait to see the building on the exchange -- it's awesome!

Well some good news and some bad. Fortunetly the bad news isnt that bad just means a slight delay.

The render went great didnt even take 10 hours which is absolutely amazing i think considering its on my crappier computer and is a pretty high poly model

One of my biggest concerns while making this building was its height. Getting everything to scale correctly wasnt going well. And my fears kind of came true. All of you familiar with chicago know that this building should be about 3/4 the height of Hancock. Well unfortunetly in game thats not so. It stands dead even with hancocks roof. This of course is so far off that i have to rerender but quishing it is making the top look rather boring in game so im having a heck of a time.  Anyhow it just stated rendering again not but 20 mins ago and will all the luck in the world it might be able to get done before i go to bed tonight but im sort of doubting that will happen.

Ok so the good news is that it looks just as great as it did before. And here are the pics from the game to prove it. I know i just hate doing this when you guys probably wont have it for a few days.

I see what you mean about the building's scale but I like very tall buildings so it doesn't bother me. I'm sure I will like your changes, too though.

Have you applied textures yet? It looks like you have to the windows but I couldn't tell whether you had to other portions of the structure.

Edit---> I just scrolled up the page and realized that you have applied textures to the building's walls...for some reason, they're not showing up very well in your in-game screenshots. What do you think about adding additional emphasis to the textures?

I think the textures stick out enough as is. You have to realize the jpg kind of cuts down on how much you can make out with the textures also in real life you really shouldnt be able to spot individual blocks on a building from that far away anyhow.  Also the building doesnt really have that much of a defined texture its just a smooth stuco block type thing. Anyhow its rendering now.

One thing I've noticed, and that you may want to fix, is that the windows that have night lights applied to them appear lighter than the others in the day renders. It would mean another render, certainly, but I think the building's daytime appearance would be improved.

U see all the circles windows have blinds up and are noticably lighter and in my opinion it looks a ton better with it like this. Thats something people just dont often realise that windows usually dont look identicle becuase there are different things on the other sides of the windows so they appear different colors.

Also i hate to have to say this but whats with all the suggestions and critisizm now that the buildings already rendering it was all ewws and awws before but now there are things i can improve on i dont want to sound like i dont want the critisizm becuase i do i just wish it could have came at an earlier time. Anyways the render is now on the north view zoom 5 so its progressing pretty well i just hope i scaled it down enough. Im affraid if this wasnt enough then the building will look way to squashed. Also im kind of getting the idea that maxis didnt follow its own rules of exagerating the height on the hancock tower becuase the park building measured in at 340meters on the first export which i figured would be about right. And in game it matched hancock near perfectly to its roof which is 343 meters there by  making it to short.
