Ah yes, SC3000 (or the Unlimited version that I got), was indeed a good game.

Quite interesting to hear that they plan to merge the sites together... however, does this mean that there might not be anymore Sim City games?

(As for the Wren Insurance building... There's a possibility... D: )

Now if EA will provide Simtrop SC4's secret source code...

Seriously, tho. As a lay observer, I have to give props to the folks on this site. That's a hell of an honor for what I thought was just a well-run fan site. Hat's off to Dirk, et al.

Well I don't think we can jump to that conclusion.. thse are both fellow fansites, like Simtropolis. sc3000.com and sc4ever.com just happened to be run by a Maxis employee. 3.gif

Actually, I have to make a slight correction to the building name. Maxis named the buildings using employee last names, at least for probably 99% of cases. Wren Insurance is named after an employee whose last name was Wren. My building is in there though, and it's named Weburg Apartments. That apartment complex doesn't show up too often in game, I think it's a medium or high density building, with lower land value. ;-)

You can imagine that me and the guy whose last name was Wren got confused by quite a few other Maxis folks! We got each others' e-mail, etc.

For the takeover, I'm really happy to see such great support for the merging. I look forward to working with ST on that in the next month or so.

Oh, man...if it weren't for sc3000.com, there would have never been a Condor Bay (because I downloaded its SC3K precursor from that site), and if it weren't for sc4ever.com, I'd've never found paletexan's cities which provided the foundation of everything I create in SC4.  Obviously, both sites are of extreme importance to the way I play the game, and to have the opportunity to preserve them like this is a huge deal for me.

By the way...what happens to the files hosted on those sites (the cities and such)?

It does show up quite often, actually. 4.gif Here's a pic, if anybody doesn't recognize the name:

Dropping by after many years (didn't post too often though) to congratulate Dirk & Wren on the peaceful transition 2.gif. I started posting at sc3k in 2001 & started here... I think within days of this site beginning.

As an occasional lurker on SC3000.com, I would say that this is a great idea. 1.gif  I learned so much about SC3K there, and I still do go back and play it once in a while.

WTG, Wren and Dirk.  It's refreshing to see a merger when for some time we have had the opposite in the Simcity fan community.  I'm happy to see some of my deathless prose regarding Sc3ku will remain deathless 17.gif

Whoa! That's amazing! Wren has been a member for over five years and only now made a first post.

I think it would be cool for the sites to be under the Simtropolis network. Viva a SimCity 2000 section?

~ COMING SOON! Exciting new projects! ~

According to my calculations Wren has been a member of Simtropolis for 1986 days.

His one post gives him a daily posting average of 0.0005035.

Wren... you would be most welcome to knock off some of those zeros after the point...   4.gif

Huston tileset, medium wealth, medium density, grows on 2x2 and 2x3 (and I think 3x2 aswell)

half my medium density&wealth area consits of it cuz I limited growth on huston tileset (even tho, as I learned later, huston and european tileset work well together)

EDIT2: Stage 5, to complete the list ^^

anyways, that's OT I guess...

I'd really love to see these 2 sites merged with the ST.

the ST has long grown out of the SC4+RH restrictions, especially when I look at the CitiesXL cooperation going on.

So why not taking a step towards history with these 2 other sites?

ooohhhh, and I got a great suggestion for the next trixie:

Wren, for being the most popular lurker ever :-)

EDIT: it seems like pictures get lost when you quote a post...
