I think that has to do with cached stuff, Google Chrome still has to remember that you haven't read those posts, yet.

Oh thank you very kindly... that works fine. It isn't on the "Profile" heading at the top of the page. I'll file that away for future use.

Well I had already searched the My Profile for the option, but since you mentioned it, I went back to check again... Either I'm blind or whatever, but I see no "My Posts" button.. Do you as a moderator have an option that standard users don' t have? I'm aware that on the DASHBOARD (not the profile) there is a button for my posts, but it is only 1 page and contains the last 10-15 posts only and is not paged..

That works fine.. don 't know how you did it though (unless you just constructed it).. I have used the advanced search and specified "search by author" and put my name in it..It said "no results". And of course on my "Dashboard" I can look at about the last 10 or 15 of my posts.. Looks fine, how is it available to the users?

Does google let me search by author? 4.gif

That's sad.. ST used to clearly have the best search function on the SC4 web

I used to be able to search for posts "authored by me" and search for the last X days.. this was very handy as I could check in to ST, take a quick look at my old posts and respond to any who had asked for followup, and respond as needed..> This function seems no longer to be available? Does the search function work at all anymore? Has it been disabled?

Oh, and using the "Google search" as some have suggested is silly.. lol.. I have no interest in the WWW, just ST...

I used the words "tutorial" and "terraform" as the ONLY words in a search and keep getting told I had "ignored words" like a, the, for, etc in my search and to try again.. ST used to have the best search on the web.. what's the deal now? Either that or I get some message (sorry I don't recall the details now since I haven't had it in a few days) about some server being "not available" or something like that even though I'm on ST and it seems to be working fine.

Click on your avatar next to one of your posts, and a window will pop up. At the very top of this window, just below the address bar and above your avatar you will see this: SC4BOY's User Profile (View Posts)

That is the link you want. (It's the same as the one beebs posted earlier)

It will be in the same place for anyone else's profile that you view as well.

No it doesn't. But go into your profile and at the very top there should be a "View Posts" button. Click that and voila. 9.gif

Hey guys. Sorry to interrupt any discussion, but I've got a problem. Here's the story: I can't add one user to the 'allow list'. It's simsamerica, and I can't add him to the Us Cjs football singup thread in Private Topics. I have added about 6 other users with no problems, but when I search simsamerica to put him in the allow list, he doesn't come up. Any idea what the issue is?

Your search contained ignored words, ignored words are words like a,and,to,between. Please re-construct your search without these ignored words.

Well I don't know where to post this problem, but
I am having trouble with the forums, when I click in the forums they don't seem to change And I don't see any new posts even my own sometimes, then a day later I have a look and i get the last 3 days of conversations that I could not see the day before. Is there something I have to do with my browser hear or something, it only seems to happen on this site. Even now the main forum page is showing last post I has being on the 29/9/09 when clearly there have been others after it.

That's most probably the result of the infamous Page Flip Bug, nothing to worry about. Just alter the 'Startpage' number by one, and you should end on the proper page.

Hey guys, I've got a slight problem myself.. As you can see, my dashboard/proflie thingy at the top is a little off kilter. I haven't played around too much trying to fix it, but I do know it only shows up in Firefox, everything is fine in Safari. Has anyone else encountered this?

No, but I'm not using a Mac. It could be a slight coding problem which Mac can't handle.

I've had things like that happen, but they go away as soon as I navigate to a new page or refresh the current one.

What it means is that your browser, your computer, your settings, the barometric pressure, the phase of the moon, and possibly sereral other unidentified factors are combining to cause the CSS to be rendered improperly. It happens. Just wait it out, it'll probably fix itself soon enough.2.gif

Duke, that might solve the problem, but it doesn't tell us what caused it. And finding the cause is the first step to finding a (definitive) solution.

It is indeed a Mac issue.  Every mac I have been on has had this problem.

The STEX downloads have their ups and downs.  Dirk has to pay out of his pocket for the bandwidth, which is extremely expensive.

Hmmm.. since I was shown this, I have been using it (since the old method doesn't work at all). In using it I find that I get "false author" reports. It almost always is to lengthy threads such as many of the "pinned" threads.. An example is I look at my "authored by" list and find "Lot Editor - Help" listed.. when I go to look at my "post" I find that I haven't posted in that thread since Nov 11, 2007!! Another is "RHW [Rural HighWay] Development Project" thread.. I have no idea when I last posted there..I went back 30 pages and found no post.. I'm sure I have posted SOMETIME.. but certainly not in recorded history 2.gif  There are many examples of this nature. How is that list ordered? I thought it would be in the "post date" order.. ie the most recent posts (by me, not by the thread start date)  first.. yet somehow it is getting tripped up by the long multipage threads.

There has been a lot of downtime lately, which I know annoys a lot of people.

But what I really came in here for was that I have a problem with the chat. I get an error message every time I try to open it, the one you get when you're not connected to the internet - it happens like 10 times, I have to refresh the page; and eventually it works. It's somewhat annoying, but I don't really have an explanation for it, and if anyone does or if anyone's had a similiar problem and knows how to fix it, I would really appreciate it.

The drop-down list of countries in "Your Forum Profile" is missing Montenegro.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

And why does that bother you? Though it is possibly just overlooked by Dirk. Oh well, making mistakes is human after all.

Don't know why it is like this, try using another browser. I guess some settings are wrong, either on ST's side, or yours.
