    Intro -- 3/1/09

Welllllllll this is my second attempt at a city journal. The St. Mary Metropolitan Statistical Area, or commonly known as the Greater St. Mary Area, is a soon-to-be developed thriving region. The main focal point will be Rose City.

    Lalala the region......

    intro_1.jpg

This is my first hand made region, and I am very pleased with how it turned out. 4.gif The region is made of four large city tiles. Rose City will be the uppermost right tile.

As you can see, water/rivers are the main focal point here, with hills and mountain type terrain to complement it.

The area soon to be known as Rose City.........

    intro_2.jpg

One of the two islands, or maybe both, will most likely end up being the central business district. The larger peninsula type thing will be where the majority of the Rose City residents reside.

The next update will be whenever. School is obviously a first priority, but I will try to update two or three times each week.

    Update 1 -- 3/3/09

    Small update, los siento!!

    6.jpg

This shows three of the neighborhoods in Rose City. Downtown will mostly be medium and high density commercial. Uptown and Midtown will be mostly medium density residential, maybe with some high rises.

    1.jpg

    4.jpg

The masterplanned downtown is pretty much complete. The transportation network has been finished. It is a grid with a combination of avenues, roads, and one ways. There is a subway, bus network, and light rail. The island is surrounded by a retaining wall. Between the wall and the grid will be a big park 9.gif

    3.jpg

    2.jpg

Close ups of the grid and light rail. You can see the two major subway hubs here.

    5.jpg

    Light rail stations.

There will be no highways in St. Mary! 4.gif The people will use mass transit. There will be a regional rail, which you will see in the next update.

Sorry this one was so small!

Looks very nice, great update!!! You look like your planning a very nice transit network, and I especially like the use of your sea walls!!! My only advice would be to press "control + x" and enter "tastyzots" before taking a picture. This will get rid of the power symbol above your train stations. Other than that everything looks great!!! Lookin forward to more!!!

    ComputerGuy890100 -- Thanks face-icon-small-smile.gifface-icon-small-smile.gif

Hawkeye9 -- Next time I have the power zots I will keep that in mind :] I had to do a little land tweaking so that the sea walls turned out right

SC4Poser-moser -- It is so much easier to plan everything out before instead of doing it after. I love the terrain in your cj

packersfan -- I'm hoping that it is going to look really good, too

    Update 2 -- 3/4/09

So a very, very small update. Just wanted to show some pics of the regional rail

Next update development in Rose City will begin.. 9.gif

    1.jpg

The path of the rail, in black of course.

The three surrounding cities have been named. To the west of Rose City is Bloomingdale. To the south, St. Augustine. And to the southwest, New Delisburg.

    2.jpg

The grand rail station in Rose City. This station is located on the border of Midtown. There is a second, smaller one on the south side.

    3.jpg

Location of the grand station in Rose City

    That's all! 9.gif

???: Does anyone know how to turn the grid off? I turned it on sometime the other day and I have no clue how to turn it off lol

This looks like it will turn out really nice. I like the map a lot. I understand the grid for downtown, and the roadways are laid well. It's a good pattern. But perhaps the terrain will prompt you for a bit of anti-grid? I am eager to see where you go with it. Good luck!

Very nice city planning! And with all those branching rivers, this is going to be very interesting to follow. Good work!
