I'll go with New York Jets over Buffalo on Thursday.

I gotta say I was hoping for some separation this week but you are still breathing right down on my neck Blade2k5 3.gif

The defense also seems to have gotten over that hump where they were choking late in games. The scores in the Washington game and the Giants game may have been very different, but the end game scenarios were very similar; Tony Romo leads scoring drive, Cowboys take the lead, defense must come up with one final stop. the second game it came through, the first it didn't.

I seriously believe that the Cowboys present the greatest threat to the Saints undefeated season over their final five games.

On another note, what the heck is going on with the schedule makers? It is like they are trying to perpetuate the lame persona of the Cowboys choking in December. Their December schedule is ridiculous; Giants on the road, Chargers at home, Saints on the road, Redskins on the road. So nobody bring up the December woes that the Cowbys have experienced in years past, this is a different team this year, and if they go through another rough month, it will be because of the schedule, not because they are "weak of heart"...quote>

if the falcons get it together they have chance to beat NO as well, depending in the falcons injury situation that is.

The Cowboys have a difficult scheduel remaining, I dont see them haveing too much a problem with the NY football giants, they havent been the same since Eli injured his foot. I see the charges as beatable in a close game.

The Saints? Geeze i just cant see us stoping that passing game.

    As Admiral Ackbar would say

"our DBs cant repell firepower of that magnitude"

Newman has been good so far but we have not played anyone even remotely as good as Brees this season.

We get the chargers before New Orleans so we can see how well we do against some who can fling the ball around.

To be honest, this is the best season I've ever had in the 20 years I've been doing this.  Whether or not I finish on top of the heap is not my main goal, but it would be icing on the cake.  I'm happy with my +56 above .50019.gif  If I hadn't lisyened to the so-called experts, I would have never picked STL and if I had know Roth wasn't stating for PIT, I wouldn't have picked them either...Oh well, we all make mistakes and then we move on18.gif

I do agree about our on-going battle for first is getting tight, who knows, maybe by the end of next week, we'll be tied2.gif

Oh and by the way, I wouldn't pick Dallas over NO if I were you...20.gif

I'm gonna jump right in this conversation. I was glad to see the Patriots get manhandled last night. Dynasties are boring. Zzzzzz. As for the game predictions, I assume it is alright if I start now. I haven't been spending much time on ST recently, so was unaware that this was going on. Anyways, here they go.

NY-J @ BUF (the lesser of two evils)

NE @ MIA (no Ronnie Brown...sorry Dolphins)

STL @ CHI (I almost picked the Rams considering how badly the Bears are playing)

NO @ WAS (Skins? Yea right)

PHI @ ATL (Will Matt Ryan play?)

TEN @ IND (Vince Young's magic run comes to an end)

    DEN @ KC (No comment)

HOU @ JAC (The Texans will come back strong after disappointing losses)

DET @ CIN (If only the Bengals would lose this one...)

TB @ CAR (The Panthers will win despite 348234823748734 Delhomme picks)

OAK @ PIT (I should pray for another Oakland win over AFC North)

SD @ CLE (Phillip Rivers vs. Brady Quinn? Hmm)

SF @ SEA (Not sure about this one)

DAL @ NY-G (If only they could both lose)

MIN @ ARZ (Arizona is a road team)

BAL @ GB (Gotta go with my Ravens)

    Enjoy!

    Never explain, never complain.

    quote>

Well, playing varsity football in front of actual crowds [as opposed to the mom and dad crowds of freshman/pop warner football] has really changed the way I 've viewed being a fan. If you all remember 2007 i used to be a real m***** and brag about the pats, talk a lot of trash...and that is all fun when its done in good spirit. But i've really come to realize that people who maliciously talk trash and act like they are the coolest thing ever because of their football team are just idiots. Having actually gone through the hard work and the struggle it takes to be a team, nearly all athletes have tremendous respect for the losing team at the end of the game. You always hear things like "You guys played incredibly tough" "One of the best teams we've faced" in the handshake lines, never any sore losing, sore winning, or flat out nonsense. Then the fans will come in who are really just drunk students, and they will be screaming at the losing team, taunting, etc.... but really it doesn't bug you at all because they honestly have no authority to do so since they didn't lift, run, practice, or play with the team....they just sat in the stands and watched, then tried to act superior because the group of people they root for beat the other team.

On that note, we did lose last night, we went up against undefeated, 4th in the state Gloucester. Nobody picked us to win, none of the "Coin-toss" penalties seemed to go our way, and we didn't even get to do our proper warm up because our 2 hour bus ride [as opposed to 15 minutes for the other team, neutral site, good joke...] got stuck in traffic. Yet we still were on top 21-14 at halftime, and led until 1:23 left in the fourth quarter, when the other team went up by 6....rough loss but an incredible season, the even harder part is to know that i'll never get to spend another day with the most successful team in my schools history. I'll try not to think that I was 1 minute 23 seconds away from playing at Gillette Stadium....

The outlook for next year is good though, like this year, the senior and junior classes will match up well, with the weaknesses in the senior class being the strengths in the junior class. If the junior linemen for next year can add some good muscle, we should have another shot at it.

My high school has been one of the top ranked teams in the state all year, although I havent gotten to see them play in person, only on tv a couple of times. Last year we were one game away from state and lost in the closing minutes as well, so you have my sympathies Kryptowhite. On a personal level, I was on the track team, which I passionately enjoyed, and made it my goal to make it to state last year. I made it to regionals, but I missed qualifying for the state meet by 1.53 seconds. Upsets me to think about it, but I still can look back and be proud of my accomplishments.

^ That's rough [both stories]. Especially since your high school is in Texas....the capital of high school football 3.gif. I'm curious, is it really like Friday Night Lights portrays it? Friday Night Lights may have inspired me more than any other movie i've ever seen...the ending always kills me even though I know its coming, somehow i make myself believe they can win 3.gif

The moive took artistic licience to a new level. Midland-Odessa is in  the middle of west texas knowere, High School football is the only local sports they have they take it very seriously theres  a lot of pressure on those kids.

You also need to remember that book/movie was about Odesa Perminan in the 80's after they had won  i think 4 of 5 state champion ships, back when there were not several levels of Class 5A playoffs in Texas and only the district champions made the playoffs, in some cases one loss during the season and you didnt make the playoffs, its eaiser to make playoffs nowadays i think the last few years there have been teams with losing records that make it.

What part of Cali do you live?  I attended Santa Barbara High School in Santa Barbara Ca. from '80-'82 back when a certain quarterback by the name of Randall Cunningham [little bro to Sam 'The Bam' Cunningham] who took us to a 13-0 record before we were crushed by Long Beach Poly for the State Championship in the 80-81 school year....I haven't herad the CIF mentioned in probably more than a quarter century...

Anyways, here's my pick for tonights game...

O Greekman, i missed read your post of "One game away" as meaning you lost within one game like we did 3.gif Well good luck with the rest of your season!

Shady, as a sophomore i am 5'10", i'm listed at 165 although in reality im 145 and at the moment i'm only 140 cause i've lost a few pounds from football [i'll gain it back in a second haha]. I actually don't want to grow more than two inches in the next two years because for a safety its best to be right around 5'11" 6'0" so you can pack a good punch when you hit. Tall lanky kids never hit good lol. I'm aiming at 160-165 for weight next year, which is pretty likely since i gain about 20 naturally every year and i'm lifting a lot.

The reason I asked is because you don't post your pics late on a regular basis week after week.  Sometimes people are just damn busy all the time and things like this happen.  So there is still a chance your pics will count2.gif

Yea i don't really care, i was almost late myself because the site took a minute to post my picks. Well, I was right that an undefeated would struggle, i just picked the wrong one. Indy rolling right now but New Orleans struggling against Washington!

I'm amazed how Indy continues to win, they've looked mediocre in over half there games. Of course, its better than looking great one day and awful the next, like the patriots have. Patriots themselves are looking like they will win, but not impressive considering the oponent. But thats just kind of the team they've become, I definetely think they are in a rebuilding mode not only long term but also short term, they really need to reload and get some momentum for the playoffs this month. Tom has started great as has Maroney/Morris, i really like where the run game is headed. The 2007 Patriots were perhaps the breaking-out party of the Inflated Passing Statistics Era [the last 5-6 years], maybe they will be at the front of the return of the run game, Our offense right now is three plays...Maroney off tackle, Welker screen, Moss deep pass.

Other thoughts: Tampa looking to be a good pick by me, trailing 10-6 at the half but 6 unanswered. Tennessee a horrible pick by me AGAIN against Indy. My hate for Indy has singlehandidly killed my picking season, otherwise i would be in first place right now. Houston/Jacksonville, two of the most difficult teams to read, showing why, Jacksonville up 20-7.
