Lucky7 - I'm definitely not going to rush it. I get burnt out when I obsess over anything. But thanks, I'm definitely in it for the long haul. The road map isn't even a 10th of the way done.

Mr. Beer - Thanks! I make a backup of it about every week. I lost it once, not going to do it again.

packersfan - That's sort of funny. I have tried to recreate Milwaukee a time or two but failed as well.

Jim T. - Thanks man, but what were you doing on holiday in OHIO? lol I could think of a million places I'd rather be on vacation.

mal7798 - Good to see another Columbusite here. I wish Columbus had beaches.

    jacqulina - Thanks!

mayorbk - Glad you like it44.gif

Still no update in the game. I took a couple days off from this. I have worked some more on my map. I've moved out towards Pickerington, Canal Winchester, Groveport and Rickenbacker AFB.

AEP is at Long & Marconi. And unless someone else makes it, I will probably just use a similar looking building. I retired from batting.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to check in and give some updates on the status of the project.

I was planning on working on this this summer, but I am taking summer classes instead so I can start my Bachelors program this fall. I will still spend some time on it, but not as much.

About the region, unfortunately I have had to cut out a lot of the land around the city due to the sheer size of the region. Which means that there will be no Johnstown, Pataskala, Carroll, West Jefferson, etc. The whole thing just got too heavy for my computer to handle.

    More to come.

Looks pretty well done so far! I've visited my cousin at the OSU campus, it was pretty big compared to where I'm from. (Teeny Tiny Wakita, Oklahoma). I'll keep checking out the progress here on this amazing looking City Journal!

    Good Luck,

Wakita_OK_Boy - Thanks! Yes, OSU is very large, and the campus is even larger. It will definitely be a challenge to find suitable school buildings.

PhatHead - Kinda funny, a boot sector vuris found its way on here noit too long ago. Was able to nip it early before it screwed up anything.

MR.X.1 - That's how you make an angled road in SC4. I'm not a big fan of the FAR due to it's limited capabilities so I usually go the old fashioned route.

Hey everyone, long time no see.

I know that a few people have wondered what's going on with this project. I want to tell everyone first hand that it's not dead. As a matter of fact, it's not even close to being dead, as Columbus v2 has been in the works.

As I was building the network, I was really unhappy with the way I did my map. Every road was on an angle, which meant that every road had the stair stepping deal.

So I decided to go back to the drawing board and start from scratch......again.

I got my map from Google, and turned it at an angle as to where a majority of the roads will be able to built orthogonally. Not only will it make the city look better, but it will also save me tons of time in measuring and crunching numbers.

Another issue I addressed when remaking the map, was to make sure that large building complexes and highway interchanges did not overlap onto two different city tiles, which in turn makes it easier for me to build. Instead of using all large city tiles, I used a combination of large, medium and small tiles. That means fewer interchanges spanning two (or three or four) city tiles.

Hey everyone, here is a long awaited update....and yes, it shows actual development! That is if you count boring suburban sprawl as development9.gif

    So here we go.............................

We take a look at the area north of Pickerington, Ohio. Most of it is just boring upper-middle class suburban sprawl, which is obviously a good place to start building.

    Here is an aerial:

You can see that some of the houses are so new, they aren't even on the map.

1.3 Existing neighborhood just east of NW Milnor Road.

1.4 Manmade ponds at the entrance of the new suburban development. Makes the area look so much "better", doesn't it? 9.gif

1.5 Random Strip Mall at the corner of Milnor and Refugee.

    What do you guys think?
