Of course, it's as great as always. Everything ahead seems very interesting.

Like lots of other people, I wonder what the mystery bulding is.

    This will be a larger update of four municipalities and it will be done in two parts, but uploaded almost at the same time. (too big for my 56K connection in one piece)

    We will visit now the upper (northern) middle townships of Round Lake Junction, Birdsview, Hawklyn Valley (former West Axis) and Grand Dam , now the sixth biggest City on Genesis and still growing.

    But first let's have a look at this part of the region in a little more details. East of these counties lie two of the biggest Cities of the Eastern part of this Region, Axis City and Axis South. Round Lake Junction and Hawklyn Valley are direct neighbors of these Mega Towns, but both have certain restrictions on construction and City planning. Birdsview, a small town on the edge of the Ice Lake Plateau,is not the best place to live. Far from everything, it is generally 3 to 5 degrees colder than anywhere else. This is the place where the cold Mountain winds travel down to the Nexis Lakes to get heated up there by the warm waters.
    But Grand Dam, which has almost the same temperatures (only a little warmer) has grown into a solid City by now, and all this thanks to the biggest Hydroelectic dam ever constructed in the Urulian and Genesian history. All they are waiting for to get even bigger is the Highway 4 connection, which is supposed to be finished by the end of the year. Also the rails have been promissed to come in the next 4 years.
    01GrandDamRegionView.JPG
    On this transportation map, you see where the connection to the town of Grand Dam will be made and also, one missing link is still to be connected. This part was held up for the reason that the terrain had to solidified first, because the sandy soil seemed to be somewhat less solid to build on than everywhere else.
    Highway one comes from the North and goes directly to the South and highway 4 will go up to the Plateau to enter the City of Grand Dam, and maybe further later when needed.
    On can also see very clearly why Round Lake Junction bears its name here.
    02GrandDamRegionViewTraffic.JPG
    Round Lake Junction, one of my personal Favourites and certainly Joao's favourite, does not grow as much as one would expect. The reason is simple, City planning and construction laws are very different in this County and ithas somewhat very severe laws. I suppose that the people of Round Lake want to preserve their small town style-living.
    Once Joao Otavio's Race-way was installed,the small town became alive for awhile and Dr Evel had its Satrbucks built, some Motels and Hotels arrived and even a Casino was placed near the race-way for the pleasure of the tourist, who come to see the monthly quartermile races. Befor Otavio had this race-way built, folks were doing the races on the street, since Round Lake was the only place that didn't have any police and their offices are much too far to come here in time to catch the speed bandits. Now Mr Holmes has a small Security office in downtown of this town.
    ( sorry, I forgot to turn off the grid before taking the picture)
    1RoundLakeAllview.jpg
    A quick look at the *downtown* tells us all about the town, mostly souvenirs shops and Restaurants/Bars and Pubs.

    Companies and Landmarks: The Otavio Race-Ways...Round Lake Casino...Dr Evel's 13th Starbucks...
    jobs: mostly touristic and commercial, 967
    2RoundLakeDowntown.jpg
    This is the part of the town that attracts the tourists, the Race-way,the Casino/Hotel and of course Dr Evel's Starbucks. Here the races are allowed only once every month and that on the first Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM. People that live in this town do not mind the noises that these race-ways produce, as long as it is only once in a month during daytime. The Casino/Hotel is owned by the Regional Administration Office in Gloryville and its revenue is partially reinvested to keep the Round Lake in its natural state, where two big rivers meet, The Tenzel and the combination of both the Path and Ice rivers.
    3RoundLakeRaceway.jpg
    We haven't heard much of Birdsview, except when Rilian built his overground pipeline through this county, to bring the fresh Water from Grand Dam to Nexis City. Far from everything and much colder during all four seasons, the town is not the ideal place to live for everyone. Little has been done to attract more people also. It has the advantage though, that you can see over the whole Flatlands of Genesis's east.You see the bright nightlights of Axis,Axis South and even Gloryville, you can see the top of the Megantic Mountain in clouds every morning, you can see the sea and the icy Evermind Mountain.
    4Birdsview-Overview.jpg
    The downtown of this community consists of a 7Eleven store with a Gaz-station, a small town car dealer and 2 or 3 other commerces. No Motel, no pub, no nothing! The town has some industrial Manufacturing (upper right), a shoemaking facility,a precision Ball joint Company and a parts Division of the Nexis Electronics Inc.

    Population: 2025
    Celebrities: none
    Companies and Landmarks: a small division of Rilian Waterworks above ground piping...
    Jobs: 1335 industrial and some commercial.
    5Birdsview-Downtown.jpg
    Hawklyn Valley, formerly called West Axis,has its own town now. It started that more than 2 thirds of this county belonged to Adley Hawklyn and he started to hire a lot of people for his farms. Homes for the workers had to be built and since Adley didn't want to take care and be responsable for all the houses, he sold the land and the houses with it to the citizens. The Farms were growing bigger and bigger, so was the town, and by now we have a village of almost a thousand residents.
    Of course and we don't have to wonder why, Adley Hawklyn was legally elected the Mayor. He then right away after went to the Regional Administration Office in Gloryville to have a Highway build through his land to stop the ever growing traffic in his little town, from People who work in Axis City and live in Grand Dam. This is when Highway 4 was born. It will be finished by the end of the year, meaning another 4 months.
    Once being inondated by the Grand Dam river (Ice River), this valley is now back to normal, but Mr Hawklyn and also Miss Kitty Cat had their lesson about inondations and have built their domains up high on a hill, of course with a spectacular view of the Valley.
    6WestAxis-HighwayFinition.jpg
    Here we see the problem of the traffic that travels every morning from Grand Dam to Axis City and back every evening. If you live here in this town, it is recommended to stay in your home or backyard during rush-hours.
    7WestAxis-Traffic.jpg
    This is a general look at the small town, which used to be fields before. Most of these residents work here on the Hawklyn Valley farms, the experimental farm and some in Axis City and Grand Dam. This is pure country living and the livestock smell comes with it,so to say.

    Population: 960
    Celebrities: Adley Hawklyn and Miss Kitty Cat
    Companies and Landmarks: The Hawklyn Valley Farms...Genesis Experimental Farm...
    Jobs: mostly on the farms, 968
    8WestAxis-Downtown.jpg
    At the northern limits of the Hawklyn Farm is the gate to the Experimental Farms, where the Director is Miss Kitty Cat. Most of what's going on in these parts is not reveiled, but we know that botanical experimentations are on top of the list. Rumours say that even some animal experimentations have been done there....they say that biologists and scientists are fooling around with the DNA of living things.
    You need a pass from the Regional Administration Office to get through this checkpoint.And that pass is not easy to get at all.
    9WestAxis-Gate.jpg

    ...will be back in 10 minutes with the second half of the update,I'm uploading it right now...2.gif

    This is the second half of this update:

    And now we go on to Grand Dam, where the biggest construction site once impressed everyone. If you remember clearly, this was only a river in a small valley, until the bulldozers arrived and many thousand workers transformed the whole terrain , only to build the Dam that produces more than 90 % of all Electricity on Genesis. The Genesis Power Corporation is leaded by the CEO Mr Owen Shepherd. At one time this Corporation was to be sold to private owners, but at the last minute, the Regional Administration Office decided to keep it in their hands. The Dam's water comes from the Ice Lake region further north, where every year a melting of the snow and glaciers causes a massflow of water through these parts. With the dam , the water can be storaged and then used to produce clean energy. At this point , the water level is low, because of the late summer season we're in now (August). This is normal to have less water, but this year it is a little less than usual, but nothing to worry about, told us Owen Shepherd.
    The Tall observation Tower with its Highest Restaurant, was once the tallest building on Genesis, now overhauled many times, but still worthwhile visiting, because this is still the highest of them all, if you include the height of the terrain.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//10GrandDamFullCityView.jpg align=baseline>
    Downtown of Grand Dam has always been growing steadily, even with the absence of a highway and the rails. (which both are soon to come) Many folks took a liking to this town and installed either a Company,a store or a home here. Now downtown is busier than ever and many big Companies are installing themselves. Mr Night Law Offices and Rilian Waterworks have their Headquartes here.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//11GrandDamDowntown.jpg align=baseline>
    At the edge of this town live Mr Night and Owen Shepherd, close to the waters of the dam and not far from downtown. We also can see where the normal waterline is supposed to be.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//12GrandDamMansions.jpg align=baseline>
    A closer look at the midstown Offices, such as the Rlian Waterworks HQ and a new big Office building that is still under some construction.

    Population: 112,820
    Celebrities: Ownen Shepherd, the CEO of the Power Corporation...Mr Night from the Stormy Night Law Offices...
    Companies and Landmarks: The Grand Dam Welcome Statue...Gentleman's Country Clubhouse...Poer Corporation...the Dam itself...The Oservation Tower and the highest Restaurant on Genesis...Rilian Waterworks HQ...Stormy Night Law Offices HQ...Home of Mr Night...Home of Mr Shepherd...
    Jobs: 67,912
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//13GrandDamRilian.jpg align=baseline>
    The Dam itself is almost worthwhile to come and visit Grand Dam City. Then we have the welcome Statue on the peninsula, the power generators on the bottom of the Dam and of course the lake itself, which is quite a *natural* beauty.
    Floyd Enterprises on the bottom of the Dam were once completely under water during the great inondation and because it is producing soapbars, the river at that time had the soapy look down to the town of Tenzel Outlet.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//14GrandDamBarrage.jpg align=baseline>
    Since Owen Shepherd became the CEO of the Grand Dam Power Corporation, the semi weekly inspection of the dam became a must. Mr Shepherd saw what the inondation did, although at that time he told the fomer responsables what to do. Ever since he wants to make sure that no other inondation will happen again, and he even had Holmnes Security Offices given the job of surveying the Dam's and other installations's Security.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//15GrandDamDamInspection.jpg align=baseline>
    If you come to these parts of Genesis, you just have to stop by the Welcome statue on the peninsula and see this gigantic one piece carved solid Rock that the first Mayor of the City had ordered to be build.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//16GrandDamWelcome.jpg align=baseline>
    The Soapbar Manufactureres did not only produce soap, but also illegal Alcohol *Moonshine*. It started when the Company had financial problems after the great inondation and no insurance. Because of the machinery used to boil and make soapbars, the owners had the idea to produce alcohol, and sell it to the Gaburans, which gladly bought every drop they had. The Company was back in business, producing soapbars and,... moonshine. Hm... that couldn't  have lasted, and all of sudden rumours appeared that they did illegal production in these Manufacturing premisses. Holmes Security started an investigation and it wasn't too long that a courtorder was demanded to have a closer look at the shops.
    They found thousands of Gallons and barrils of illegal Alcohol and many

    I had no idea GD was so large.

    One thing: if you had wanted your place to be a touch more realistic, you would have bulldozed all the trees below the normal water line. But otherwise, , pretty good!

    Great job, and if downtown of Grand Dam is still growing without any highway or rails, how much do you think it will grow when they are built? Downtown Grand Dam just looks so nice, especially at night, and I like the building with the red lights on it. I wish that I could come and visit the city, but there is nothing in New Chicago or the surrounding area that can get to Genesis. Good luck on building the highway!

    Hey, Thanks for all the comments.

    slayerovsims: I tried the terrain conforming walls, but the walls of the dam are too steep I guess. I just might redo the walls a little less steeper in an update, and then use these lots.

    The Evil Octopus Man: Don't worry, you will get some of these Bats soon on the STEX. Those which I don't upload, just pm me with a note which one you want with your e-mail address and I'll send it to you. ( that goes for everyone)

    timotheus: Yes I relized that too, but the pics were already uploaded, too bad. Next time I won't forget.....lol

    Leech10, who knows, maybe New Chicago will find a way sometime to travel to Genesis. Thanks.

    Be back either on Monday or Tuesday with the next update.
    Meanwhile have a look at my BATs that I will upload soon:

    Ya, I noticed that the walls didnt work after a certain steepness also....

    Maybe instead of re-doing the dam, you could ask Jeronij to make a special wall just for you?49.gif

    I don't think that it is possible to make a lot that goes on a steep wall like this, unless I get a Rock mod, but then all the rocks in the region will have it.
    Too bad though.......15.gif

    When talking about dams, I'm just about to try out a dam i found on a Japanese site. I can post a screenshot when I've tried it out if you want me too. Nice update, I got a little Twin Peaks/Silent Hill feel from Birdsview, you should put the new mill in there!!

    Actually, I think that if you found out the degree of the inclination of the dam, you could BAT a wall to cover it, render times would be very large, but if you made it a prop that is as tall as the wall and with a similar inclination, and plopped it beside the cliff, it perhaps would work...
    If you don't get my idea, send me a PM and I will (try) to give further instructions31.gif
    By the way, very nice update, such macro-updates about half of the cities on the region are quite a headache to do, and even worse on a 56k... I salute you for your dedication!16.gif

    skallben, yeah , I got that Japanese dam also, and I will use it in a future county that I am planning out in the west. For Grand Dam I will keep the dam that I have.
    pansarkatt, glad you like hearing about Hawklyn Valley
    J.O. thanks for the idea, but too complicated and not enough free time.wHy don't you find out a way to make covergrounds for these natural walls. Didn't Peg once do something like this with a waterfall?Wondering....This upload below will be horrible for my 56K connection J.O.23.gif

    newyorkrunaway,thanks,keep on coming back.
    cowcorn,thanks for dropping in for me, I am late though....temps are beautiful in the last few days that I have done a lot of stuff outdoors.
    slayerovsims...lol...many things keep a man busy21.gif, and don't worry about the dam in Grand Dam, I just leave like it is.

    Let's continue with our updated *Tour of Genesis*.

    These are the last known Townships of the North-West,Ice Lake,Grand Falls,Lichen,Cold Valley and Belding. Bury's Pass has been named , but no road has yet reached this Hidden Valley County.
    These parts of the Genesis Region are generally of cold temperature, which have their cold downwinds through Grand Falls and Cold Valley. Ice Lake is the Main Water producer of Genesis, where all of the Grand Dam water comes from. This township has snowstorms almost 8 months a year and total accumulation of more than 12 meters/year. It melts every spring and will make rivers swell to their max everytime. From Ice Lake to the Canyon in Grand Falls and then into the Ganoga Valley (also known as either the Deep Lake Valley or the Canyon Lake Valley).Plus underground ,Ice lake has formed a tunnel to Lichen,where it appears just under the Cliff and through the Ice river to the Dam in Grand Dam.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//1GenesisIV-Lichenregion.JPG align=baseline>
    The traffic view reveils that the north-west does not have much of a transportation system. Roads that start in either Grand Dam or Birdsview end up somewhere in the wilderness. No trains and no highway yet in this area.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//2GenesisIV-LichenregionTraffic.JPG align=baseline>
    The first county we will visit and make sure not to stay too long (very cold) is Ice Lake. No road has been built yet to go to the lake directly, but a road in the lower part of the township, crosses the whole county. The grand Falls river is one of the deepest rivers around and Lyll Nexis,Vallen's daughter and owner of the Nexis Bridges and Railroads, has had a very hard time to build a bridge on this difficult terrain and with this harsh environment. Even one of the workers, probably freezing like anything, lost balance and fell into the icecold river. Death followed within seconds.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//3IceLake-Overlook.jpg align=baseline>
    It is amazing that still some sort of life exists in this land of 8 months of winter. The bridge was built out of a plastic like material, called Raflon, so it can withstand the temperatures and conditions of this environment. Raflon is made by the Tiel Oil Company in New Sholes and was commonly used on Uru for high mountain bridges and other constructions.- I don't think that anyone would like to live here,therefor a civilization will probably be never seen.

    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//4IceLake-Bridge.jpg align=baseline>
    Lichen is not much better than Ice Lake, although some people live here. It is a little warmer and has one month less snow than its western neighbor. In this County the Ice River is born below the cliffs, which has a tunnel back to the Ice Lake. You can clearly see that the tunnel used to be longer, but now caved in , it has become an open air river, which sends its cold water to Grand Dam.

    Here in Lichen once the LBST was brightening the nights, when it was malfunctioning, but after Joao Otavio has figured out why, it was repaired and only left a hole in the ground. Most of the people that live here are scientists,Laboratory helpers and Biologists that work in the Science Center in Grand Falls and in the Ganoga Valley. Others work here or in the neighboring Power Station.
    The only action that can be found here is the *Drink and Fall* competition that is held every first Saturady of the month in Otto's Bar. The last one that falls under the table during this drinking contest, wins the competition and gets a whole night of free drinks the week after.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//6Lichen-Village.jpg align=baseline>
    The road that goes through Lichen surprizingly holds a lot of traffic in the morning and night. Workers go to and come from work in Lichen's southern neighbor's newly built Power Station and go back home to Grand Dam.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//7Lichen-Traffic.jpg align=baseline>
    Grand Falls is still owned mostly by Jim, from Jim's Construction. He had a road built that leads down to the Ganoga Valley and allows Scientists and Biologists to visit the valley.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//8GrandFalls-Overview.jpg align=baseline>
    Just above the highest point of the cliff to view the whole Ganoga Valley, a construction site appeared on Jim's private land. Now exactly what it is they're building ,I don't know, but it seems to be big. It is Jim himself who works here with a dozen of his helpers and his two sons, now in the early twenties,Kegan and Sam. Most of Jim's Construction *Army* is all over the place to meet the needs of residential buildings on Genesis, while Urulians are invading this region by the thousands these days.
    The road on the left comes from the science Center and leads down to the bottom of the valley, where the scientists study this amazing and different Ecosystem.

    Population: Sometimes up to a dozen, when some scientists sleep over in the Center. Besides that, none.

    The falls are about to dry out in this month of August and start swelling again in late June, when Spring arrives in Ice Lake.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//10GrandFallsFalls.jpg align=baseline>
    Cold Valley, so called because of the cold winds that come from Ice Lake, has build a Power Station, far from the towns, mostly to protect their existance. Some people live here all year round since many years now, in the little warmer lower valley.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//11ColdValleyOverlook.jpg align=baseline>
    The Nu-Power Corporation, owned by the Sirius Group, is of Nuclear Power. One reason, why it was decided by Owen Shepherd, the CEO of the Grand Dam Power and Genesis Energy Department, to built it here, far from civilization. This Power plant is still under construction and won't be ready for an experimental start-up for another year. Powerlines will be built to Grand Dam, which will then there be separated into the different regions.

    Here we have a outlay of the different temperatures that this special county has. Icy winds from Ice Lake come down the valley in two strands, one slightly warmer (left) than the other (right) ,and make all kinds of average temperatures down in the valley during the month of May. Temperatures are in Degree Celsius.(metric)

    Belding is where the waterpipelines from Nexis and Grand Dam met some time ago and we all witnessed the celebration. Rilian Waterworks started to hire some people here to survey then water-run between the two Stations. Now a small village has formed in this Tenzel River Valley and more and more citizens are coming in every month.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//14Belding-overview.jpg align=baseline>
    It all started when Rilian Waterworks had the conection made, to bring the water from Grand Dam to the rest of the world, mainly Nexis City, where his Main Waterstation is. Here is exactly the middle of this long piping system, sometimes underground and sometimes above ground, like in Birdsview. The Station was made to survey the entire piping from here, hiring half a dozen of workers.
    Then Tim Chula arrived with his logging Company and what do you know, all of sudden we had people moving in and starting a small village.
    It was decided by the Rulers themselves to dedicate a Statue of the Builder of this pipeline,Rilian, since now the whole region can benefit from it. Rilian was named *the Man of the year* also.

    Other News: Mr Vegetable from the Mr Vegetable and Co,architects and TownPlanners and also the responsable of the designing of Axis City and Axis Harbour, died this morning in the General Hospital in Nexis City from a snake bite. While on a picnic with soem friends in  the outer nature of the far western part of Genesis and while dreaming to maybe  start a City in this area, Mr Vegetable got bitten by one of the most venimous snakes on Genesis. Because the distance he was too far from a hospital, he never made it alive. ASt the age of only 52 years , Mr Vegetable does not leave a family behind, since he never got married. His Company was given to his Co-Workers, which will continue its existance. Let's have a moment of silence in his honour.

    Another severe Accident was reported this morning, as a small boy of only 7 years old, named Shane Boxx,was run over by a departing airplane on a small airport in Axis South. Because of his fascination of airplanes he entered the fenced in area to see the planes up closer, while a departing small airplane hit the young boy on the airstrip. The Boy was unconscious for quite awhile and was then transported to the Axis City Hospital, where it was confirmed that the boy will easily survive this incidence. What an experience!

    Joao Otavio announced today from his space ship in the Opall vicinity, that the second landing on Opall will be in a week. Vatt's idea for the ship to land safely has been proven and so it will be experimented with a unmanned and distant-controlled ship.

    Evermind is back home and enjoying family life again with her husband and twins. But she already is talking about going back to work in Atlas to make a next generation of Space Stations.

    Back soon with more township-updates..............and news.

    We still have to visit Axis Harbour,Syris,Tenzel Outlet, Oxalis/Megantic,Gloryville in the east and then go south to Bass Bay,New Dice,Kate Springs and Moose Bone, and then back to the middle-west of Nexis Islands, Nexis City,Cedar Bay and Unforgiven. Then the second generation will have reached the approximate age of 16, where I start bringing them into the story more often.2.gif
