    Problems in the Capitol City

It all started last week actually, when the Tv news were talking about an expansion development plan right into the Natural Park Reserve. The Barby/White Park Society went to full alarm. It took only a few hours and every member of this association was informed about the plans that the City has in mind. (1,634 members at the moment)
First let me say something about the history of the Park: When Gloryville was established almost 100 years ago, it was promissed by the new Mayor and the First Ruler at that time, that the small round lake and the area beyond will never be developed. So it was written in the book of Genesis. The Book of Law and agreements. Some 35 years later, a strip of land around the small round lake was opened to become the residences for the higher Society. Already then some people were demonstrating against the idea, but after a few days, everything was forgotten and then they built mansions and villas around the small lake. Some 20 years ago, Miss Barby and Elizabeth White have founded an Society that would take care of the Parklands here and all over Genesis. Once Barby and Elizabeth died,a part of their fortune went into the Association's fundings and members started coming. Vallen Nexis , the Bilionaire from Nexis City, was one of the first members with a contribution of several thousand simoleons, which were offered to the Society, mostly to restore and conserve the fragile beauty of this Park here in Gloryville. Fifteen years ago the counsel in Gloryville decided to contour the park with residential zoning. Although they never entered the park itself, they were built right on top of the borderline abnd some even think that it is a matter of a meter or two that was stolen. Then the Society decided to have a 12 foot fence to be build around the whole park to prevent any curious people from going in and take out plants and wildlife or even destroy parts of the park by just wandering around and a road that separates it was constructed. Here only Park attendants and some others are allowed to take that road.
Now, only a few weeks ago, some of the Gloryville big business men decided to approach the counsel with a new plan to develop the park with residential zones, which are so much demanded right now in Gloryville. Many very rich immigrants from Uru have offered a big price to those who agree with the opening of the zonings. The plan is on the picture below.- Finally these businessmen convinced the counsel members to do so and open the land (46% of the park) for development. The Park belongs to the City counsel only, I may add.
That was too much for the Park Society and the members, other organizations, associations and even students (including our Nick Ranly) and within a day the City became furious and angry. It was subject number one in every restaurant, barberstore and on every parkbench.

    1Gloryville-Parkview.jpg

It all started here at the City Hall of Gloryville, with some demonstrators and soon , many public services were on strike. One followed the other, when no reaction of the City Hall was observed. All of sudden many people from other counties and townships came to the Capitol City to join the Park Society demand to save the park.

    2Gloryville-StrikeHoteldeVille.jpg

Then some Strikers and Demonstrators were observed in the area of the rich society, where those businessmen live, that decided the plan ahead and destroy half of the park. Holmes Security saw something big coming and asked the Police office in Tenzel Outlet to join their forces, if this gets out of hand just in case. Ha, soon even more people, strikers and demonstrators , from other cities came in, and schools in Axis South and Gloryville were closed, so were all, and I mean all the railservices. Man, imagine , no more trains to go to work. What a mess it became on the roads and streets of Tenzel, Gloryville and Bolton.

    3Gloryville-Strikericharea.jpg

Here the park was invaded by demonstrators. The Security services were to few to be able to stop them. Police in Tenzel was called to help, but it didn't change much, too many demostrators and strikers.

    4Gloryville-StrikePark.jpg

The worst was on day 4 in the hi-wealth zones near the parkland, even the police and the Holmes Security Services became helpless and Col. A.Hunn in Atlas was informed about the situation, a probable need to get the army to help out. It was on day fourth, near suppertime that more than 50,000 people were striking or demonstrating all over Gloryville.

    5Gloryville-Strike2.jpg

The High Society folks were too scared to leave their homes or Appartments. That is when some of the influentual people and the Rulers came in and announced a General Meeting the next day of the Park Society, the general population, the City counsel and the Ruler's Administration Office. This was announced on Public television and Radio and it was Vallen Nexis, the Grand Ruler himself to ask the people to calm down and that it will be discussed over and decided in a democratic matter what will be with the park situation. The streets calmed down for the night. Even the dogs stopped barking.

    6Gloryville-Strike1.jpg

Here is what the population of Gloryville is afraid of. The former airport in Gloryville was destroyed, now that the International airport in White Sands took over, and within weeks the empty area was filled with homes of all sorts. That would probably happen with the parkland also, they think. It was necessary, but awful to see for some, how fast people can change the landscape. Scary it was.

    7Gloryville-FormerAirport.jpg

Here is a ace card that the Park society has , the waterhole, the ONLY waterhole in this park, where 90% of all the wildlife comes to still their thirst, and this is right in the middle of where the counsel wants to develop. The Asscociation mentioned that if we let this water disappear, all the life in the park will more or less move or die out. Good Point!

    8GloryvillePond.JPG

All these facts were brought in front of the Rulers at the meeting, who overruled the Gloryville counsel and took the authority of the parkland, first thing to do to calm down the population before it really gets out of hand and becomes a revolution. The situation was studied and the 13 Rulers, counsel members and the responsables of the Parkland Society discussed this fragile environmental situation thoroughly and they came to a satisfied agreement between the three groups. It was decided that the plans were cancelled and a new investigation of the situation in Gloryville will be taken.

    9Gloryville-assembly.jpg

Then New plans of development were made and agreed on, under the condition that the new Parkland now goes into the hands of the Society, meaning they will become the only owners of the park. The park will be cut by the road that separates it and 34 % only will go for development and that for the last time in the futur history of this park. The rest is now the Barby/White Parkland Society's property and it cannot be overuled by the City counsel anymore. All the major factors of the park will stay alive and the society also has one year to transplant or gather wildlife from the residential zones to the park. A new fence will be build, which both parties, the City and the Society will finance.
This was written in the Book of Gloryville and signed by the First Ruler Vallen Nexis, the Mayor Harry Watton and the President of the Barby/White parkland Society, on this 23rd day of October in the year of 24 BN.

    10Gloryville-Parkviewfin.jpg

Let's change the subject now that the population has calmed down and the public services are back to almost normal. Julius Nicomedia finally found a partime job to his liking. He did not work all summer long, but hanged around here and there. Now that he is back in school, (college that is) he will be working on saturdays in this little medical research facility, he will be classing, organizing and double verifying the results of medicinal research. It pays good and ain't far from his home and College and he seems to have liked his first day of work.

    11Gloryville-newwork.jpg

A last look of Gloryville peaceful mini harbour, just neighboring the Plaisance harbour near downtown.

    12Gloryville-ferry.jpg

For those who are interested. A small earthquake was registered in Grand Dam yesterday, no damages reported. Also a rise of the Nexis lake of 2.2 inches (approx7cm) was recorded for last summers lake levels.

That was it again, what an adventure and gladly it worked out for everyone.(It came close to become a real mess though, right?)31.gif

19.gifThis'll take me ages to browse through, but jsut by looking at the last few pages, ur cj has hit my top five.  No.1 all the way.  Great work! I love the stories - It's gonna take me some time to get through them (I might give up - but I'll come back for more!).

Looks good, but why are they still building in the park?

Near the bottom, it says Nick Ranly got a job at a medical research center, but the pictures says Julius Nicomedia works there.42.gif

The rulers, the Counsel of Gloryville and the Directors of the Park Conservation Association have all agreed for this part of the city to open up for development. Nothing I or you can do screamomatic. The decision was made with agreement of all.

I know, it doesn't seem right for some, but the City needs the room for expansion very badly, Leech10.
Btw, sorry about the mistake in the paragraph, it was supposed to be Julius Nicomedia, and not Nick Ranly (I fixed it). That can happen when one has sooooooo much to think of...46.gif

Thanks helomoto, glad you enjoy the Lots and BATs.

nealos 101, where have you been when this CJ started?47.gif....lol... You don't have to read everything of the CJ to understand it, but look at the pics and read only here and there, that will give you a good idea what happened in the last 100 years on Genesis and Uru.

Glad you agree with the plans Adley.

Pretty cool (fishing, eh? wonder what's up there) the very last picture you posted looks really good. In the second to last one, do you see the road the brown sedan is going up? Seems a rather punishing grade to me. How did you get all those strikers?

timotheus, yeah that hill is steep alright, but not steep enough, since the fellow in the wheelchair, just beside the brown sedan, made it up the hill.

Strikers I have made by building a few schools around the area and then cut off the budget2.gif.....lol ( I have schools/police/firestation/hospitals/trainstations/powerunits and waterpumps that look like regular houses, so I can use them everywhere without showing them)

Great work Mr.B! I have to say, this CJ still remains supreme even with excellent competition all over ST. Keep doing what you're doing, and pretty soon, you'll be at 100 pages and 100,000 views!

Nice update MrB. I see how Gloryville has grown so much and needs the room for expansion. I am sure it was a difficult decision for the counsel.
I noticed your use of both the male and female Mayor Statues together. Nice touch!
As always-Have a great day everyone!

I've never checked out this CJ before, and I have to say it's right up there with Jeroni's.  Incredible terraforming and attention to detail in your cities, and the stories are very engaging!  Very entertaining and keep up the great work!

...wow...Thanks for all the nice comments1.gif and a warm welcome to the Newcomers, hope you enjoy your stay.2.gif

First, some news from the Space Station Nexis One, that is orbiting the outer space of Genesis. Last night the permanent team abord the station has made an imortant discovery of the Giant Meteor Opall. As we all know , the meteor pulls along a very large mass of space dust, and some of it is hitting Solaris at the moment, which is quite spectacular to see, as if the star is sparkling, while millions of small particles hit the sun. But bad news are that some of that dust is traveling to the planet Verto,Corus and even later Genesis. Dangerous for this last planet? We don't exactly know yet. It is still considered as dust, but dust can be big, if we see it from a small planet such as Genesis. How big we will find out in a few months.
Miss Evermind Wellwisher was called in to the Ground control as soon as the discovery was made and a newsteam rushed to Atlas, to get more details. Although most of the information was kept secret (as always), some of this slipped through and all Tv and Media Stations were talking about it all day.
Miss Evermind will send a probe, almost the twin of Forscher1 , to that space where the dust comes from.

11 of the 17 Space shuttles that transport the immigrants from Uru since several years have also arrived this morning , bringing us almost 3,500 newcomers. Along them is a fellow in the name of Christopher, and that is all we know about him. He was stashed away in a container, transporting food from Uru in one of the Spaceships. 16 years old and probably a runaway. Once I find out who and what he is doing , we will get back to him.

Forscher 1 , the nexian probe to the new solar system, is just about two thirds through the Sunless (or Starless) system and already sending in some pictures from the new solar system on the other side. We will get to see some of these pictures as soon as they have given it free. You know how it is with every government, always hiding something....

Kevin Slayer, from Slayer Inc, is back home from the hospital, some have said that he had a liver attack or something, nothing really serious though. On arival in his Supermansion,(which by the way is about to become a touristic attraction, with all the people coming to see this Exagerated Villa, which has some 40 bedrooms), he jumped into his Mega swimmingpool and swam a couple of laps.

Ok, with all these immigrants arriving by the thousands ,either by the LBST system or by spacebuses, a lot of residential zoning has been done lately and construction never has been so busy before.
Here on this region map we can see all the different places that will be populated within the next few months, 7 counties will receive approximately 150,000 immigrants. Some of these are the newly founded community of Raging River Junction (north of Grounhog Springs),Round Lake Junction, Axis City on both sides, east and west,Bolton as we already saw before and Three Towers and Nintendon, which we will visit much later.
Even from this Region view one can easily see some of the developments to come.
A big plan for temporary housing in Raging River also has been planned and some even say that it is about to finish soon. I will have a look at it and the next time I will show you some pics. Here almost 30,000 people can be placed temporarily, while they are waiting for their homes and appartments.

    1GenesisRegionDevelopments.JPG

The development has already started in some cities and is even very advanced, like here in Axis City on the northern bounds. All this land we see here, was once a prairie with some wooded spots...

    2AxisNewDevelop.jpg

...and on the eastern side it is still in the planning, although more than 40 Construction Companies have already been informed to be ready next week for the mass construction of Residential buildings. Only Axis City itself received a demand for almost 40,000 immigrants. Will this put the City back into second place of the population, as it used to be?
Roads have been layed, electricity is connected and the waterpipes from Rilian Waterworks have been layed. Razor Blade Logging Company from Treeland and the Tim Chula Wood Industries in Moosebone are working 24 hours a day on cutting and drying construction woods. So are the Slayer Inc Company ,which make all kinds of things necessary for the building of a home (like from electrical wiring to an aluminum window frame)and the MacVicar Mines together with Smurfer steel, who make the tin roofing and the steel beams for bigger constructtions. In other words , everyone is busy, busy, busy on Genesis.

    3Axis%20Ctr-development.jpg

It was noon yesterday when  the little daredevil Jasen McLary was arrested for having driven a car without a licence and causing an accident, at the age of 16 years old. He was released later that day and has to present himself to the Juvenile court next month. His mother's car was only slightly damaged and no one was hurt. Funny, at the same time someone in a white van having seen the accident and all amazed of it did not look where he was going and it hit a Cement truck while exiting the trainstation.

    4AxisAccident.JPG

I am sorry to announce that Miss Kitty Cat from Hawklyn Valley died this morning at the age of 70 years old, and she will be burried in the Axis City cemetary of the First Axis Church. She leaves behind her twins and her husband Owen Mitton. She was well known in the community as the Bigtime Reseacher and the she became the chief of staff and later the General Director and then the CEO of the Hawklyn Valley Experimental Farm , starting in her thrirties. Miss Cat brought us the health pill form plants from the Megantic Mountain, that immprove almost any health a little and also the creamy coffee plant that Dr Evel was using (and still is) in his Starbucks Cafes. May she rest in peace and be remembered forever. Her twins will continue her work, and wwe still don't know what she was working on lately in the underground facility of the farm.

    5Axis%20Cemetary.jpg

While we leave Axis City now, let's just have a look at the nightview of the lesser populated part of the City.

    6Axis%20Ctr-Night.jpg

Axis South, once the second biggest City on Genesis, is now the fourth, after Gloryville on the first, Nexis City on the second and Axis City on the third. But that can be changed as the new mayor mentioned this morning's in the Daily News. Here also plans for residential zones have been accepted and are about to commence. A little less in size than in its neighbor Axis City, but here it will be more concentrated into Appartment blocks and Residential Hi-risers. The construction will also start next week and it will be on the east side of the City towards its neighbor of Round Lake Junction. The Hawklyn Valley farms close to downtown have been sold to the City and will soon be filled with residentential homes also. Mr Hawklyn and his son Caldwell, which is about to take over the farms, brewery and shopping malls, have been largely compensated for the loss of this excellent cultivated land. They received the triple amount of cleared land in Kate Springs and Obi, where their productions will continue.

    7Axis%20South-development.jpg

In Round Lake Junction, construction of the  residential sector on the other side of the lake has started some time ago and is going quite well. The land is being cleared by the Tim Chula Logging Company and  suddenly they were stopped by the Minister of Environment, as they approached a small swampy area. As Biologists have found out that this part should be kept in its original state, because of some rare frogspecies that is only abondant here in this tiny waterhole. Nowhere els on Genesis have they been seen in that quantity. The decision was made, a small Natural Park was born and the Barby/White Natural Park Society took over.( something that some businessmen don't like to much as we found out in Gloryville the last time)

    8Round%20Lake%20JunctionDevelopment.jpg

A close look at the swamp, but unluckily I could'nt find any frogs to photograph, but I saw a moose, common in these kind of swamps all over Genesis.

    9Round%20Lake%20Junction-Moose.jpg

Well, that's it again for awhile, hope you enjoyed this part also (sorry no new BATs this time15.gif...lol). I will not make another update for a couple of days and I am not sure if I make one this weekend, but certainly be back before next Tuesday. Mother's day is coming up and I have to (oh my) go visit my mother in law, on my wife's order.
Happy Mother's day for the mothers here on Simtrop.39.gif
