TOWNS by IDS2

Welcome to TOWNS! This is my 4th cj, and my best so far. I have improved since Candyland and after much procrastination, here it is!

TABLE OF CONTENTS (coming soon)

~UPDATE ONE: Auburn, Bluemount~

Picture 1: Auburn in the afternoon.

Bluemount is a region located in western Oregon along the Pacific Ocean. Auburn is the major tourist hub of the region, with its long beach and many hotels along the shoreline. This picture was taken at around 3:00 P.M., right before the sun's final rays began to fade.

Picture 2: Auburn at sunset.

Auburn is famous for its beautiful orange sunsets. To the left of the picture, you can see the many coral reefs that provide excellent snorkeling for locals and visitors alike.

This concludes update one! I hope you enjoyed Auburn. Next update: Auburn in midday and Downtown Olympia.

I'll start by promising to reply personally to all comments! Enjoy!

Wow. Nice effects on your pictures with the glare and sunset! And I can't wait to see more of the town.

That's a beautiful city, but if you want to enhance them in photoshop the right way, then let me know. :-P

Thanks for the replies, guys! This banner I have here has a picture from Celadon Valley, which you'll see later on.

    replybanner1wq9.jpg

SimHoTToDDy: Thank you! Flora is something that has been lacking from my previous journals, so I decided to use it heavily in this one.

Tyler26101: Thanks! I've been working on my Photoshop skills and I think I came up with something that won't blind you this time, unlike Kona Island in CANDYLAND 3.gif More of the town...you're in luck! Take a look below.

tahill79: Thanks! Those are by HKABT and I thought they made nice hotels...hehe.

Schulmanator: Thank you! I'm hoping this one will last  a bit longer. 9.gif

Zezug: Thanks! It was the only shiny building in the pic, so it had to be the one. 3.gif

Wishfulanthony: Thank you! My plugins folder is aching, but that's a price I'm willing to pay. 3.gif

Interchange: Thanks! And yeah, lol I need to practice some more. Thanks for the offer, I'll be sure to let you know! 9.gif

Thanks again to you all! Glad to hear there's interest. On to the update...

This update wil include more of Auburn and a teaser of Olympia. Let's take a look at the mosaic first...

This mosaic features the city of Auburn at midday, just before noon. Many fishermen can be seen around the coral reefs, specifically around the bridge supports where large schools of cod live. I apologize for the brightness...still gotta work on my Photoshopping!

Hope you like it! As you can tell I've been focusing on my suburbs, hope I succeeded!

Next up is a teaser of Olympia, the region's capital city.

    olympiadowntownpo3.jpg

I hope you liked this update, next update includes more of Olympia, including the first panorama update in TOWNS and a full Bluemount view!

    ENJOY!

    Update time!

    replybanner1wq9.jpg

SimNation: Thanks! The picture is a bit too photoshopped and doesn't really do the city justice, but it's just a startup gimmick. All new updates are edited normally (or at least more so than these were) Oh and yeah, there's one park, all the rest are plazas seen at the center of the picture.

Mother of Invention: Thanks! I agree, I overdid it, it was meant to act as an eye-catcher but I think I can succeed without the extremes.

fabsies55: Thank you! You know, it's funny because often times I feel exactly the same way, especially that Olympia picture. I totally agree with you, I almost never feel like my work is complete...oh well lol.

ilikehotdogsalot: Thank you! Glad you could see through the ugly blue screen. 3.gif Funny thing is, Auburn was made a couple months ago so it's already outdated.

NMUSpidey: Thanks! Well, I figured I didn't want Optical Snacktime and CITIES was already taken, so I settled on TOWNS. 3.gif Agreed, they're not all towns, but most of the region is rural, so it kind of works.

On to today's update...as you will see, the pictures featured today are normal, not washed out and colored like a 4th grade art project. Included today:

-Lettsworth Heights: An inner suburb of Olympia, just east of Capitol Park.

-Viridian Falls: Just north of Lettsworth Heights, another suburb tucked into a narrow valley.

-Willow Cove: A small farming village located on the river.

    Starting with a mosaic:

Visible in this early morning view of Lettsworth Heights is Market Plaza, by the Coca Cola Headquarters; train stations acting as hubs for the eastern half of the region, and several lakes providing recreation and relaxation to residents. The empty lot in the middle was once a steel plant, but after closing in the 50's it has served as a park to local children who ride bikes and play tag in the field.

Next up is a teaser of Viridian Falls:

Finally, a shot of Willow Cove:

Next update: Viridian Falls and Columbia Valley. Stay tuned, and as always...

    ENJOY!

P.S. do the image links work?

Great work, i would suggest the culdesac mod, but other than that, it looks pretty realistic.

yellowguy88: Thanks! And the links don't work cause I use FF...I'll fix them in IE soon. 9.gif

De Ja Vu: Thanks! I used to use the drag-and-drop zoning that came with the game, but I hated the look of it, so I've gone manual. 3.gif

u of m: Ah, another Gopher fan! 9.gif I actually just got the culdesac mod, it just won't appear for a few updated. Thanks!

Tomasneto: Thank you! Let's hope I can keep it that way. 3.gif

OK, today we will be looking at Viridian Falls and a view of Columbia Valley.

First we look at downtown Viridian Falls and vicinity. I tried to make the downtown sort of art-deco with some modern 70's-80's buildings thrown in to add variety. I tried not to overdo the Photoshop, so let's see...

    middlebk6.jpgbottomzj0.jpg

Hope you like it! Now a quick day/night shot of Columbia Valley...pardon the fact that it's mostly unedited, it's only a teaser.

    columbiavalleydayzd1.jpg

Yes, that bridge will be featured in a future update...

    Nightshot:

That's all for today! Stay tuned for next update, which will include Mt. Argos and Kalimnos Plain!

    ENJOY!
