I think we should run some calculations on the trajectory of the wrecking ball and determine whether the buildings are being demolished in a safe manner.  What do you think, Duke? 3.gif

Anyone else notice that the link to ST 6.0's beta was removed sometime recently from the bottom of every ST page?

Never mind. That was 5.0.

It was indeed the 6.0 beta!

I second that.  Possibly the best sig pic of all currently active members (except me, of course haha2.gif)?

Thank you. Yes I did think of that, but would only be about 20 frames, so Im not that worried about it.

We need someone in here that looks good in a fluro vest and hard hat...

... and that someone needs to take immediate charge of inspecting that all proper safety measures have been taken while the demolition of the banner is in progress.

Well done to all those who have carefully documented and chronicled the progress, or is that de-progress...

    Hamish ya sig looks fab!

(Dirk...  this better be something more than just a new banner or a wild llama chase cos the suspense is getting well...  pretty supensful.)

See, If we did that, it would be like any SH in New Zealand, it would actually get finished, they'd get half way through and stop for months on end

Ok, Dirk must really be playing with us, because not only is the wrecking ball gone, but the building's back as well!

    I'm confused...42.gif

Now it is back to the banner with the wreaking ball .

I think Dirk is trying to play with our minds, or worse, trying to make us go insane...

    Where is Dirk?

Well that's odd, because my screen still shows the original layout....Maybe it has to do with what timezone we're in....

Trajectory is impossible to determine with only the position at a single point in time known. 49.gif

Now, if you could show me where it was a second before the picture there, then we start to be talking. Still, the weight of the ball is a necessary parameter. We'd need to know that too. We'll assume it's Earth and g=9.8 m/s2.

I can, however, tell you the buildings aren't being demolished in a safe manner regardless. You try and take a wrecking ball to tall buildings ... well, for one thing, it would be impractical, since you'd need a pretty tall wrecking ball. The one in the banner is ridiculously out of scale to be realistic (but then again, so are a lot of things in SimCity games. Tile size limitations). But for another, you'd be knocking those buildings over more than you'd be knocking them down - not good news. No, for a tall building you'd implode it with explosives. You see this being done for smaller and smaller buildings these days, too. Wrecking balls are becoming rather antiquated technology.

"de-progress". I believe the word you're looking for is "regress".31.gif

I think it was because Dirk decided to use the wreaking ball to make the buildings fall in a domino.3.gif

Heck, Dirk have already imploded a building.

*hears the windows smash and chunks of cement falls around Hahayoudied*

Erm, whoever is operating that wreaking ball crane needs to stop, it is too...

*gets hit by the pieces of cement, glass, steel, *

And when we "B - Click and drag" or "V - Click and drag"  our way around our SC tiles from the comfort and safety of being on the other side of the computer screen do we really give any thought to the poor Sims that will now have to find new places to live and work?

I just hope they all got out in time...  too bad if they missed the memo to vacate.

Or it could just be that the plans are collecting dust in a small dark closet in the basement for the Sims to look through? I mean, c'mon, it's not as if they know that they have to move out to make way for say, a bypass. 3.gif

As an aside, have you ever thought about what any inhabitants of a building in your city do whenever you are bulldozing their building to make room for that new police station or preparing to widen that road?  I mean, they do get fair warning, don't they?  Or maybe they don't...3.gif

They don't. If you've ever demolished a building one of you're MySims is living in, you'd know this. They're also always in the bath when the bulldozer arrives. 21.gif

Simtropolis is from Canada. So far as dirk is concerned, there's absolutely nothing special about today. So it would be rather surprising to see it change.
