I'm having a bit of trouble using the plugins I just donloaded from STEX...

They do appear in the menus and I can also build them, but they are rapped in a box with SIMCITY4 written on them. No matter what plugin i install, everyone of them has that. The buildings do work. For example, the modern police station that I had downloaded works fine and show police station statistics, but not the actual building.

The other plugins i had downloaded from the EA website work fine, but not from here. Can anybody tell me what can be the problem?

Hello snehil... and Welcome to Simtropolis...

The reason you are getting those boxes is because the items you are using have what is known as 'Dependencies'. These are other files (usually created by another person) that are needed for the lot to appear correctly in the game. Most often these Dependencies are listed in a 'Readme' file that is included in the download or are stated in the download instructions in the item's listing.

I'm guessing it's probably not compatible with RHW 3.0, only older versions. Here are some popular textures you might be interested in: www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm Those and the defaults are really the only supported and updated textures out there, at least as far as I'm aware.

You can use ploppable water (or terraform for game water) and Mayor Mode ploppables created by Jeronij, Dedgren, Chrisadams, and others at SC4Devotion. Here's a link to most of Chrisadams material in his Rural Renewal Project. Hope this helps...

I really hate this building. I downloaded it some years ago and it doesn't fit into my city designs now. So I'd love to find the file name so I could get rid of it.

Not really, but I would look at downloading some plopable residential apartment buildings that you only used as dorms. This would give the appearance of unique housing near your college

Hi everybody, for an upcoming journal I'm building a city with a university district, but I'm having trouble finding good bulidings that I can use for dorms. I'm not looking for huge, 30-story brutalist dorms like you find in a lot of large universities, more along the line of smaller dorms, perhaps up to 5 stories or something, preferably with an older look, but of course that's not necessary. Really, I'm just asking if any of you guys know some good dorms out there on the STEX in general. Thanks a lot!

I really hate the avenue railroad crossings, and I'd be surprised that there wouldn't be a mod to turn them into a regular crossing (with two-lane guards). Is there one or should I request one elsewhere?

Griffen Star: Personaly I really like that building, It is called the Mediteranian Rowhouse (I probably misspelled that so don't copy and paste) I like to make stuff like Little Italy, Chinatown, Germantown, and other parts of cities like that.

thepokemaiac: The only place to download Minute Maid Park  is in the Forums, Go to the search tool in the Forums not the STEX and Search it, I don't know what the thread is called but It is one about Sports stadiums, I know that if you find the Toyota Center or Safeco Field you've found the right thread.

Dreamsong: In the first picture I believe thats peg's, go to Simpeg.com and its under plopable ponds or something I think, The Water mod is his Brigatene Water Mod I think.

Babyjay5: Its part of the NAM, I am having computeer problems and haven't downloaded the June 09 NAM, but they would be under the miscilanious Transportation menu with subways unless they changed it.

1&2- Those are part of the SAM, its developed by the NAM team, go to the STEX and search SAM, it will be the SAM or street addon mod, theres also a few other road textures including Bricks and parking lots in the SAM too.

3: picture doesn't come up for me, I can't tell you.

4: I believe you have to be using the Left hand plugin for the NAM to see that, and that would involve seeing the cars drive on the left not the right and it would mean completely re-installing the NAM.

5-7: IDK

8: Thats some mall, search Mall on the STEX

9: I dont know ive been looking for that too.

10: which one are you talking about the one with the 1 big palm tree, the 4 small palm trees or ones sharing the block with a stadium?

#1 and #2 are part of the SAM (Street Addon Mod)

#3 was made by DMScopio (Click HTML Site)

#4 I think is a Japanese made road texture mod that is only for left-hand drive.

#5 Part of this hospital pack I think.

#6 Might be this one or this one, it's hard to tell.

#7 If you search the STEX for 'functional landmark' you'll pull up several, and I'm sure there's more.

#8 also by DMScopio and is on the STEX

#9 Possibly Marrast's embankment set

#10 made by Japanese creator KS (click BAT&Lot and then Other)

You might check out the links here at ChrisAdams' Rural Renewal Project for some of the flora and paths. It's at SC4Devotion, so you'll need to be registered and logged on (the LEX) to get the download links. For the water, it looks like Jeronij's TPW was used. For the trees, you might search (STEX and LEX) for Cycledogg.
