That's what I thought.

On a different note, is there such a thing as a Venus Bar? 3.gif

That's TOTALLY a Milky Way bar.  I was thinking the same thing!  Although I hope it tastes more like the ones back in the States, because the ones they sell here in Japan and in the Middle East, well, I'll just say I'm not acclimated to how they taste.

Archive time.

See, this bogus trixie thing was going on last year prior to the release of the awards as well.

Rule of thumb on the following screenshots. If it's the default Windows XP skin, it's mine. If it's got another look to it, it's someone else's.

Thank you, Spidey.   Here is what Wiki has to say:

The Milky Way bar is a popular candy bar distributed by the Mars candy company. The American version of the Milky Way bar is made of chocolate-malt nougat topped with caramel and covered with milk chocolate and is equivalent to the Mars bar sold in other countries. The non-U.S. Milky Way bar, on the other hand, is not topped with caramel and is therefore similar to the American 3 Musketeers bar.quote>

Here is what it says about Mars bars

The Mars Bar is a chocolate bar manufactured by Mars Incorporated. It was first manufactured in Slough in the United Kingdom in 1932 as a sweeter version of the American Milky Way bar which Mars, Inc. produced in the USA (not to be confused with the European version of the Milky Way, which is a different confection). A different chocolate bar with the same name was sold in the USA until 2002. It contained plain nougat, almonds, caramel and milk chocolate.quote>

I don't know why the marketing people chose to handle things this way but I suspect it's for the same reason that the movie "Home Alone" was released in France under the name "Maman, j'ai raté l'avion!".    Which is another way of saying they make assumptions about different cultures that may or may not be true.

Edit:  btw, Duke, that medal for Rymac is real.

Now just to clarify things further, I need to point out at this juncture that the Mars Bars that we get in New Zealand are actually made in Australia and that New Zealand does actually have its own version that is far superior made by Cadbury...

May I introduce the Moro Bar...

2179739888_5507ecfb86.jpg?v=0

World Famous in New Zealand...  oh wait a minute that would be our country's national soft drink (soda whatever you US type folks call carbonated drinks...)

200x368.66359447005_images_L&P-Soft-Drin

It has its own world famous in NZ, giant bottle in the town where it originated...  Paeroa.   It was originally made with natural effervesent spring water with lemon until it was produced commercially...   by the Coca Cola Company, in Auckland.

It is kinda like a New Zealand Trixie...

Japan has its own crazy sweet snack food. You may have heard of the Pocky? They of some of the greatest, strangest, most surreal commercials ever put on Youtube? Not quite the same as a Milky Way bar, though. They also rather like a drink called Pocari Sweat, which is basically white Gatorade hawked by the most famous boy band in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Next year, if I remember it, I'm going to nominate SkiGeek for "Most likely to confuse a Mars Bar for a Milky Way Bar." I think this manages to keep us on topic.

Right, guys?

That looks more like a Mars than a Moro. In Ireland, Moro bars look very different than that inside (not to mention that Milky Ways are a hell of a lot different to a Mars)

We're onto talking about confectionery? How odd.

What I find quite hilarious, is how the store Aldi have blatant rip-offs of famous products. I'm not saying anything against Aldis; their stores are great, with a huge selection of stuff at ridiculously low price, and generally high quality.

Stuff like a Hero Bar...which looks exactly the same as a Twix if slightly more caramel. It even has the same packaging and typeface!

But in any case, it is well known that British chocolate and sweets is some of the best outside of Central Europe. It has nothing on American products 3.gif

Cadbury's and Thorton's are great.

The "Cadbury" bars available in the US are actually produced by Hersheys.   My Brit friends consider this to be sacrilege.

I don't see anything wrong with Hershey's chocolate. Unless you pay big money to get, I don't know, Godiva or something, chocolate is all sweet, chocolatey goodness. Hersey's Kisses and Hugs (especially Hugs) are some of my favorite candies. You can find them in Japan at specialty imported foods stores, and rather than costing a couple dollars per bag, they're a whopping 600-700 yen (US$6-7)! And I still buy them. Of course, I also have no problems drinking Budweiser or eating at McDonald's or Taco Bell, so maybe I just have no taste2.gif.

But hey, to each his own, right?

Unlike Brad and Brian, I don't really eat much chocolate at all, it is basically limited to cake, brownies (no nuts allowed), or chocolate chip cookies, so I don't really know much about candy and how it tastes.

The best chocolate I've ever had, bar something from Cadbury's that I'll discuss in a minute, has been American chocolate. I've had Godiva before, and every time, it tasted like the cheap, mass produced chocolate that's sold in $2 bags at Walmart.

As for that Cadbury's thing, it was something they called a "chocolate orange." Basically, it was a chocolate ball textured to look like an orange and altered so it tasted a bit like an orange. It was good.

EDIT:  Apparently, I remembered the name wrong.  It was a Terry's chocolate orange.

Same here, and I've tried a LOT of different types of chocolates, (comes with having a dutch dad).  But those are the best for sure.

In my opinion Godiva is amazing and also a little bit expensive, but its worth any price. 4.gif

Terry's is unusual because it looks like orange. It's very delicious. Do you know that Terry's and Cadbury are beeing produced in Poland? 4.gif I prefer Milky Way rather than Cadbury's "Moro". I also don't like Hersheys. I think european chocolate has better taste.

People please...  before you stain your bit torrents...  they are called Jaffas...

Jaffas-Pic.jpg

Cadbury Jaffas are an orange coated chocolate confectionery. Jaffas are a small round sweet with a soft chocolate centre and hard orange flavoured candy on the outside.

Jaffas are made in New Zealand by the Cadbury Chocolate Factory.

Chocolate foods I eat are:

Chocolate Malt-O-Meal

Starbuck's hot chocolate (I like their in-house brand better than their Godiva)

Cafe Mochas

Reese's peanut butter cups (may have to stop those for a while, for obvious reasons)

100% pure cocoa bars (one small square of a bar for dinner at nights)

I prefer dark chocolate over white chocolate. In fact, the darker the better

One tradition I have is my chocolate Sundays: After church, I go to Barnes & Noble  and have a Triple chocolate chunk cookie and a large-sized chocolate chip blended cream.

I've got to get some of those chocolate oranges3.gif

I used to work for a catering company  that made different salads, some of them being Snicker's salad, Oreo Cookie salad, and chocolate fluff. In our kitchen, we had counters with bottom shelves where we kept the boxes of broken up Snicker's bars and crumbled up Oreo cookies. I used to work alone there at night.

Do you ever wonder how these conversations start?   Well I have been doing a little research and it was was all to do with discussions on percentages of trixies completed on page 15..

If I had to pick a percentage, I'd say about 70% done.quote>

Which was not supposed to be quoted but it was...

Then of course Duke dirverted into complex mathmatical analysis...

Well, you know how it works. 70% done means we aren't even halfway there yet.

It's bound to follow the 90-90 rule, which states that the first 90% of the work takes the first 90% of the time, and the last 10% of the work takes the second 90% of the time. 34.gifquote>

Which then generated more mathmatical discussion...

Oh my god, that must mean that given the 180% total, we've still got 110% of work waiting to be done!  No wonder it takes so long!quote>

Which when I finally caught up on first thing in the morning before I had had my coffee...

Originally posted by: abcvs Sorry I can't do maths this early in the morning...   well not until I get my coffee anyway.quote>

So then I had to go and get a coffee and muffin to make my brain work...

I am all good now...

I have a double chocolate Mars Bar muffin and a double shot short black macchiato coffee.quote>

And then before we knew what was happening the thread had turned into a full scale food discussion...  with a strange mix of binary and hexidecimal.

Then there was some discussion on how cooking ingredients should be measured...

A few vain attempts to drag the topic back to the trixies...

Originally posted by: NMUSpidey If they're black and yellow Trixies, are we gonna have to call them Steeler Trixies, or can I call them bumblebee Trixies? I like bumblebees a whole lot more than Steelers.quote>

But it all kind of got mixed in the super cooking bowl with all the other ingredients...

More weird conversations mixed with cooking ingredients and binary... on page 17...

Some weird experiementing on native endangered flightless birds.. and pictures of gay movie stars...

And then of course the conversation defaulted to the next thing that everyone talks about after the weather and the state of the roads when making polite conversation...     chocolate.... and its various international classifications and presentations...

All clear now?

Lovely.

abcvs is a binary chocolate bird hater!  How could you, sir, how could you?  What did those measuring cups ever do to the wheelbarrows to deserve chocolate orange slices, huh???  You've been mocking Trixie for 180% of the last five pages, and I think  you owe Jaffa an apology for stealing his schtick (with a t).

Out with it, then!  You'll get no Milky Mars bar until you do.

And for the record, cocoa confections made with between 20% and 50% dark chocolate are the best 3.gif.
