Hey Buddybud! That work of yours is really awesome!

I was wondering about the sunken road tiles. When they go into tunnel or under another network tile you converted them to underground right? But doesn't that slow down automata traffic immensely, changing from car to subway all the time? I'm no modding genious, so I don't know, maybe this is the best solution already. Can you tell me? 1.gif

    as far as i know the sims take the best path available....which is based on speed not shortest distance..subway is faster than cars and in sim world that means even a subway a 3 tiles long. it actually shortens the length of time for the sims to get from a to b. also no freight is allowed through so there is less trafic also....anyways it works so far..

    Oh ok, I thought they lose time when changing between different transportation types. But thats cool.

    I can't wait for them to be released, but I will wait patiently without asking about release dates.5.gif

    I'm pretty sure that you can change the ammount of time taken to change, which is why Maxis transport buildings add to commute time, but this doesn't have to.

    different styles are possible of course..

    but considering the amount of time ive put in so far it will probably appear as is.

    notice however in terms of textures only a thin strip of the grey jeronij brick work is visible on any of the portals......they blend in well with many other walls and foliage. me thinks anyways.

    as for the foliage i thought that since all other portals so far are pretty much the type your asking me to do....modern...why bother at this point...no offence....mine are an attempt at making generic but pretty under and overpass puzzle pieces.....with the benefit of acting as tunnel portals also.....and above all, so i could extend the sunken highways in a truely unique and eyepleasing way.....

    in short its possible but not for the first release.....sorry

    its possible...those arteries are far from finished....

    the lots they sit on would have to have a couple variations (industrial and parky) and extend props would eleviate the amound of lots needed.

    as for the wall i will have to see since again i want to maintain a style and consistency so they can be used with the other pieces seemlessly.

    RL first, SC4 second..........no worries your stuff is well worth the wait.  Take your time, I would prefer qualtiy stuff than anything rushed.  Great work.

    Unbelieveable.... I just read through this entire thread from beginning to end without pausing so much as to take a deep breath. Buddybud... apart from the NAM itself and the Big Dig, there has never been a more ambitious and amazing attempt at perfecting SC4. You are up there with Blahdy, Jeronij, Cobb, and, dare I say it? Even PEG. You are coming up with ideas no one else can imagine so far. Keep up the good work and that creative mind of yours flowing. Someday you (and the other greats) may help us realize Will Wright's original dreams for this game.

    the highway walls and textures were way more diffucult to deal with then i could have ever imagined,  let alone the shadow issues....but i think it looks fine now....theres three pieces in the above pictures....

    cammo2003-  essentially the plops previewed previous to the previous page were all betas ...that is i was building and expanding on ideas to see if they work . from there i finalize the models and rerender them. then assemble and mod.....which is where i am now.  in short your correct however the intent of those previews were originally to show the pathing works using existing models......in this case i only had sunken roads rendered and loted...so they were used...in other words the intent was never to use a one way directly into a road.....though a split on/off ramp from the end of a road is envisioned......a one sided T intersection essentially......you have a good eye..lol

    Meastro444-  show what to download to get the textures and ill include it.....im at 156 props and expect around 200 when done....whats a couple more...lol...gimme a link

    finished the second side.....

    these of course could be used to start and end split highways......after a tunnel transition.

    the surface texture of the highway is a bit light but ive fiddled with it enough......
