Update 27- The Great Downtown Fire (Part II)

12:05- I got out! as son as I could. I found the nearest stairway and took it. There was screaming and choas everywhere. As soon as I got oout the fires somehow began to burn out. I don't know how.....maybe from God, I just don't know.....

12:15-  As soon as I got out I went across the street to get some water for my throat, when I heard a huge crash behind me. I thought It was the AFDES but someone told me it was the arena.

Fire fighters were at the scene but the fire had engulfed the entire building in the matter of minutes. Of the 1200 attending the show, only 200 made it out alive.

12:30-It wasn't good at the other site. One of my best freinds from work told me that the firefighters got there in five minutes but the flames took over the building and the firefighters could ony stand and watch. They couldn't do anything......

12:35-Fire Trucks arrive.

12:40-Buildings collapse as an estimated 1300 die.

This was just one of the worst days in Halifax History. I wouldn't be able to return to work due to the fact that 70% of my building was burned. I called my wife and asked her if she could pick me up. My car was under the AFDES building and the FBI wanted to search the building.

I just wanted to go home.

OH MY! this is definetly not good. rest assured, what ever you need, Auria/Faluritar will send in aid right away, in fact, 50 million has just been wired to you to help with cleanup efforts. all your AFDES workers are welcome to come and do their job tmeporarily at the AFDES building in Godsburgh, we will house them and their families. very nice update, i can't wait to see what happends when you pick up all the peices!

My favourite shot! I The Downtown sprawls very realistically, and the grid is used quite well. my only problem is a the mansions in your suburbs - but you can fix that by blocking all Maxis R$$.

Update 28-Rebuilding Downtown (Part III)

In the wake of one of the greatest disasters in Halifax, the city and people vowed to rebuild.   They wanted to bring downtown up-to-date since the last revitalization was 6-8 years ago.The first order of buisness was to build a memorial for everyone who died in the fires. The city picked the park to build Halifax Memorial in Harrison Park. Residents were ready to rebuild their destroyed city and bring it up-to-date.

(Sorry, when I have CJs I tend to forget some things like names of different places. If you see that I said a wrong name for a city or place can you please tell me. I tend to forget what I put on ST.Thanks!)

Construction began:

Interesting Fact: The memorial is a replical of the Halifax Expolsion Memorial in Halifax, Canada.

Completed Halifax Memorial. Memorial North has the names from A-Q that died. South Memorial has R-Z names.

Halifax was ready to rebuild the devestated Uptown neighborhood. The new plan called for a new arena that could hold 21,500 fans for the Senators and Lakers.

Construction Begins on te new multimillion dollar arena.

With the new arena being built, several new buildings were built around the finshed arena that was pending a new name.

The old Scotiabank Arena will be slated to be demolished in a few days. The Sens and Lakers have been looking for a new stadium. Scotiabank Arena will become a park/transit center. More details will come!

The AFDES administration voted to build a new $10 million complex that would be near the Halifax Municipal Stadium.

The plan for the old burned out AFDES Building was to develop the land into low housing apartments.

New apartments with a small memorial square to the top right of the picture:

The last place was not developed by the city. The AJAX Corp. was going to build a new international tower but there were finacial problems and the tower was taken out. Manchester Group stepped in and proposed a new hotel on the site. 

Rubble was cleared as construction began!

With a year and 7 months the new building become the tallest in Nebraska!

While construction on the memorial was going on a fire broke out  Halifax U's stadium. The fire was quickly put out!
