Excellent job on downtown! This CJ might be your least grim since Domeston.

Has the oil industry since recovered in Derby? There were definitely some hard times in the 1980s. but Derby should be doing a lot better now, unless they've forsaken oil completely.

Fantastic job. Incredibly realistic. Especially the downtown parking lots. I would suggest adding some low-income apartments and single family homes near the downtown to add an urban core feel.

Wow, that took a while. Sorry for the absense, but I've been busy with BATting . . . gets very addictive, lol. Anyway, I'm back now, and I hope to be coming with more updates on a regular(ish) basis!

1.2 - 5th and Dyme and Warehouse Districts!

Welcome to the 5th and Dyme Historical, and Warehouse Districts! These two districts, just east of downtown, hold some well preserved historic buildings.

The centerpiece of the whole area, Derby's Union Station. Already shown a pic, but I think you deserved another.

The impressive Nothern Oklahoma Trust Bank building sits on the corner of 5th Ave and Dyme St, while a small plaza sits on the other corner. This area was once connected to downtown, but since the construction of I-35 straight through the middle, this area was cut off. Until years ago, this neighborhood was mostly abandoned, until several risky developers came in and did the place up. Good to see it worked.

The border of the historic district are shockingly well-defined. On one side of the street lies open businesses, while on the other lies empty lots and abandoned warehouses. 

Welcome to the Warehouse District! This district, seperated from 5th and Dyme by a block, is slightly smaller than the 5th and Dyme, but full of as much history and cultural significance. 

Areas just north of the Warehouse District though, don't have such a fortunate outcome. Large empty lots and low-wealth businesses line the streets here, with no-one else brave enough to buy land here. 

A large abandoned warehouse. Plans are to do this one up, and join the block up to the Warehouse District.

And to finish off, an overview of the city. Starting to look a bit more real, isn't it?

This may turn out to be my favorite district in all of the city! Very nice work all around, from the layout to the custom lots used. Seriously, your custom lots just get better and better each time you start a new CJ! You should consider releasing some of them, especially the beautiful plaza across from the bank in the third pic. I also liked the junkyards and that lot with the Chevrolet vans. Another excellent update finished off with an equally excellent overview.

I was about to give up on this city journal since it hadn't been updated in so long, but I'm glad I clicked on this bookmark when I did. You've really done some amazing work here, and the city is starting to resemble an Oklahoma city very well. I'm starting to see more of a trend towards imitating Tulsa though. I'm glad to see this CJ survive your leave of absence.

One pointer: Make sure the asphalt highway mod loads after the NAM (by putting a ZZZ in the filename) and it will retexture custom interchanges like the stack in your last update. Hope this helps!

Fantastic!. The wharehouse district is of real interest to me because it reminds me of the Sopranos....why? Seems they always killed somebody in or near wharehouse areas. LOL..

I love this CJ however, there is a lot of concrete. But hey....whatta i know?

I don't know what I like more, the mid-west feeling you easily captured with this CJ, or the sheer awesomeness of it. I love this type of CJ, very rural, yet very metropolitan. Very nice!
