I got better way results with a NVidia card than an ATI one, furthermore, NVidia provides support and useful applications for 3D programmers and developers and, last but not least, several games (like City Life) have a special feature for NVidia cards and enhanced graphics on NVidia.

With the latest generation, you would want to go for ATi. They've been improving, and the 4x series of cards have an amazing  price vs performance ratio. 4870 = nearly as much performance as a GTX 280 for $300 less. But, if you're looking for a midrange card, you would want to go with either an 8800GT or 9600GT. Same bang for the buck thing.

No offense meant, but the whole "X for life!!" thing is kind of stupid. That's like saying you would always eat at the Mcdonalds across the street from the Burger King even if they were dirtier and the food wasn't as great (and was also more expensive).

Both are good, both have their ups and downs.

Nvidia are the best, A 8600GT gave me better results than the ATi HD3780.

I'll go either way, but at the moment ATI is better. More performance/dollar, and I crossfire seems to work better than SLI.

Depends on what your computer likes.  Macs tend to like ATI better, so I use that.  4.gif

Power is nothing without control.  My own experience with my computers has shown me that ATI is more stable.

I haven't tried Nvidia, but I have tried ATI.

I noticed the company that produces ATI graphic cards is AMD company. AMD company often uses child labor in poor countries. That is how AMD company makes their products, such as AMD processors and ATI graphic cards cheap compared to other companies.

I am not sure if Nvidia also uses child labor to produce products cheaply.

I am not going to rant or vote yet.

I don't exactly think you can create a processor or graphics card in a sweatshop, mate.

    1. AMD's main fab is in Dresden, Germany. Germany, AFAIK, does not allow child labor.

    2. ATI chips are actually manufactured by TSMC.

    3. Put a bunch of little kids in a chip fab and see how many chips are made by the end of the day. Regardless of the number of slave drivers, most likely you'll end up with a pile of broekn equipment worth countless life savings.

    AMD makes chips, not shirts.

As I said before on this very issue (albeit in a different thread), modern computer parts are too advanced to be manufactured by anything but technicians working in some of the most advanced, and cleanest, manufacturing facilities in the world.  Sort of rules out the use of child labor.  Nvidia cards are higher because Nvidia knows it can charge more.  Just like how Intel chips are more expensive because they know the market will bear higher prices for their chips.

I'd go with Nvidia. Been a year and still works like a charm.
