East Tenne: Transit Enabled

Schulmania's newest and largest city is accessible by road from the east and south and by ferry down the Wirdle River to the Tenne Sea. In the town proper, extensive road networks and the highest concentration of bridges in the nation allow for easy transit to both halves of the town and throughout the more than twenty neighborhood districts.

Let's start today's journey in the 14th Arrondissement, on the northwest side of town. The Chateau Tireur de Beurre is the tallest residential building in town. The Supreme Wirdle has a penthouse suite here for when she comes to visit.

As we travel across the town, we will see large blocks of residential and commercial as well as government buildings. From our current position, we can explore a great amount of the city before arriving at the capital. One may note the extensive use of the Capitoline style of architecture, featuring classical styling and often ornate, articulated rooflines. Extensive use of chimneys is common in this style which is becoming exceedingly popular in Tenne since its large scale introduction in Knoxvegas.

And plenty of chimneys are visible on many buildings, including these in the north central part of town.

Note the distinctive green roof of Roane-Anderson College. It is one of four institutions of post-secondary education in the city.

Extensive commerce and retail keep Roane-Anderson's economy humming. From the corner Leech Apothecary to the boutiques of Ferry's Wooden Shoe Emporium to the regional offices of VAN Enterprises, the range of employment and commerce options is quite broad.

This city is every bit as densely populated as Knoxvegas. But, at more than twice the land area, this will be the largest city to date in Schulmania.

The mid-rise density is consistent across town. Here, a view of the 18th arrondissement.

In the evening, citizens enjoy a variety of dining and entertainment options. The corner Tuna Theater is quite popular. Today's holiday performance is by Metallicat.

So, how do we get to travel so quickly around town, especially across the river? There are three bridges and two ferry ports in town. Crossing a river will never be a problem in Roane-Anderson.

Ships cross the river and travel to the sea frequently.

Unfortunately, these boats behind the Bureau of Feline Affairs Building don't travel across town. But if you want to catch some fish, feel free to borrow one.

In the 17th arrondissement, a church stands as the centerpiece. The second largest church in town is the Our Lady of Meerclar. This landmark is one of the largest structures in the mostly residential southwestern quadrant of Roane-Anderson.

In other news Schulmauckland is very pleased to announce the safe arrival of Sir Oliver Boyd, the new Schulmanian Ambassador to Schulmauckland.   In a late development, he has been accompanied by his private secretary Miss Millicent Boyd who also happens to be his sister.

 

On arrival at Schonheit Castle after their long journey they were immediately afforded a welcoming feast of chicken and tuna.

Ambassador Schonheit was not available for immediate comment.

Schulmania on the brink!

An ill fated attempt to add wireless capability to my aging computer led to the much feared Blue Screen of Death. And since the computer has had so many problems already that file backups were almost impossible and a host of other issues, it was ready for replacement anyway. The problem of course is that it has been months since I was able to make a successful backup of things such as Schulmania. There was a very real prospect of losing months of work as well as the region itself and thousands of plug ins. After waving magic wands, finger crossing, general dismay and so forth, we were able to successfully extract the hard drive from the old computer (henceforth known as 'the corpse') The corpse was not in good shape after that surgery...(esp since the surgeon claimed the corpse's CPU as his prize...)

Now, to see if we can salvage the files from the corpse's hard drive. Had to go buy a USB docking port to put the drive into. And, luckily, the drive was in good shape and suffered little damage. We were able to recover the vast majority of files from the drive. I am missing about 200 plug ins and that's about it from the Schulmania folder. Not bad considering what could have happened. The hyper aggressive anti virus deleted a bunch of new plug ins with installers (click team and whatever the SFBT uses for their installers). Anyone know how to make a virus program like installers? I will have to redownload all of those once I have a method to avoid their auto deletion.

Anywho, it's time now for a view of Schulmania even I have never seen before. This is the real Schulmania, in its entirety, au naturel.

The PEG OPPS Mod is highly recommended if you need to pinpoint individual lots that are missing a dependency.

Basically it replaces the ginourmous brown boxes with a little coloured flag...  much easier to see where the problem is.

*Dipolmatic relations between the feline Schulmanian delegation to Schulmauckland and Ambassador Schonheit are progressing slowly.   We have progressed to having everyone in the same room but at a respectful distance.  The hissing and growling by the felines is lessening but there is still a lot of watchful eyeballing going on.   Ambassador Schonheit is being very dignified and maintianing a respectful distance..   accepting the guidance of his humanoid advisors...   that is except when Miss Millicent inadvertantly met with him nose to nose while trying to escape the vacuum cleaner.
