Airport high crime!

First of all sorry for my extremely poor English.

After I built an international airport. The "assistance of security" keep noticing me there is a high crime place. I need to put a police station there. I put 3 even 4. It doesn't help. How to solve this problem? I pulled down it temporary. I wanna solve it before I built it again!

airports are just one of those spots where police cannot completely control what is going on, just like if you put down the convention center or casinos.

    i put an airport in and theres constantly a police helicopter hovering in one corner, iv found no way to fix it, i put police stations roads, parks, shops and nothing fixes it

    There are ways to fix this. For the helicopter try to change the graphics setting.

    For the original poster's question, I would recommend to increase the value of any residence or business buildings in the area, poor places seem to draw more crime in, in my opinion. If this doesn't work then try building the airport in a different region, or just build a smaller airport.

    From what I've learned, there's a fundamental flaw in the game when it comes to mega lots like airports and universities.  My understanding is that police will only go a few tiles away from a street/road, so with lots that big, if there's even a bit of crime, the police will never be able to get to it because there's no way to run a road through the lot.  The cops will only be able to reach a few tiles around the outside of it, and crime affects the entire thing; therefore, if the lot is plagued with crime at all, it will be perpetually under the influence no matter how many police stations you put around it.  That's my understanding of it, anyways....

    I think there are police stations out now that help with this problem, making it so that police can travel farther away from roads to catch crime.  You might search around...

    You might want to consider using the CAM (Colossus Add-on Mod) as it incorporated at least a partial fix to the crime on large lots bug. You can get the CAM at www.sc4devotion.com

    I remember seeing a post at SC4D on this. Apparently the default police stations are poorly modded and filled with fat officers who rather eat donuts than fighting crime. Some "heavier" custom police stations might help, but I'm sorry to say that I don't know neither the address of the post or which police stations that'll help.

    The best thing you can do (aside from downloaded "crime mods" or custom police stations) is to surround the airport by roads.. for the reason mentioned above.. police who leave their cars on the road and track down crime only go.. I think.. 3 tiles.. so any lot larger than 6x6 with roads all around will slowly accumulate crime.. this is not unique to the airport, but as it is quite large you do see it here.. for example the university and the country club, etc

    Frist,create some police stations arround.You can download some mod to less this.Use too the laws of crimes like neigthbour vigilant and others

    Just a thought... What if one were to add roads going beneath the airport?

    If the theory above is correct about the max distance police can travel off a road and this is not a bug built into the game, then in theory adding bunch of roads going under the airport in intervals of six or so should eliminate the problem...

    I am going to attempt this when I get home tonight... of course I will have to start a new city since all my airports are along my borders...

    I have never tried the "road under the airport ..or whatever lot) " AS A SOLUTION to the crime bug.. I have built roads under airports but never thought to actually investigate if it helps the megalot crime issue. I'll look into that next time I get a few free moments.. should be fairly easy to verify.. 4.gif

    Most of the custom lots are too extreme for me.. they just are plane cheats.. not familiar specifically with the frogface one. I have used lots from Mattb and his are fairly consertively mod'ed. He increases the police "walking radius" but leaves the rest of the stuff in line with the cost of the station operation and plop

    This is a fatal flaw with the world--some things can't be controlled. I acutally think this is a point of accuracy. Police kisos do help a bit, howeverm, which is the real-world approch as well.

    I did run some short tests (18 months) in a city that was already built. Tthere is no real quantitative method that I know to measure crime levels . The best I could do is judge by the color intensity of the "crime level" map overlay. As far as I could tell there was no difference with a road under vs no road under the airport. If I could find a way to be quantitative about it, I'd run sandlot tests, Otherwise I see nothing to be gained over what I've done already.

    Dont worry it fixes itself just let it run for a bit and it will fix itself i had the same problem except with the schools and high crime
